  1. Hello, I am currently trying to book return airfare from Amsterdam for June 2021 (crossing my fingers....) and I'm trying to decide what the absolute earliest flight I could make if we self disembark. Some in our party can not take the additional day off work the next day and most other flights have us arriving the next day. We are on NCL Jade, itinerary says we arrive at 7am. Thanks in advance.
  2. Anyone have any recommendations for private tours of Amsterdam? We’re looking for a tour of the city and are not interested in a walking tour.
  3. Here’s our situation. We will arrive 4 days early for our cruise, We would like to stay somewhere close to public transportation, on a canal, not too far from cruise port and centrally located. We do not need a luxury hotel, we usually book boutique type hotels. Any suggestions appreciated. TIA
  4. Is an 11:50am flight doable from the ship to the airport? I was there a long time ago but don’t remember the distance.
  5. Can anyone recommend a hotel near the Anne Frank House. I have a client that cannot walk too far and would like something in that area. The next day she is going on Viking and can get transportation. Thank you.
  6. With the loss of the Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Maasdam & Veendam, I have removed all sailings on the future cruise listing for anyone sailing on the 4 sold ships. (Hopefully I didn’t miss anything 🙏🏻). It’s entirely possible that HAL might transfer some of these sailings to other ships that are remaining in the fleet. If that is the case for you, please repost your cruise details on the Future Cruise Listing just as you did originally. Here is the link for this week’s listing - Thank you 🙂
  7. Since the news of Amsterdam leaving the fleet, I guess the next question is if and when cruising resumes, w:-)hich ship will be selected to do the annual HAL World Cruise when it is scheduled. Volendam is now the oldest ship in the fleet maybe HAL will use her. (Likewise HAL could also use Zaandam). I'm not sure HAL would use one of the larger ships as reading the blogs of passengers over the years it seems to me that Amsterdam was never at capacity. But I am not a HAL expert. Which ship do you think HAL will use for their "World Cruise" in the future??? Btw: just checked my
  8. I'm incredibly sad that our beloved Amsterdam has been sold. I knew some of the ships would go but not her. So, I know that many of us have fabulous memories of cruises on the Amsterdam so please share them here. Our first time sailing on the Amsterdam was a trans Atlantic from Ft. Lauderdale to Civitavecchia, Italy. I think it was a 16 day sailing and was our longest at the time. I'd also never been to Europe (I wouldn't fly) so it was the perfect way to get there. We absolutely loved the cruise; the elegance, the coffee bar (free at the time, located outside the Wajang Thea
  9. As the Rotterdam & Amsterdam are headed to Fred Olsen Cruises would you sail w that line instead of HAL???
  10. Has anyone cruised this ship and this cabin. It appears by it self. So it could be awesome or a closet that was converted to a cabin. Let me know please
  11. I'm going to be optimistic and believe we're taking our river cruise planned for April 2021. Does anyone know of a grocery/supermarket near the river cruise port in Amsterdam?
  12. Can someone tell me how much the lifeboats below block the view from this cabin? Are we better off with 5177 or 6169. thanks!
  13. Should I take a cabin Port or Starboard going from Basel to Amsterdam. Or, does it make any matter?
  14. I just booked a Neptune guarantee on the Nieuw Statendam (sister ship to Koningsdam) and was wondering about the 4 Neptune cabins that are far forward on decks 10 and 11. Has anyone stayed in these and if so, how did you like them?
  15. Is the Pinnacle suite shower on the Nieuw Statendam the real small shower like in the pinnacle on the Volendam? The drawing shows it bigger but the only video i can find shows it being one of those round things that are very small.
  16. We were on the Holland America Amsterdam 2020 128 day World Cruise that left Ft Lauderdale January 4th. The cruise was terminated after 2 months on March 22nd in Perth Australia by Holland and all passengers were forced to leave the ship and pay for our own flights home. We had purchased Holland’s Platinum Insurance that was to cover us for the entire 128 day trip. We have not received any of that insurance money back and when I inquired they said it was being decided on a case by case basis. We have received some of the cruise fare returned but every refund has been less than the amount due
  17. Just booked British Isles next May do they offer the City stay program for Amsterdam? Agent said it was no posted information at this time. Has anyone done this in previous years? How was it and what was the cost? Do you recommend it? Also how far out can you get quote on Celebrity Air.
  18. Hello, We are sailing on NCL from Amsterdam in May and are looking for somewhere to stay for 1 night. It is a multi generational family trip of 12 people. Normally we do Caribbean from a Florida port and book a 2-3 bedroom condo that sleeps everyone. Is there anything similar in Amsterdam? Hotels appear to be very pricey and accommodate 2-3 guests max. TIA
  19. Is it (still) possible to get a discount on parking at the PTA in Amsterdam through Celebrity?
  20. We are looking at both the Amsterdam Vista and Neptune suites. What Vista Suite and/or what Neptune Suite would you ask about if you were making a new booking?
  21. Do you have a favorite hotel in Amsterdam or Rome? With our last cruise half completed (the 2020 world), our next cruise cancelled by us (first portions of 2021 world) because of port and virus concerns, we are trying to keep our Seabourn bubble of happiness by looking ahead to a cruise in the fall of 2021. Any hotel suggestions would be appreciated!
  22. I normally wouldn't book a cabin anywhere near the theater, but this was a casino deal, and I had very little choice. Any insight is greatly appreciated. I thank you in advance.
  23. A few days ago I posted a travelouge of a visit to Amsterdam (on MV Marco Polo) to my Travel Photography Channel on YouTube - if you are planing to visit it there it might give you some ideas of things to see, do and photograph in the city. You can find the travelogue here: I've also posted a short photography technique video that I shot while I was visiting the city. It's all about how we can improve our travel photos by using repetition in the images. It's only 3min 48s long and the techniques are applicable for any camera whether is a DSLR, a "point-and-
  24. Good morning. Well, since our much anticipated cruise and land trip to Alaska was cancelled for this month,we had booked a cruise for August next year on the Ryndam. Then Covid 19 happened. I thought better of it,and discussed it with hub,and we decided flying may not be a good idea yet next year. So I rebooked our trip for a 2 week east west Caribbean on the Nieu Amsterdam with the Have it all perks, and got a Signature Suite on 6th floor midship. We're doing this for our anniversary in January. I've been reading about all the possible new things that may be taking place, and we'll be fine with
  25. Hi everyone! I am contemplating booking an aft facing veranda for an Eastern Caribbean in April. We sailed in one on the Eurodam to the Mexican Riviera in December of 2018. We loved everything about it with one exception. There was a strange vibration that wasn't constant. It would come and go. Is this typical of aft facing verandas, or was there maybe an issue with the ship? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! My other options are one of the angled balconies on either deck 4 (partially obstructed) or deck 8. Thanks in advance!! Chris
