    Nieuw Amsterdam spa pass

Can anyone tell me how to search the forums? It used to be so easy. I was able to search for things within specific categories, ie: Holland America: Nieuw Amsterdam spa pass. Now, I don't see that option. Anyhow, does anyone know how much the Spa access pass on the Nieuw Amsterdam 7 day cruise is? Is there a special on board on specific days? We like to use the thalassotherapy (hydrospa pool) daily. Thank you.😊
  2. We're booked on NS next month. Could anyone provide me with a copy ot the (bottle ) wines offered in the MDR and prices (which I guess is part of the. Menu, or. Wine List)? Dont need info for specialty dining...wont be going. Also, what is their corkage fee? Trying to see if its worth it to bring on a couple of extra bottles of el cheapo wine & pay the corkage vs buying off the menu? Help? thanks. hic!

  4. so....we just booked NS for a 7-day Caribbean run in April. Anyone been on 'er? Please tell me all about her? Thanks!
  5. As many of you know I recently completed a one week voyage on the NIEUW STATENDAM and I thought you would want a few observations.. I will be brief. I hate to say it but this is the new mid size. That was made clear to me when we were in Cozumel and docked next to The Harmony of the Seas. The Nieuw Statendam looked like a tug boat next to this monster ship. That being said, I still prefer the Signature Class Ships. My friar is they will get bigger and bigger.in the future. One thing I do not like is the promenade walk around deck. It is too narrow . It was good that they moved the Lincoln Center performers to the Queens lounge. However since they now share the space with the BB Kings Blues Venue, the classical music does not go that late. &:30 they are furnished. This ship and the Koningsdam cannot go through the New Locks in the Panama Canal. It has to do with the fact that lifeboats are out way to far. I understand that the next ship they will be relocated closer to the ship and hopefully more like they are on the other classes of ships. Maybe we will even get a decent size Promenade Deck in the next one. I had a nice room on the Navigation Deck (8059) midway between the Forward and Mid ship elevators. The problem was it was right below the Lido pull area and I could heart them dragging tables and chars late at night as I was trying to go to sleep. I liked this ship better that the Koningsdam but I still favor the Vista and Signature Class ships. I miss those Sea View Elevators at the mid ship. I also notice that there are not as many offerings at Dinner as HAL used to offer. For instance, we used to get three soups offered each evening: A broth soup, a cream soup and a cold soup. Not there is one but I think you can still get French Onion. It also seemed that there are fewer options on the minu but you can purchase a President Cut Steak for another &%.00. Baked Alaska is gone from the minuet on the last night of the cruise. The have a Chocolate offering on the last Gala night but with Diabetes, I took a rain check. These are my observations. I will be Chaplain on b2b Cruises on the Nieuw Amsterdam in June. It will be nice to get back on a Signature Ship. If you to the time to read these thoughts and observations, thanks for reading them . They are subjective. They were written in that spirit.
  6. Hello, all! We are sailing on the Nieuw Amsterdam in an SS Suite and have two questions about the sofa bed for the 3rd person: 1. Does anyone have any pictures of the sofa bed made into a bed? 2. Does anyone know how long the bed will be or the maximum recommended height of the person sleeping in it? This information would be helpful, as we are considering upgrading to a Neptune Suite, thinking the sofa bed might be a bit longer --- that might not be the case, though. Any insight would be appreciated! Thanks! 🙂
  7. We have a spring break cruise in 2020 book for the Nieuw Statendam booked, and as excited as I am, curious to hear about how many kids and any reports from Club HAL - so far, not a lot of family reviews. We originally had a Disney 4 day booked, but at almost 2k less and 3 more days, this was a easy choice, buuut, I'd feel better knowing that our 8 and 13 year old are going to have fun too:)

    Sauna on Nieuw Statendam

Where is the sauna located? Is there a fee? Are there separate saunas for men and women?
  9. So confused about HAL cruise offerings. I am between these two sailings on August 3 Nieuw Amersterdam Vancouver Roundtrip and August 4 Westerdam Southbound from Seward to Vancouver. We only have time to do the 7 day cruise, so no land addons. Which itinerary is overall better? Which ship? What sorts of things should I be considering?
  10. It’s a very busy Sail Away day today. 8 ships in Port Everglades and 3 in Tampa. Should be lots of action for this one, for sure. 11. Hello and welcome aboard our cruise on the Nieuw Statendam starting tomorrow. Currently we are leaving cold Ohio and heading toward warm Ft Lauderdale. On on our trip, I’ll be providing information and photos of the ship, hotels and food. If if you have questions, please ask. Thank you you and welcome aboard!
  12. We are looking to book a scooter accessible cabin on NA. Seems there are no fully accessible cabins available, but 5001 shows up as partially accessible. I've tried searching for pictures or descriptions but found nothing. Has anyone been in 5001? Would it be suitable for someone with a scooter? Thanks for any feedback.

