  1. Hi, could someone tell me how many electric plugs in the NA verandah cabins and where they’re located? Thanks!
  2. It is going to be a VERY busy day in Port Everglades today. And, we have 2 blue hulled beauties sailing from there & 1 from Tampa. The Nieuw Statendam is scheduled to be at pier 21 and is doing two different itineraries. The first is the 7 day Eastern Caribbean: And the 2nd is the 14 day Eastern/Western Caribbean: The Nieuw Amsterdam is schedule to be at pier 26 and will be doing the lovely 14 day Panamal Canal: Also in port: Celebrity Edge (pier 25), Celebrity Silhouette (pier29), Costa Delisiosa (pier 19), Harmony Of The Seas (pier 18) and Regal Princess (pier 02) The webcams can be found at https://www.portevergladeswebcam.com & https://www.ftlauderdalewebcam.com The Rotterdam will be doing a 7 day Western Caribbean out of Tampa as well as a 21 day Western/Southern Caribbean. The webcam is located at https://www.porttampawebcam.com For the Addicts - the Koningsdam is in Aruba & the Volendam is sailing out of San Diego on a 15 day Panama Canal. And, the Rotterdam will be in Aruba on March 4th. Next up is the Koningsdam on March 6th.
  3. My cruise is fast approaching, a transatlantic on the new Nieuw Statendam. For those who have been on her, has anyone stayed in either an extended balcony forward on deck 4 (over the world stage) or in a deck 10 forward facing oceanview? I am right now in the forward facing deck 10 oversized oceanview at 239 sq. ft. I see I could probably upsell for a few hundred dollars to either a deck 4 over world stage (worried about noise) but it as the extended balcony or on deck 6, a standard balcony cabin. The only downside is I will lose my prepaid gratuities. Since it is transatlantic, my husband says last time we did it, we didn't spend all that much time on the balcony. I normally do, but you go days with only seeing water.
  4. looking at booking oceanview stateroom on Deck 1 in area of #1116 ...soon!...on the NS and would appreciate any comments as to location pros & cons? preferably from those that have been on her.? thanks all!
  5. Does anyone know where I can find the layout for the dining room of NS? If not, do you know if it is the same (with same table numbers) as the Koningsdam? Thank you.
  6. Looking to book a category FA (family cabin) as a party of five. It is very important to me that the pull down bunk be over the sofa rather than the bed. Does anyone know which FA staterooms have the bed over the couch? Holland America doesn't seem to know when asked over the phone. I was thinking that perhaps people who have been on the ship will have some insight.
  7. I have been considering continuing the process from the last two weeks with a continuing discussion. So here it is! This morning I was on Nieuw Statendam as we arrived in Fort Lauderdale. This afternoon I am on Nieuw Amsterdam getting ready to head on on pretty much the same itinerary as last week. Why? Because I can and because I haven't been on Nieuw Amsterdam yet. Additionally, it just worked out. Nieuw Amsterdam was booked several months ago. Contrary to my recent history, this was booked as a guarantee cabin like I did to begin with. I received a cabin assignment about 10 days ago getting a reasonable ocean view cabin. Last Friday I received an email from HAL advising me that my cabin had changed. That is why I am now sitting in a Verandah Stateroom on the Nieuw Amsterdam. For the record it is cabin 5100, pictures already provided to HALfacts. Because of several factors, this is not going to be an "apples to apples" comparison. The biggest reason is solo cabin on NS to Verandah on NA. I have much more room this week and a good location. This cabin is right next to the outside glass elevators on deck 5. This makes it very convenient to the Lido for meals, and equally accessible to the MDR and Showroom. The cabin is very nice, the stewards have introduced themselves and it is almost time for the muster drill. Since these cruises are a week apart, it will be easy to compare entertainment. NA has had the upgrade to the Music Walk, so the offerings should be similar. As I did for the last two weeks, the dinner menus for tonight are attached. Feb24LIdodinner.pdf Feb24dinner.pdf
  8. Does the Nieuw Statendam have any night lighting in the bathroom? thanks

  10. tThe Nieuw Statendam seems to be almost a duplicate of the Koningsdam (aside from the artwork) except in one place. As I understand (haven't sailed it yet) the Crows Nest on the NS has been fitted out in the new style, with the Explorations Cafe merged into the bar, the Excursions office move up to the starboard side, the Captain's Room converted to a lecture space, and big video screens in the middle. We were afraid that the Koningsdam would be retrofit in that style during its December drydock, as has been happening to the older ships. Fortunately not ! The Koningsdam Crows Nest still has the traditional layout, except for being carpeted all the way across instead of having a dance floor. There are a large number of comfortable chairs of various styles in various groupings. A very pleasant place for a lot of passengers to relax.
  11. Good morning friends. I arrived in Ft. Lauderdale yesterday around 3:30 PM after a nice flight on United. I have a room on the starboard side mid ship on the Navigation deck. The upgrade ferry tried to get ahold of me but I didn't go on line until late last evening. Oh well, better luck next time. IIt was supposed to rain this morning but so far, so sunny. I can see Port Everglades from my hotel room anr the Oosterdam is visable as is the Caribbean Princess. More later.
  12. For those of you recently on the Nieuw Statendam do you know which days they offered High Tea service? Do they still offer a daily tea as well? That is one of my favorite parts of cruising so I want to plan my itinerary around it! Thanks in advance!
  13. Doing an inside cabin for the first time on the Nieuw Statendam (cabin I-6112). Does anyone know if they have a fridge in these cabins? Thanks! Helen
  14. The two newest ships for Holland America are traveling together from St. Thomas to Half Moon Cay. This is Koningsdam as seen off the port side of Nieuw Statendam
  15. Hi, I have booked a July sailing on this ship. Have only been on the Westerdam years ago. How does this ship differ from the Westerdam? Is there a therapy pool on here and if so does anyone know the charges. Also how are the specialty restaurants? Opinions of this ship for the Alaska itinerary? Do they have onboard lecturers, etc. Also is the MDR food good. The staterooms as well opinions. Thank you
  16. We are our cruise in June - 7 day Alaska Inside Passage on the Nieuw Amsterdam. Can anyone give me some idea of how long it is likely to take to disembark in Vancouver? We arrive in Vancouver at 7am on 29/6. Is there some system they use for disembarking? Thanks
  17. Does anyone know if the balconies between staterooms can be opened on the Nieuw Statendam? Thank you.
  18. What are the prices right now. We leave in a month.
  19. What is the process for the NS muster drill? We will on in November. Thanks
  20. Need help with booking a private excursion in Stavanger. Came across 2 . Rodne Fjord Cruise which specializes in sightseeing tours in the Lysefjord or Classic Lysefjord Safari aboard a high speed RIB boat
  21. Hi everyone, I apologise as this has doubtless been answered before - however I’ve trawled the various beverage threads to no avail! Sailing onboard Nieuw Statendam next month - I’m looking into purchasing the $25 for $50 soda card. I’m just a little unsure as to exactly which beverages are available via this - is it literally only fizzy soft drinks such as coke or sprite which would be included with this, or are there other soft drinks such as juices or ice tea? Thank you for your help!
  22. We will be traveling on the NS in April. Our itinerary states disembarkation starts at 7am on a Sunday at Port Everglades. How long does the process take? Booking return airfare and wondering what would be the earliest time of day for a return flight home. I know there can be problems which may arise, which would inevitably mean a flight change, but what is the norm for getting off this ship? Not interested in staying overnight as we all need to return to work and school on Monday barring any catastrophes. Thanks!
