  1. It is a Stephen Card painting of the Veendam arriving in Bermuda and it has been in the Veendam's Crow Nest near the bar on port size. Sadly, corporate seems to have changed from decorating the new ships with such art. Koningsdam has some, but N. Statendam has none. The new Rotterdam, as flagship, should have plenty, IMHO.
  2. Veendam - and the sculpture was/is called “Jacobs Ladder”
  3. Correct, the Veendam was in town during the voyage of the vikings..
  4. This is Captain Card's painting of the Veendam IV which just left HAL. Bit of a different style than the "pink house" Veendam pic
  5. Then so you think it is a Stephen Card painting that was on display on the Veendam in 2014?
  6. Maybe. If the painting was on the Veendam at that time I suppose it could be a photo of the painting.. It’s been 6 years since we took this cruise and the photo is in our photo stream between those photos I posted later. We took a land and sea excursion that day so I thought it could have been taken then. Interesting!
  7. I am looking for the Veendam, Maasdam, And Amsterdam for in my collections. Due that this ships are sold, I cannot buy these online anymore. I am Netherlands based, so anyone in this region who are selling these ships?
  8. Repeat on #697. Too easy? Did I miss the correct response? Which port is the Veendam visiting?
  9. I've been busy and missed a a day here. As for Ocho Rios, we were there on the Veendam in 2018 on a Cuba Adventure cruise. It was my first time back since the 1990's. We had the cargo dock while MSC Seaside had the main dock. We were first in, so found a low price taxi van before Seasides throngs got there.
  10. It was a number of years ago. HAL Veendam. The issues were long since fixed. On a subsequent cruise we met a gentleman who had been on that ship twice in six months. He was a very loyal cruise line customer. He confirmed the issues, going so far as to say that he discovered that the crew referred to the area in which his cabin was located as the 'flood zone'.
  11. I noticed a hopeful sign that my refund is underway. The cancelled March Veendam cruise does not appear under current bookings. It was paid with FCC. This amount appears under my FCC as a negative number. The August Rotterdam cruise that had some FCC applied still appears under current bookings. That small amount of money appears on my FCC as available.
  12. Does anyone still receive e-mails, or for that matter, any other form of communication from Holland America Line since the Covid-19 Lockdown? We have not heard from them since having to cancel our "14 Night British Isles Explorer", set to depart from Amsterdam on July 11, 2020, aboard the Veendam. That last communication from them was May 20th, and was in the form of an e-mail to us stating that they had received our refund request and that we should receive the refund soon. By the way, we did receive the full amount of our deposit soon thereafter. My wife and I have cruised on Holland America Line since 2007, our favorite cruise line and have been most loyal to the brand. As Four Star Mariners with Holland America Line ... almost 250 total actual cruise/sea days ... last cruise being our 16th, the "17-Day Holiday Panama Canal", last December aboard the MS Amsterdam. We had been planning, pre Covid-19 lockdown, at least one other cruise for this calendar year. We still look forward to returning to cruising when it is possible and relatively safe. Curious if any other HAL cruisers/Mariners ... particularly older cruisers like ourselves (both over 70 years old) ... have had a similar experience with receiving NO communication. Seems as if they either no longer exist (not the case of course) or that they are no longer interested in our future business for cruises with them. I can only wonder! We do receive communication from many other entities, including from airlines, hotels, and even other cruise lines. Thanks for any insight or information. Pisces Man
  13. And in '18. We've been there twice; once by car (all the way from Chicago) and the other time on the VOV in 2014 on the Veendam. Here's my picture from Saddle Island.
  14. Where is Veendam at? and No, she's not turning into a submarine 😉 Clue: this is a Voyage of the Vikings port and it's not always accessible due to what you are seeing in the pic and/or other weather related conditions. Yet another clue because it's Sunday and I feel generous; this country's national parks are bigger than most countries, and the area where this pic was taken has its own time zone and has a breed of dog named after it ....................want any more?
  15. thank you @Seacruise & @mtnesterz for the HAL updates!! Some dust settled FAST imho this will calm down for a while now. Sold (not transferred within CCL): Costa Atlantica -> CSSC Carnival Cruise Shipping (JV 60% Chinese stockholders / 40% CCL) Costa Mediterranea -> CSSC Carnival Cruise Shipping Costa neoRomantica -> Celestyal Cruises Experience HAL Amsterdam -> Fred Olsen Bolette HAL Rotterdam -> Fred Olsen Borealis HAL Maasdam -> Seajets Aegan Myths HAL Veendam -> Seajets Aegean Majesty P&O Oceana -> Seajets Queen of the Oceans Sun Princess > Pacific World Peace Ships Scrapped: Costa Victoria Carnival Fantasy Carnival Inspiration Carnival Fascination Carnival Imagination Announced but buyer unknown: POAU Pacific Aria -> POAU Pacific Dawn -> Sea Princess > WHO'S #18??
  16. CSSC is looking for another? Which ship is smallest / least profitable? Or would they buy a new one (Majestic is not a medallion vessel)
  17. Ombud, not my intention to correct, but to assist to complete your list. Thank you for your work. I follow these developments with interest. Crew Center reports that the Maasdam and Veendam have also been purchased by Seajets in addition to the Oceana. Celestyal, Fred Olsen and Seajets are not part of Carnival Corp, but with then, I lose track as to whether transfers within Carnival count as part of the 18. The 18th? P&O Aus. as the red-headed stepchild of the Carnival group, gets the hand-me-downs. Pure speculation, something will transfer to them and the Pacific Explorer, a Sun class, will go. We too have been left uncertain by the Sun's sale.
  18. Well 17 are gone. 5 to scrap with 4 already being dismantled, 12 to other lines. Several have already listed them as available for bookings. Gone not transferred within CCL: Costa Atlantica -> CSSC Carnival Cruise Shipping (60% Chinese stockholders) Costa Mediterranea -> CSSC Carnival Cruise Shipping (60% Chinese stockholders) Costa neoRomantica -> Celestyal Cruises - renamed Experience HAL Amsterdam -> Fred Olsen - renamed Bolette HAL Rotterdam -> Fred Olsen - renamed Borealis P&O Oceana -> now Queen of the Oceans for Seajets Sun Princess > Peace ships to replace Ocean Dream & The Zenith Scrapped: Costa Victoria Carnival Fantasy Carnival Inspiration Carnival Fascination Carnival Imagination Announced but buyer unknown: HAL Maasdam -> buyer unannounced HAL Veendam -> buyer unannounced P&O Aus Pacific Aria -> P&O Aus Pacific Dawn -> Sea Princess > WHO'S #18??
  19. We had so much fun on some of these ships (Sun Princess, HAL Veendam, the Regal Princess sister ship, Crown). Great cruising memories....same for Celebrity Mercury & Zenith and RCCL Monarch (our first cruise). Would happily go back to those days of cruising.
  20. Thank you. I was thinking that when our Veendam and Rotterdam cruises disappeared our refunds would soon appear. Sadly they still appear on our accounts.
