  1. I've always found POA1 to be helpful and full of lots of good info and advice. And he shares it in a friendly non condescending way. Kazu, could you please add Daisyloo to the December 5 sailing of the Nieuw Statendam. Thanks for all your hard work!
  2. From CC reporters on Nieuw Statendam re: Rolling Stone Rock Room: We're curious to see the reaction to Rolling Stone Rock Room when the ship launches. The "venue" is spacious and well laid out -- with a large dance floor in front of the stage and plenty of seating -- but we'd like to see some connection to the line's partnership with Rolling Stone -- such as dedicated artwork or signage.
  3. This preview of some of the venues only whets my anticipation for my January cruise on Nieuw Statendam. I also would like to learn more details about Club Orange. No Culinary Arts Center? No loss in my opinion and the America's Test Kitchen concept can be trashed as well. The programs are repetitive from one cruise to another. How many times does one need to learn how to "properly" prepare salmon? And, since tastings of the items being prepared are no longer offered, I can find a better use of my cruise time than attending these entertainment programs.
  4. Agree with everything everyone else has posted. We prefer Deck 7, then 6, port side VD cabins more toward the aft close to the aft elevators. We spend most of our time at the Sea View pool, Lido buffet and MDR, so this is good location for us. Be careful of rooms on deck 8, as noise from activities on Lido deck 9 can interrupt your sleep depending on what you are under. Don't care for the deck 10 and 11 cabins with the "juliette" balconies (very small) and you feel "ocean motion" being up that high and forward. Each letter step is about 30.00 pp in fare, starting at V to VF. Many of the deck 4 rooms are obstructed views with lifeboats or tenders, and deck 5 look down on an orange tender roof. We will be on our 4th Kdam cruise Jan 4th, and have an AS Vista suite on deck 7 Aft Facing. This will be our first Aft Facing so we'll see how we like it. Had Vista suite 8099 on one cruise and there was a lot of "trolley" noise at night from the Lido buffet area on and off all night long. Was very annoying. You will love the Nieuw Statendam and all the great dining options. Enjoy your cruise.
  5. Sheer speculation on my part, but I am wondering if the 3rd Pinnacle's proposed name of Nieuw Ryndam has been dropped, could it be that there is some consideration of returning Pacific Aria, aka Ryndam, to HAL? P&O Australia has sold Pacific Eden, aka Statendam. Perhaps P&O Australia wants to remove Pacific Aria from their fleet as well.
  6. Good toot! Bon voyage, Volendam A question for the Sailaway Gang. We will be on the premier voyage of Nieuw Statendam and we get in to FLL on December 18, but don't have to disembark until the 19th. Our itinerary doesn't say what time we arrive, does anyone have any idea what time ships arrive if they come in the day before disembarkation? Also, will you be watching? I would try to be somewhere good to wave if so! Maybe even request a wave!!
  7. The wine packages will be redesigned in the near future. HAL has entered into yet another partnership, this time wine James Suckling. He will be coming up with new wine packages for HAL. It sounds like the new packages will be in place by the end of this year, in time for the Nieuw Statendam's launch. https://www.caribjournal.com/2018/03/05/holland-america-taps-james-suckling-curate-wine-lists/# Linda R.
  8. I agree with you. This "Nieuw" BS has to end, and hopefully after Statendam comes out.
  9. Perhaps we will get an announcement just before, or just after, Nieuw Statendam's launch at the end of the year.
  10. As of today; there are three Pinnacle-class vessels planned; Koningsdam, Nieuw Statendam and the unnamed coming out in 2021. That's not to say there won't be more in the future as Prinsendam and the last two "S"-class ships are leaving
  11. I am booked on the Viking Saga on the Rotterdam in June 2019. Oslo was a must-stop for our group of 6, as my maternal grandmother was born there. I am so excited and can't wait to explore Norway. We splurged on a Neptune suite since we are going for my (small milestone) birthday. Which is also how we chose the Rotterdam over the Nieuw Statendam, we couldn't get a Neptune suite when we were looking.
  12. I am new to CC and posted this enquiry just before the close down to re-design CC Forums etc. and cannot find my earlier post or any replies so here goes again. I was diagnosed as a Celiac a few years ago and have done one HAL cruise since my diagnosis so through that and reading many posts on gluten free I am reasonably informed on HAL options generally. But I have found little advice on what gluten free options are available at the Grand Dutch Café and Tamarind on the Koningsdam. I am using the Koningsdam as a guide as we are booked on a cruise to Norway on the Nieuw Statendam (to be commissioned later this year) and I assume it will be able to offer the same as the Koningsdam. Any advice would be welcomed.
  13. Thanks to everyone for the help. I booked both cruises as a 14 day B2B on the Nieuw Statendam out of Amsterdam for June 21,2020. We have Vista suite 4119 on deck 4. Vista cabins were only available on decks 4 or 8. I prefer a deck with cabins above and below. I got the impression from the HAL rep that cabins are released over time and not all available when the cruise opens for bookings. Does that sound correct? If a vista cabin on decks 5-7 opens up I may try to change cabins. Rick
