  1. Does anyone know if the skyride is open on day one of the cruise? Or is it operational at all I guess should ask first. We are on the ship at the end of this week. Wondering if it will be open before we leave port or on the way out. Thx.
  2. I have Cabins 11268 and 11264 on hold right now. I have been looking at the Deck plans to make sure I didn't pick a noisy cabin. I am struggling with the map lol. It's hard to tell but is Waterworks right over my cabins? Or is it a little bit ahead? Has anyone had these cabins and can tell me if they are super noisy due to waterworks?
  3. Tell me about your shopping experience on the horizon. What did you get? What do you wish you would’ve gotten? What was the coolest thing that you saw in the shops or even at a port?
  4. Anyone have any idea what will be showing Feb 8-16 on Carnival Horizon at Dive In and IMAX?
  5. Where on the ship can we get Omelettes? On the Sunrise there were at least 5 locations I think.
  6. A few questions if I may 1. Is the Horizon a good choice for a small family ? 2. What location or room type would you recommend for 3 people ? 3. Whilst I accept all the mainstream cruise lines are busy especially on sea days how does the Horizon fair in this respect ? 4. As a family who've never cruised Carnival before you hear a lot of horror stories about the line what's your experience ? 5. From Miami the month we wish to go their appears to be two sailings a 6 night which goes to Ocho Rios , Grand Cayman and Cozumel the other is an 8 night which goes to Aruba , Bonaire , Curacao being we haven't visited these what are your thoughts on the best ? Just for info we've cruised a few Royal Caribbean ships before and one Disney. All replies are greatly appreciated.
  7. Hello all, Anyone who is booked on a 6 day Carnival Horizon cruise that stops in Cozumel from 10:30 am- 6:30 pm this July-- Can you please log into the excursions section and let me know if you see the Chichen Itza by airplane excursion ($400 pp) available to book? Thanks in advance!
  8. anyone on the Horizon do you know if they are having a white party
  9. We are taking the 8 day Southern Caribbean on the Horizon leaving March 7th! Unfortunately on the way back we have to drive back straight through to Illinois from Miami due to work/school issues. I know probably not our smartest move but I could resist this cruise! We haven’t been able to get FTTF so I was hoping for tips on fastest debarkation. We are so excited to be in the Havana area this cruise and can’t wait! Thanks for any tips you can provide!
  10. We were on the Feb 8 sailing. I developed a cough 4 days in as did my husband. I’m just now getting over it. It was violent coughing fits. Since returning home and chatting with our Facebook group of over 600 members from that cruise, I’m finding that most of us got sick that week. Now I’m thinking we should have notified Carnival. Thoughts? Sent from my iPhone using Forums
  11. Does anyone have email address for Bonsai Teppanyaki for the Horizon. It’s not listed on website to make reservations..
  12. After doing all the research that I could, I need your help deciding on a cruise. Option 1: 6 Day Western Caribbean from Miami on Carnival Horizon Ports of Call - Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman, Cozumel Option 2: 7 Day Eastern Caribbean from Port Canaveral on Carnival Breeze Ports of Call - Amber Cove, St. Thomas, San Juan, Grand Turk Price difference is around $250 with Option 2 being the more expensive option...but we also live in Orlando, so it's a quick drive to the port. Both ships look similar from what I can tell, but still having trouble deciding between the two. Ocho Rios has an excursion we would love to do, but I would also love another trip down to St. Thomas. 1 ship leaves a day after the other, so timing isn't an issue. We haven't been on either ships, or sailed on something this new yet 😀 so I feel like we can't go wrong with either choice, just wanted to see WWCCD (What Would Cruise Critic Do). Help a girl out, please?!
  13. Carnival offered up grade to deck 9 below the lisp deck any comments on noise and comfort thanks
  14. Hey guys, I'm Vasanthi, and my traveling partner is David. We are 30-somethings from Maryland who have been on 5 cruises together. We try to cruise once a year, and we really enjoy traveling this time of year. It's something to look forward to after the holidays, and its the quiet time before our most important season of the year- baseball season. Also, the prices are usually pretty good, and the ships aren't as full as they are in the summer. We booked this cruise over a year out. We had just gotten off an 8 day Southern cruise on the Sunshine, and knew we wanted to go back to Curacao. We had a cruise planned for 2019 already which was alll ports (the Fascination out of San Juan) and figured this route would be very different- more sea days and a much newer ship. I mention these 2 ships because I may draw some comparisons to them during this review- at least that's the plan in my head right now, I tend to get a bit wordy so it may not work out that way. I'm not really going to go day by day, but I'll try to group topics together. I'm not going to include pictures in this review (so my apologies if that's what you're looking for), but I'll try to be as detailed as possible and share our experiences. So this cruise took us to Grand Turk, La Romana, Aruba, and Curacao. Of these ports, only La Romana was new to us. We were less than thrilled about having Curacao as the late port on this itinerary- we didn't dock until after lunch, but it was the sailing date that worked best for us, so we figured we'd just do things differently.
