  1. John, Philip posted photos from the Amsterdam appreciation dinner yesterday. There is also a photo of the Miss Amsterdam contest in Philip’s comments about the new schedule. Look for the 16 replies to Linda. I would post them, but not sure how to post photos on CC. Thanks for all your posts and your help to the Amsterdam passengers!
  2. We are booking the Ryndam transatlantic leaving Amsterdam October 2021. We are keeping good thoughts that it will be a reality...and our booking includes all the promotional perks. Looking forward is a positive thing...enough of this quarantine. Stay well.
  3. When we did a land trip to Amsterdam, we enjoyed the fast food falafel restaurants.
  4. This is amazing! I first found this thread as I was on the Amsterdam World Cruise (yes, THAT cruise). While I did see after we got home that they got home I'm finally going through the thread to see the whole process. What a process it was! Wow! @Kindergirl and @Copper10-8; incredible story. Of course, there were many others involved but so happy to see a happy ending, even if there was that big bump in the road after they got home. I posted this link (GMA story) to the FB page that we (World Cruise people) have. I'm sure that many of us remember them and will be happy to see this. Linda R.
  5. Good morning, and thank you for the report, Rich. I think Volendam was in Fort Lauderdale yesterday, but I missed the sail away... Reading that article that was posted today about ships from HAL and Princess repatriating crew, it seems that other ships will be on the move soon, when they get everything organized. And it looks like Amsterdam will have to undergo another 2-week quarantine between Indonesia and the Philippines.
  6. Eurodam has already gone into action involving this. She has now started across the Pacific and also has crew on board from the Maasdam and Westerdam. The transfer for crew of Maasdam and Westerdam to the Eurodam was done in the LaPaz, Mexico area. Amsterdam after ending the World Cruise went across the Indian Ocean to Durban, South Africa to refuel and load provisions. Was also able to Disembark a handful of South African crew. The plan was then to continue onward to Port Everglades but then had a change of plans dealing with the same challenge trying to get crew home. When they left Durban they started back east across the Indian Ocean to get crew home from the Indonesia - Philippines area. Amsterdam still also has all the luggage on board from the World Cruise passengers that everyone had packed up and left in their cabins to be shipped home once they reach the U.S. All the cruise lines have had to start doing this as it has become the only way they can get crew home. Airlines have cut way back in addition to some not flying any long haul flights. Equipment is being parked everywhere and at some airports runways have been closed to be used to park them. Atlanta for example which is the world headquarters for Delta has 5 runways and at least 2 of them are closed because Delta has parked equipment on them to store them. Other hubs for Delta are MSP and DTW and sure there is a lot of parked planes there too. MSP and DTW were hubs for NWA with MSP being the world headquarters for NWA till the merger with Delta. Just hope everyone gets home. Going to be a while till we all cruise again the way we were used to doing it. https://www.cruisemapper.com/
  7. The article also doesn’t mention the Eurodam and Amsterdam. Has their mission changed ?
  8. We should be boarding Nieuw Statendam in Ft.Lauderdale and sail transatlantic home to Amsterdam.
  9. Thank you for today’s report, Rich! Good morning Joy & Denise & fellow Daily-ites. It is a gorgeous day in the neighborhood. Let’s see if the breeze picks up enough to support a kite. Not much right now. I know I have the ingredients for stuffed chicken breast. Great idea. That is quite a route for the Amsterdam, May they have a safe trip. Stay well everyone.
  10. today is Go Fly a Kite Day Whom computers would destroy, they must first drive mad. Anyone up for Boneless Stuffed Chicken Breast?? 11. During our last two cruises on the Nieuw Statendam the daily Canadian and Times newspapers were only available on line. This was relayed to me via the front desk. As I walked back to my cabin I passed a crewmember who was putting flyers from the shore excursion desk and the spa in everyone's mail slot!!? Why not put those solicitations on the website also? (mentioned on our last survey) Come on vaccine Bob
  12. Interesting choice of vessels. Nieuw Amsterdam and Veendam are both scheduled to be doing Mediterranean cruises this summer (from July) and Volendam was listed for Alaska and now has nothing until Fall, (October). I wonder are HAL signalling that there will be no Med cruises in 2020 even though they still have them on the website from July?
  13. Philip Stolte, Restaurant Manager on the Amsterdam just posted an update tonight! “Update from the Flying Dutchman ; April 24:Singapore, April 27: Jakarta, April 29: Bali, May 6: Manila. Other than that life is good, of course the Restaurant Operations Manager is working hard as usual, everybody still healthy & happy, Presty Jenggo is going for the title of Miss Amsterdam tonight, Amsterdam Family Appreciation Dinner tonight, now time for sunshine and a cold beer, i'm exhaused!”
  14. December 5, 2020 - Nieuw Amsterdam, 7 day Eastern Caribbean. My 5th HAL cruise, my friends 1st. Unfortunately, our June 10th Alaskan cruise on Volendam was cancelled.
  15. By the time Amsterdam reaches Manila she will be about 10th in the line for disembarking crew. So far there are Sun & Sea Princess, Pacific Explorer waiting outside the bay. Queen Elizabeth in area. Sapphire & Majestic on way from Singapore & some RCC coming up from Bali.
  16. Not necessarily, I suspect he has his photos listed as public. Only way to find out is to look. Today he posted a sunset. And today someone posted that Sun Princess’ s Filipinos weren’t allowed to disembark. The thought is that the quarantined facilities are full. Hopefully, by the time the Amsterdam aka Flying Dutchman reaches Manila that will have changed.
  17. If the port schedule holds we have Nieuw Amsterdam Monday, Zuiderdam and Rotterdam Tuesday and Nieuw Statendam on Wednesday. Roy
  18. I “should” be flying to FLL today. And then would have boarded Nieuw Statendam for my first TA. Oh well, after two tries at NS, think I will give up.
  19. Veendam August 8th to November 3rd 2020 B2B2B 87 days. Amsterdam world cruise 128 days January 4 2021
  20. Yesterday on the thread "Any news from the Amsterdam" storylady posted and Marine Traffic posts Amsterdam's destination as Batam Indonesia
  21. Thank you for today’s report, Rich! Good morning Denise, Joy & fellow Daily-ites. Your quotes are hitting a little too close to home, Rich.🤔 Did the Amsterdam change it’s next port again? I wonder why. Hope Singapore did not block them. BTW - I love the map. It makes the Amsterdam look so alone. A great visual of these times. Hmm - I have couscous, garlic and butter the start of a fine scampi! No crackers of any kind, and other than juggling schedules & tasks - I can not juggle. Stay well everyone!

  23. Yes, Philip Stolte has been posting some photos of the crew and periodic updates on FB. When it was announced that they couldn’t dock at Batam, Indonesia, he called the Mx Amsterdam, the Flying Dutchman, due to the story of the ghostly ship that can’t dock anywhere.
  24. On his personal FB page? Captain Jonathan was hoping they could do that but he had no confirmation when he wrote in his blog. I have fond memories of the Amsterdam. I don't remember everyone's name but Gan in the dining room, Hotel Director Henk and Concierge Joy. They made my Asia and Pacific cruise memorable.
  25. The morgue in the Nieuw Statendam...located next to where the alcohol storage is (B deck I think). The next shot is the corridor outside the morgue. Lots of watertight doors.
