Hi does anyone recommend jewel of the seas or freedom of the seas for any reason? There are two similar itineraries I’m decking between? We are both middle aged and no kids. Thank you.

When on your cruise do you pay for tips during your cruise or on your way off the boat? I have been told by my sister and father that in order to get off the boat you have to make these payments. Does anyone have any insight on this to clear my worries about how this works beforehand. Sent from my SM-G950U using Forums mobile app

    Royal Caribbean vs Disney

I'm considering a cruise for my family (boys ages 10, 8 and 7) for 2020. We've never been on a cruise and I'm wondering if paying double for a Disney cruise makes sense for us. My two concerns are food and activities. We keep kosher and would be eating reheated prepackaged kosher meals on both cruise lines. I know that food is a major part of cruising and not getting the full "package" of the cool food takes away some of the value. Also, we probably wouldn't do a lot of excursions so I'd like a full roster of things to do on the ship. I see that both lines have kids clubs, but my oldest would be in a separate club from the other 2 on RC, they would all be together on Disney. He's not a real independent kid so I'm worried he'd fight me on going to a club alone. Also, are there enough adult and kid activities to keep us busy during the day on RC? We don't gamble. I looked through the RC site and most activities seem to be in the evening or involve food. Disney seems to have stuff going on all day. I'm sorry if this is rambling, I'm just trying to get some thoughts on my choices. Thank you!

    Royal Caribbean Website

Until today, whenever I did a booking or a mock booking on the Royal Caribbean Website, I got the chance to enter my C&A number, the fact that I'm getting old, what State I live in all in an attempt to qualify for some sort of discount. Today, I'm not being given that option. Is this a real change, or is it one of all too frequent website glitches? Thanks, Tom

    Royal Caribbean

I am thinking of booking a cruise "Holy Lands" with my son who will be 15 next year. It leaves from Civitavecchia (Rome) with stops at Alexandria, Egypt; Ashdod, Israel; Haifa, Israel; Ephesus, Turkey; Athens, Greece; Crete, Greece; and back to Rome. Its on Mariner of the Seas. Has anyone been on this cruise and tips or suggestions? Any help would be appreciated as I have never been on a cruise before and am a bit dubious as I have heard conflicting reports.
  7. Hi all! New to RCI and I have searched and searched and I cannot find out how to pre book shows. Cruise is 90 days out. When and how do I do this? Thanks!
  8. As was mentioned in the Casino Program Changes thread, some of us are not receiving promotional offers from Club Royale, and in that thread, those who had received offers were sharing the offer details with the rest of us so that we could find out whether we qualified for them as well. I don't receive promotional emails from Royal Caribbean for some reason, but I do receive USPS mailings, so I found out about this offer.

    CD on Harmony

Does anyone know who the CD is on the Harmony at the end of Jan 2019
  10. I'll start off by saying I'm not an employee of Royal Caribbean, don't have any relatives who work for Royal Caribbean or anything like that. I just wanted to start this thread to get a feel for what others think of the food quality on Royal Caribbean. I've been cruising for 10 years - predominantly with Royal Caribbean but have also tried some other cruise lines as well. Over the last couple of years it seems to me that the food quality in the main dining room (not the specialty restaurants) - variety, quality of food itself - has decreased on Royal Caribbean. People who I've talked to onboard seem to feel the same way - new cruisers, cruisers who have cruised other cruise lines and loyal Royal Caribbean cruisers. Do others find this as well? How does the quality of food compare to say Princess these days? Be interested to hear people's thoughts on this.
  11. What are your thoughts (positive and negative) about the RCI credit card? I know the perks aren't terrific but I do love "freebies"!
  12. I was out with some friends this weekend. One of the women that has been on 22 cruises with NCL said that she thought that Royal Caribbean was the McDonalds of cruise lines. I have to say I was kind of hurt by this. Don't really agree with this either. I thought for the most part NCL was similar to slightly above RCI. Am I wrong on this?
  13. When Royal have it's drink packages included in the offers on it's website is there no way of getting a price without this as we aren't massive drinkers and the prices seem to have increased by a considerable bit since we last looked.
  14. We are buying drink packages for our guests cruising with us. Is there any difference in the Deluxe package on board than getting beforehand through the cruise planner?

