  1. Hello All ... just a few questions .... we are sailing Brilliance of the Seas July of next year and have extended our trip at the end of the Cruise .... what is the earliest you can have breakfast on the ship as we dock at the end of our Cruise? .... and as a walk-off what it the earliest we can Disembark ? Thank you for any and all information. Take Care Brian
  2. I've read about some changes in the entertainment on HAL. Is is safe to say that there will be some show taking place in the main theater each evening at 8 & 10 when we are on the NA in a few weeks?
  3. Nieuw Amsterdam will be at pier 26 (starboard to) from 0545-1700. She is embarking on a 7-day Tropical Caribbean cruise. Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (27 Oct 0800-1700); Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos (29 Oct 0800-1700); Amber Cove, Dominican Republic (30 Oct 0800-1700); Key West, Florida (01 Nov 0800-1700); Fort Lauderdale, Florida (02 Nov a0700) Also in port are Adventure OTS at pier 29 from 0430-1730 and Carnival Magic at pier 19 from 0445-1530. The PTZtv webcams can be found at https://www.portevergladeswebcam.com/ and https://www.ftlauderdalewebcam.com/
  4. My husband and I will be cruising on May 10 on the Western Mediterranean. Does anyone have any recommendations for excursions at any of the ports?
  5. Holland America's newest and largest ship arrived here in Santorini this morning along with Celebrity's Edge, silver seas's wind and Crystal Serenity. Pretty rich company, but we are holding our heads high. Just finished the donkey trail walk to the top, so resting and posting.
  6. DH wants to bring a 6 pack of Pepsi on our next cruise, which is on HAL Nieuw Amsterdam. As we understand it, they do not carry Pepsi, only Coke products. Does anyone know if this is allowed? Thanks.
  7. I've completed a search with little results -- so I'm posing the question to the community We are looking at HAL New Amsterdam out of Barcelona in April 2020. We'd like to get information about that itinerary --11 Day Ancient Treasures (Barcelona, Sete, Monte Carlo, Florence, Rome, Naples, Tunis & Carthage, Valetta) -- and about HAL in Europe generally Can anyone provide some information - or direct me to where the info might be located?
  8. Can anyone tell me where exactly the P&O Shuttle drops off and picks up in Amsterdam City? Many thanks.
  9. I am not a frequent HAL cruiser. Are the internet prices better once you are on board rather than on the HAL website in advance? I will be doing a 7 day Caribbean cruise from FLL.
  10. Nieuw Amsterdam will be making her first visit to FLL this season and will be at pier 26 (starboard to) from 0530-1700. She is doing a 7-day Eastern Caribbean cruise. Fort Lauderdale, Florida (19 Oct d1700); Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos (21 Oct 0800-1500); San Juan, Puerto Rico (22 Oct 1300-2300); St Thomas, US Virgin Islands (23 Oct 0800-1700); Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (25 Oct 0800-1500); Fort Lauderdale, Florida (26 Oct a0700) Also in port is Majesty of the Seas at pier 19 from 0600-1600. Zaandam will be in Aruba from 0800-2300. https://www.portaruba
  11. I'm starting a series of cruises which will include a segment from Amsterdam to Basel on the Crystal Bach (after Eastbound TA on QM2 and returning from Barcelona on Crystal Serenity). I do mostly ocean cruising but have a little river experience. My only European river past is in 2004 on Viking, Budapest to Nuremberg but I've also sailed the Nile and Yangtze (both Uniworld) and upper Amazon, plus several North American rivers, mostly on small ocean ships. I'll mention a couple of other Cruise Critic threads I've set up: I'll cover the entire Journey on the
  12. We'll be visiting Amsterdam next year, and both the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum say they limit the size of what you can bring in to small bags up to "A4 size." I'm a female and don't normally use purses or handbags when traveling (small backpacks are my preference), so I am a bit confused here. I have of course done some internet research before posting here, and it seems that A4 is pretty much 8.5 x 11 inches, but when it comes to a handbag, what does that really mean? A Google search for A4 handbags turns up zillions in varying sizes in terms of width, etc. They all look differe
  13. Is anyone familiar with this suite? It's one of the last available and we weren't sure about it's aft location. The concern is noise from above or below, ease of getting on/off for excursions. Thanks!