    Nieuw Statendam

Anyone sailing on the Nieuw Statendam November 17, 2019. My wife and I will be sailing with my Daughter and Son in Law. Would like to connect with any others folks that will be traveling on the Nieuw Statendam
  14. Can someone tell me does the NA still have a Library. And does it have Lincoln Center and Tamarind ? OP thinking of taking the cross Atlantic.
  15. We are considering a cruise on the Nieuw Amsterdam. We have sailed on the Vista class ships (Westerdam, Zuiderdam) but not on the Signature class. We really liked the aft balcony cabins on Deck 5 (like 5185) because of the extra long balcony with loungers as well as a table, chairs and footstool. We also liked the fact that these balconies are fully covered. Can someone tell me, are the aft balconies on NA similar? Does choosing an aft on deck 5 (like 5193) similar to those on Vista class, and do the balconies get smaller and more exposed as you go up? Also, does anyone know when Explore 4 usually starts? We are looking at cruising in Dec 2019 and can't decide whether to book now (and purchase drink package later) or wait for Explore 4. Thanks! Sharon
  16. We booked this cruise on February 15th and it sailed on the the 24th . Unfortunately , all of the Neptune Suites were sold out but they did have our favorite aft view in a VS verandah # 5200 . This was our 10th aft view verandah and it turned out to be , by far , the smallest . We thought that we would try the Club Orange to receive some of the NS type of perks . After clearing security we went to the express check in where the camera wasn't working . They used our Zaandam photos from December . After dropping our bags we headed to the MDR for lunch . The elevators were quite warm and with all the lights and reflective surfaces reminded me of the old toy Easy Bake Oven . The Lobster Shack looked good so we ordered it for the next day at Half Moon Cay Lunch at a table for 2 with a view . The service and the food was very good in the MDR and it was nice and quite .
  17. Hello! I have called ship services and they weren't able to answer my question. For those of you who have sailed on the Nieuw Statendam or Koningsdam, are they able to accommodate 11 people in the main dining room or in a specialty dining restaurant? Ship services said no to the main dining room, but they were unsure of any specialty restaurants. We are looking to keep our group together for the first night and the remainder of the cruise, everyone will pretty much do their own thing. Thanks!
  18. hi we are booking the nieuw statendam june 30th cruise to the fjords, and we are looking at cabin 6121, which is directly across from the elevators - i was wondering if there was a wall between the elevator banks and the rooms, i am somewhat concerned about the noise, we are trying to locate near my sister also travelling on the ship = but further down the hall from teh elevator banks. has anyone had experience with rooms this close to the elevators? thanks for the help
  19. I Have benefited from numerous reviews so I thought it was time I returned the favor. Here is my review of the 2/24-3/3 Western Caribbean itinerary on the Nieuw Statendam. There were four of us – DH, DS and DD. We had two cabins. DH and I were in a Neptune Suite and our adult children were in a veranda room 7134. Nice size veranda but the smallest bathroom I have ever seen. Embarkation – easy we arrived at the cruise terminal around 11 and were on board by 12 noon and both rooms were ready. FYI – there were seven cruise ships in port that day. Several of them seemed to follow us all week. There has been a lot of chatter on CC regarding Club Orange. Since Club Orange is included in a NS I purchased the upgrade for our children so they could embark with us and join us for dinner and breakfast. I loved Club Orange. I did not feel like I was in a fishbowl or on display in any way. I appreciated the quiet attentive service, the soft jazz music playing in the background that added the perfect touch of ambiance without being intrusive. The staff is top notch and they got to know our family quite well. We dined there for dinner four times and breakfast twice. It never seemed too busy and that’s the point. I liked the calm quiet atmosphere. I am not sure how many extra passes were sold. I would be interested to know. I think there are 20 NS on this ship. The food is the same as in the main dining room with an extra entre offered each night. Most of the meal is prepared in the kitchen within CO. As I mentioned, I feel CO is a wonderful benefit for NS guests. However, I don’t think I would purchase it separately if I were in a different room. Because it is expensive. Retreat area – We purchased two retreat cabanas for the trip. The family cabana is not big enough for four people and I did not want to break the rules and try to stuff four into a standard cabana. It was hot up there but we had shade and a private hot tub which was really nice. There were three stewards taking care of the guests all week. Jeff, Gerald and Alwine. Great guys, helpful and accommodating. You can order lunch and drinks. The area is open 9-5 each day. This was my happy place for the week. Ports – Truth be told we do a Caribbean cruise to relax not necessary to get off the ship. However, we did do an excursion on HMC the ECO Bike and Kayak. DS, DD and I were the only three on the excursion which took us around parts of the island – stables, stingray cove and to the Bone Fish Lagoon where we kayaked. This was a fun way to spend the morning away from the crowds and to see parts of the island I had not seen before. And there were crowds the Koningsdam was also in port that day. I have never seen so many people on HMC in the four times I have been there. We left early to go back to the ship. We don’t like the BBQ lunch so the Lido Deck was calling. Ocho Rios – Reynolds Pier - WHAT A DUMP. Holland America should be embarrassed to dock at this pier. It looks like abandoned industrial pier. It is a good half mile from the shopping area in the main cruise port and from fellow passengers told me who attempted to walk it, not an easy walk or pleasant. You walk on the side of a busy road around construction while local children try to sell you trinkets. My DS and DD did do a ship tour the Tranopy & Bobsled tour and enjoyed the experience. Georgetown, Grand Cayman – Knowing there were seven ships in port that day so we arranged a private catamaran tour on Sail with Friends. We took a taxi to the Cayman Island Yacht Club, easy and Alice from Sale with Friends called head for a taxi to meet us when we got back. It was a great day and a highlight of our trip. Cozumel – We only got off the ship to have a drink at Margaretville. Dining: We ate once in the main dining room which was a disappointment. That night the menu was not that good. We ate twice in the Pinnacle Grill which was delicious both times. We each had something different each night and never had an issue with the quality of the food. Lido Market was really good, we ate B/L there most days. The Dive In is wonderful. The NYC deli sandwiches are good according to DH and DS. Entertainment: we listed to the BB King band – good; the classical music group each night – very nice and the dueling piano players once – just okay IMO. The in room movie selection is great and there is a different movie in the Lido pool area each night. Disembarkation - Again easy we took the Holland America bus transfer tot he airport. The ship is beautiful and the staff is amazing. We had a wonderful time. If anyone has any questions I will be happy to try to answer them. Bon Voyage!