    Royal Caribbean Overnight Havana Cruise

Hello! We are going to be in Havana on November 22nd until 1pm on November 23rd. We have a full day or tours booked on the 22nd, but not finding any short tours to do on the 23rd. Are we able to get off the ship that morning and just walk around on our own or do we need to have a tour booked? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
  16. The last cruise I booked was before nonrefundable deposits so I'm trying to understand it all. I'm interested in booking a 4 night cruise for 3 people and the deposit is $300. If I want to make it a refundable deposit, it will cost me $296.18 and I will lose $25 OBC. If I do nonrefundable, I save $321 but if I cancel, I lose the entire $300. To me, it's almost a wash that I am leaning towards the nonrefundable fare and take my chances. Am I missing something and should do the refundable deposit? I plan on getting travel insurance.
  17. i just got back from a wonderful week aboard the Harmony. There aren’t enough words to say how wonderful it was. We were in 14305 and it was great with a good view of the boardwalk and the ocean. The steward is very good. The restaurants were above the best but I’m a Jamie’s Italian fanatic. Wonderland was an experience every should enjoy but you have to be open minded and be ready to have some awesome food. I would’ve loved to go to all the restaurants but not this time but the Windjammer had really good food. This was my first time on the big ships and I’m a convert! Don’t miss seeing Fine Line!
  18. Our first ever cruise was in 2015 on Serenade of the Seas out of NOLA. When RCI left NOLA that spring, we started sailing Carnival. After 3 Carnival cruises (and one coming up), we decided we'd like to see what one of RCI's mega ships is like. We're now booked on the Allure OTS for February 2020. Pretty far away, time wise, but I was hoping to get some preliminary online paperwork done. But, I don't seem to be able to do anything yet. Do you have to be within a certain number of days of sailing before you can do paperwork or schedule activities? Sent from my SM-S907VL using Forums mobile app
  19. I am due next April to go on a 5 night cruise from Miami with Royal Caribbean, after the final night I will have reached Diamond level in the Crown and Anchor society.I get off the Ship on the Friday morning. The following day, Saturday I am getting on a Celebrity Cruise, also from Miami, will I get the Elite tier of benefits ?
  20. Going through RCI website entertainment section I don't see ISkate listed, but it is referred to elsewhere (below) It sounds pretty unstructured....(like choreography is a bad thing?). Worth attending?? BLADES OF GLORY Watch our skaters let it all out in iSkate, a rule-breaking, no holds barred show that throws choreography out the window and lets them freestyle jump, stunt and thrill their hearts out to hit jams.
  21. We're fairly used to Cunard, although we've also cruised on HAL a couple of times in the past year or so. We sailed once on Carnival and that was enough. A group on another (non-cruise) forum has been enjoying an annual cruise and for 2019 they're sailing to the ABCs out of San Juan on RCI's Freedom of the Seas. We've put down a deposit on an ocean-view balcony cabin for the trip. As one who enjoys all things Cunard (and especially QM2), what am I in for?
  22. Hi All, I’m planning to go on a cruise early next year, most probably on Ovation of the Seas embarking from Sydney. However due to jet lag I’ll probably be awake for much of the night. Is there much to do at night on Ovation? Is everything closed? A related question: Is there any place on Ovation dark enough to see the stars at night or is there too much light pollution? I'd also welcome responses on any other Royal Caribbean ships which may give me an idea. Thanks
  23. Trying to figure out placement for JS. Does the ship normally dock port or starboard? I like looking at the port and city we arrive. Looking at either 12230 or 12630 or ?? Deck 12 or Deck 14?
  24. Good afternoon, Has anyone tried to place a courtesy hold on a new booking? I looked and looked but could not find a link. It was a really great price on a holiday sailing but wanted to discuss with DW prior to making a decision. And of course the price has increased by $100 pp already. Does anyone know how it is done now for future reference? John
  25. The November 5th Jewel of the Seas Transatlantic cruise has had 3 ports cancelled and replaced with the Canary Islands. The November 5th Navigator of the Seas Transatlantic has had 3 ports cancelled and replaced with the Canary Islands. Same issue, weather related. Understandable. So what’s discriminating about that? The discrimination is in the fact that Royal is giving the Navigator passengers OBC of $100-300 per cabin plus a future cruise credit for 25% of the cruise fare value per person on a future cruise. Royal isn’t offering Jewel passengers any competition! As as a passenger on Jewel it seems ridiculous and short-sighted of Royal Caribbean to offer some passengers compensation and not others. We were both impacted by the exact same storm and extreme itinerary changes to both cruises. Having been a very loyal Royal cruiser in the past it makes me question if I want to continue cruising with them when there are so many other choices available!!!