  15. I have two adjoining balcony rooms on the Horizon and I was wondering if the partition between the balconies can be removed to create one larger balcony?
  16. Can you purchase Internet for a day or two on the cruise or do you have to get it for the entire cruise? Also, how is it on the Horizon?
  17. My family (me, husband, daughter 12, son 10 and son 5) are new to cruising. Last year we went on Royal Caribbean Harmony of the Seas and decided we loved cruising. We all felt like we could use a little more action though and had heard Carnival line is more "fun" for young people. The horizon ship looks great for my kids who love karaoke with lip sync battle and the hasbro game show but Mardi Gras is a little less expensive for when we want to go and obviously is newer. It seems they've taken a bunch of the kid friendly stuff out though (lip sync battle, hasbro, imax, thrill theatre, etc.). Am I right? Or will there just be newer stuff that appeals to the kids? Thanks!!
  18. Carnival has fun water slides. Below are videos of five water slides on Horizon, Breeze and Splendor as you enjoy the ride down... 19. What nights are the formal nights on the horizon? Also, if it’s a formal night and you dine in the specialty, is it formal in there as well? Thanks
  20. Well, I am unfortunately back at work today after getting off of the Horizon yesterday, but in order to help the sting of being back in the office, I figured I would start writing my view of the Carnival Horizon...both the good and the bad. I will include pics and hopefully some video of a few things. I warn you now...this won't be written all in one sitting, but rather as multiple pieces in this post as I organize my thoughts, get time over the next few days to type them out, organize my pics, etc. I hope you all find it informative and it helps you on your journey. Day 1: The Journey Begins We always travel to the cruise port the day before the cruise. I will never trust an airline to get me there on time the morning of embarkation. While I have had very good luck with on time flights, I am the type of traveler that likes to be early and in this case, that means being in Miami the day before. We had a morning flight out of Dulles airport so that means up at 4am. But who can sleep the night before vacation??!? I was actually awake at 3:30am as excited as a kid on Christmas morning. Car was already packed, that so that just means a shower, getting dressed, and out the door! Thank god my wife is like me...early is ontime, ontime is late, and late is being left behind. We get to the airport early...no problems there because it's off to the United Club for some breakfast and coffee. After landing in Fort Lauderdale we catch a Lyft down to our hotel in Miami. We like to stay at the Hampton Inn and Suites Brickel when we cruise out of Miami. It is right next to the free metromover, has lots of restaurants within walking distance, is in a rather decent neighborhood, and has free breakfast. We got to the hotel a few hours before the posted check in time, but they had our room ready for us, so we dropped off our luggage, then it's off to walk around and buy a few necesseties that we decided to buy there instead of packing. Though one thing we needed to get was another suitcase. When we checked our luggage, our large suitcase was over the 50 pound limit. I am not paying the $100 overage fee, so we moved some stuff from the large suitcase and stuffed it in the smaller. We got the large bag down to 48 pounds but the small bag was at 45. We had planned on buying some souveneirs, so we went to target to pick up a duffel bag as a third bag.
  21. I saw people mentioning in reviews last year that since Horizon does not have a Red Frog Rum Bar for Happy Hour they just run a few drink specials in the casino on boarding day. I haven’t seen any recent mention of it. Has anyone seen this recently?
  22. Hello to all you Horizon know-it-alls. I am hoping you can give me some great suggestions. We are sailing on April 18th, on the Horizon. Any secrets I need to be aware of? If we decide to splurge on a dinner; which restaurant, would you recommend? Any great deals worth our attention? In fact, any recommendations you would like to make, would be greatly appreciated. We have sailed on Carnival quite a few times. Thanks to all!
  23. Horizon in April does anyone know if there is a white party on 80s party
  24. There will be 8 of us cruising on the Carnival Horizon for the first time in March. This may seem like a strange question, but on all of the Horizon decks, was there a special deck that you kept going back to, more than one time, and why, or for what reason? I understand the main decks for the buffet and dinner, but any other decks where there was something you "found" that you didn't know was there, and you were happy you found it! 🙂