    Nieuw Statendam Casino

Can anyone tell me if the Nieuw Statendam casino has a Let It Ride Poker gaming table?
  21. Considering a Transatlantic on NS in 2020. (New to HAL, former Princess cruisers). Can anyone answer the following: Are the aft veranda staterooms (VS category) covered, specifically on Deck 8? Other decks? Is there a mini-fridge or cooler in the stateroom? Can I bring aboard canned soda (tonic water, LaCroix, etc.) Is there still a sitting area, couch, loveseat, etc. Princess is removing seating from their balcony cabins which is why we are changing lines. Thanks for any advice!
  22. Hi, could someone tell me how many electric plugs in the NA verandah cabins and where they’re located? Thanks!
  23. It is going to be a VERY busy day in Port Everglades today. And, we have 2 blue hulled beauties sailing from there & 1 from Tampa. The Nieuw Statendam is scheduled to be at pier 21 and is doing two different itineraries. The first is the 7 day Eastern Caribbean: And the 2nd is the 14 day Eastern/Western Caribbean: The Nieuw Amsterdam is schedule to be at pier 26 and will be doing the lovely 14 day Panamal Canal: Also in port: Celebrity Edge (pier 25), Celebrity Silhouette (pier29), Costa Delisiosa (pier 19), Harmony Of The Seas (pier 18) and Regal Princess (pier 02) The webcams can be found at https://www.portevergladeswebcam.com & https://www.ftlauderdalewebcam.com The Rotterdam will be doing a 7 day Western Caribbean out of Tampa as well as a 21 day Western/Southern Caribbean. The webcam is located at https://www.porttampawebcam.com For the Addicts - the Koningsdam is in Aruba & the Volendam is sailing out of San Diego on a 15 day Panama Canal. And, the Rotterdam will be in Aruba on March 4th. Next up is the Koningsdam on March 6th.
  24. My cruise is fast approaching, a transatlantic on the new Nieuw Statendam. For those who have been on her, has anyone stayed in either an extended balcony forward on deck 4 (over the world stage) or in a deck 10 forward facing oceanview? I am right now in the forward facing deck 10 oversized oceanview at 239 sq. ft. I see I could probably upsell for a few hundred dollars to either a deck 4 over world stage (worried about noise) but it as the extended balcony or on deck 6, a standard balcony cabin. The only downside is I will lose my prepaid gratuities. Since it is transatlantic, my husband says last time we did it, we didn't spend all that much time on the balcony. I normally do, but you go days with only seeing water.
  25. looking at booking oceanview stateroom on Deck 1 in area of #1116 ...soon!...on the NS and would appreciate any comments as to location pros & cons? preferably from those that have been on her.? thanks all!