  14. My partner Charles and I look forward to another HAL TA crossing. Took the Koningsdam last year and had a wonderful cruise. Great food and service all around. Love the Tamarind Specialty Dining restaurant. This year spending 3 days in Rome pre-embarkation.
  15. The Nieuw Statendam is such a beautiful, new cruise ship, and I took a ton of photos when I was on board. If you're planning to sail on this ship in the future and want a sneak peak, I've got a photo tour featuring my verandah cabin and all the public spaces on the ship! If you're missing the ship or counting down the days until your next cruise (aren't we all!), maybe this will help fuel your wanderlust for cruising and bring back some great memories! You can see my entire cruise ship photo tour here >> https://justinpluslauren.com/nieuw-statendam-cruise-ship-photo-tour/
  16. Haven’t been in HAL in many years and I’m looking to try again and would appreciate any feedback. Our one and only HAL cruise was 9 years ago on the Maasdam. 14 days with the most amazing Caribbean itinerary. But we were bored on the ship. Best entertainment was the crew show. We really enjoyed that. Rest of the entertainment was a xylophone player and a violinist. Not our cup of tea. We've mostly sailed Princess, but it seems that with the new ships, the ship is the destination, Not the itinerary. Don’t get me wrong, the ship is very important, as is the itinerary. Quite fr
  17. Hi, I recently booked this 7-day cruise on the Amsterdam from Montreal to Boston. My wife is an avid "Anne of Green Gables" fan . Unfortunately it does appear that most shore excursions for Tuesday 18th of August do not provide a lot of time at the house and museum. If there are another couple on this cruise interested in sharing a tour with Target Tours Atlantic - "Anne of Green Gables Adventure - private tour" (C$428 total). We are travelling from Australia, you can contact us at my email : altony@optusnet.com.au cheers Tony Evans
  18. I am now booked on a HAL( came back from Princess) cruise sailing on the beautiful Nieuw Amsterdam. I booked a balcony cabin on deck 5, next to the elevator. I have been in a cabin like this before, but it was a while ago, and I don't remember. I would like to know how much of a view do you get from the elevator into my cabin. I not worried about the balcony view, just the cabin. Thank you
  19. Hello All, I'm back again for advice for those of you that know the Nieuw Statendam. I am currently booked in a Spa OV on a February trip to the Caribbean. I just noticed that the Save on Sunshine package for the month of October adds the SBP (although a non-refundable fare). The Spa OV cabins are sold out. Can you recommend OV cabins that you like? I would be most interested in not having a cabin above or below busy public spaces. Thank you, BaltimoreCruise
  20. NIEUW STATENDAM,the newest ship of Holland America ,makes her maiden arrival at Piraeus Port
  21. I am wondering if afternoon tea is still offered on HAL specifically the NS. I know the royal Dutch tea hasn't been offered in quite some time but my last experience on the Koningsdam, it was at 3 each sea day.
  22. New to Holland America and booked a 51 day So Pacific cruise. To my surprise I don't see a library on the deck plans. Please tell me there is a decent library on board. Husband and I are avid readers and kindle is not our favorite way to read.
  23. Well, we've been home just over a week and I finally get my trip review written and submitted so I am posting here as well. Thank you to everyone who contributes to this board as I spent hours reading through threads in preparation for our trip. Hopefully this review helps someone else. We decided about 18 months ago to take a trip for our 15th anniversary and we went with close friends who were married the same year. We are 2 couples ranging in age from mid-40's to early 50's, We selected Holland America because of their history cruising in Alaska. We also liked the idea of a small
