  1. What times are the early and late seatings in the main dining room on the Nieuw Statendam? Thanks
  2. We’re contemplating a fall 2020 transatlantic cruise on the Nieuw Amsterdam in an aft-facing cabin when the new itineraries come out and we are interested in hearing from folks that have sailed on a HAL transatlantic cruise in the past year or two. We are in our mid 60s and enjoy lectures, playing trivia, walking laps around the promenade and pretty much having organized fun on sea days. Also, do the cabins sill have DVD players? During slow times and in the evening after the show, as we don’t really like hanging out in the various lounges, we also bring along some dvds t
  3. We will be in Amsterdam in October. I have booked cruise excursions but none of them go to the Reijkmuseum. How far is the museum from the pier? Maybe we can buy tickets for when we have "free time". Sally PS: Can you reply to my email since sometimes I can't find where the answers to my questions are? sisally@si.rr.com. Thanks
  4. What's the best way to get from the airport into the city, train, taxi? We're staying at the Movenpik which is were the ship docks. Allan
  5. For our next cruise, I am looking at midship balconies on the Nieuw Statendam. I have found that my motion sickness is mitigated by having the foot of the bed nearest to the ship's bow so that when I sit up in bed I am facing forward. Is there any way to determine the bed placement in specific staterooms?
  6. What are the current night-time activities on the main stage? Any news of things changing before the holidays? thanks!
  7. Hi, how is sailing on HAL solo? Male 64 yrs. Going on Nieuw Statendam.
  8. The Signature Sisters are making their last visit to Juneau this season. Eurodam will be at the AS dock from 1300-2200. She will be headed to Hawaii and the Mexican Riviera before heading to FLL on November 16. Nieuw Amsterdam will be at the CT dock from 1300-2200. She will be leaving for FLL on September 28. NA will spend the summer of 2020 in Europe. Also in port are Carnival Legend at the FKL dock from 0700-1600 and Norwegian Joy at the AJ dock from 1500-2300. It will not be a very nice day for those visiting Juneau on Monday. The high will be 53F/12C and the l
  9. Good morning, all - I just got off the NA in a Neptune Suite, and here is what I observed with Club Orange: - We still had breakfast in the Pinnacle Grill. There is a sign outside the main dining room for Club Orange Priority Seating. I believe Club Orange guests were provided priority seating at breakfast and dinner. - I was in fixed seating on the upper deck of the dining room, so I did not take advantage of the priority seating. I can only report that I never saw a line downstairs at the CO sign, and I did observe people sitting at tables for 2 and 4. Perhaps the
  10. We are boarding her next week and my husband wants to know where mass is held. I am sure it is in the daily newsletter but he wants to be prepared. Thanks for any information you can pass on to us.
  11. Hi all, I am trying to decide between two cruises: one on Crown Princess and one on Holland America Nieuw Amsterdam. Both are the same week and about the same price. I've cruised on Princess many times, but never HA. Crown Princess 10-day Would be an obstructed view room with a window. I've been to three of these ports before. I've never sailed in anything less than a balcony. Princess Cays St. Thomas Curacao Dominica Bonaire Grenada Holland America 7-day Guarantee veranda, never been to any of these ports Key West
  12. If I get to the cruise ship terminal early .. Is there a canal tour that leaves rightt in front of the terminal ?
  13. We will be arriving in Amsterdam at 10:00 on a Saturday and taking the Train directly to the Port to board HAL Rotterdam. Is there any where around the Port/Train station where we can purchase wine to Carry Aboard? Even at the Airport possibly? We will try to buy some at Duty Free - but just in case, wondered if there might be an easy to access location. TIA LeslieW
  14. We previously sailed on the Amsterdam and spent many evenings in the Crow's Nest Bar. We booked on the Nieuw Amsterdam for Thanksgiving, so I was browsing photos of the ship. Did they turn the Crow's Nest into the Explorations Cafe? Is there no longer a bar up there???
  15. Hi. is there music playing on the lido deck either a band or DJ ?
  16. I am booked on a TA with NCL Getaway from Copenhagen to NOLA next month. I booked a tour with them for the Rotterdam port for a tour of Amsterdam. They will transport you to Amsterdam, guide you to a boat ride and leisure on your own for 3 hours. NCL shore excursions staff do not know where you will be dropped off in Amsterdam following the one hour boat ride on the canal. Does anyone know what part of Amsterdam you are dropped off in or the name of the area for the canal tours? Tazzy0831
  17. My wife and I sailed on the August 31 Nieuw Amsterdam Alaska cruise, roundtrip from Vancouver with visits to Tracy Arm Inlet/Juneau, Skagway, Glacier Bay, and Ketchikan. I'm not writing a full review, but I wanted to share some notes and impressions from the cruise. This was not our first Alaska cruise. My wife and I took one on Princess in 2002, and I did two previous Alaska cruises in the 90's, one on Celebrity and the other on RCCL. I've been on many cruises but only once on HAL, and that was almost 25 years ago. It was the first time on HAL for my wife. EMBARKATION
  18. I understand that this is a "pop up" experience. But, where does it pop up? For those who have done this (and I know this is very subjective), is it work the $49 charge?
  19. This is the last full week of ships in Juneau although there will be no HAL ship on Wednesday. Eurodam will be at the AS dock from 1300-2300 and Nieuw Amsterdam at the CT dock from 1300-2200. Also in port is Ruby Princess at the FKL dock from 1100-2215. There is a 100% chance of rain with a high of 55F/13C and a low of 43F/6C. Sunrise is at 6:29 am and sunset at 7:15 pm. The PTZtv webcam can be found at https://www.juneauharborwebcam.com/. Next up: Oosterdam and Noordam on Tuesday.
  20. We were on the Rotterdam in April and there was containers of lemonade available all day long that you could help yourself to. Can anyone confirm if that's the case on the Nieuw Statendam or if lemonade is only available during set meal times?
  21. We’ve been to Amsterdam a couple of times and will be there by cruise ship 4 different times for a day each time next year by cruise ship. I’m looking for ideas. We’ve seen the things we want to see in town and will probably spend at least one day just wandering because that is so much fun there. Thinking of going to Keukenhof for the tulips on our early May stop (I know there may not be tulips then), going to Haarlam for the day on our mid May stop. Got another stop late May and one day plus part of another day in August. We board One day and overnight before sailing at 3pm the following
  22. Hi, does anyone know if the tables are the same in the dining room as Koningsdam? I really want to make sure we have a window this time. We didn't have one in Norway and it was really disappointing! I looked on halfacts, they only had Koningsdam. Thanks for any info.
  23. August 14 to Sept 3, 2019 It was a great trip, hope I have done it justice here. August 13. Our flight from DFW to Amsterdam was uneventful, which we like. We got through the airport and out to a taxi stand. We took the next taxi and what do you know it was a Tesla! Neat. We had a nice ride to out hotel. We like to stay at Motel One in Europe. Not elegant or spacious, we are there for just around 24 hours, but they usually have nice convenient locations, which this one did. We have visited Amsterdam several times in the past but there are still things for us to see. This
  24. Where does the New Statendam dock in Key West?
  25. Moderators, please don't move this to the Ports of Call board. I have already asked there, and while I got useful information about transportation options in Amsterdam, no one has been able to answer my question about this specific NCL excursion. I am hoping a fellow NCL cruiser knows the answer. My question is about NCL's "Amsterdam on Your Own" excursion, which provides transportation to "the center of town." After being dropped off, people go off on their own and then return to a prearranged point for transportation back to the ship. To anyone who has been on this excursion
