  1. With the loss of the Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Maasdam & Veendam, I have removed all sailings on the future cruise listing for anyone sailing on the 4 sold ships. (Hopefully I didn’t miss anything 🙏🏻). It’s entirely possible that HAL might transfer some of these sailings to other ships that are remaining in the fleet. If that is the case for you, please repost your cruise details on the Future Cruise Listing just as you did originally. Here is the link for this week’s listing - Thank you 🙂
  2. Punta Delgata, Azores. We were there on the Veendam on August 29,2019.
  3. On the HAL board there is talk that Veendam is one of the ships which might /could be leaving. If she is, wonder which ship will replace her? We live in interesting times.
  4. Just checking Marine Traffic and it shows both Maasdam and Veendam heading to the Suez Canal. Currently Maasdam is doing 8.8 kn and Veendam is 11.9kn. Any idea where they are heading too?
  5. Veendam, Debbie Reynolds?
  6. Vitoria, Brazil? Veendam was unable to stop there in 2017 due to civil unrest. We went to Buzios instead which was enjoyable.
  7. The charters and group sailings organisations have been slowly updating their plans, so the information listed here may change over the coming months. The information on the HAL website is sometimes contradictory to the information posted by charter organisations (i.e. some dates which are shown as charters on the organiser's website is still available to book on the HAL website). Also there are gaps in the itineraries for various ships (e.g. Veendam April 28th to May 8th 2021 which shows no cruises and I cannot find any charters!). Zaandam and Amsterdam have missed their dry docks which were scheduled to happen in April and May 2020 and as yet no updated scheduled dates are available. If you have information about groups charters or dry docks then please post here and I will update in the next file. 9. An update on progress. Yesterday I received a booking confirmation from HAL showing the removal of the FCD’s used to book the cancelled March Veendam. When logging in the only FCC’s are two FCD’s, one from before and the one from cancelled March cruise. The March booking remains as a booked cruise. I’m hoping that means a refund will soon appear on my credit card.
  10. Three more Veendam pics I have been looking for. The first is docked at Key West, Mallory Square. Notice the Crow's nest with a wrap around window which looked back along the open deck. All of the HAL ships since have rooms, cabanas, etc blocking the view astern. Second is the Veendam anchored on the Amazon River for Boca de Valeria, Brazil. The river was high, giving the illusion that the ship may have run aground. Third is the Stephen Card painting of the Veendam arriving in Bermuda, which was displayed in the Crow's Nest. Question: Were the Card paintings removed from the recently sold ships before sale hand over?
  11. Thank you for sharing the Volendam atrium. Definitely different than Maasdam's and Veendam's. Very colorful.
  12. Winner! 🙂 Yes, Maasdam's "Totem," Veendam's "Jacob's Staircase," and Volendam's "Caleido" were all designed by Italian glass artist Luciano Vistosi
  13. No change in the Town Cut channel - not allowed due to environmental purposes. Originally it was thought Veendam would make it by its weight in tonnes, but when the whole set of specs was given it was discovered that the ship was too big for the Town Cut.
  14. Welcome to the HAL board and that looks like the pier at Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Patagonia, Argentina. Those tan uniforms and orange day-glo vests in the distance look familiar 😉 plus Veendam is flying the Argentinian national colors from her starboard side main mast
  15. Hi, we are not HAL cruisers but NCL cruisers. I love this thread and I hope you don't mind me butting in and giving a contribution: Veendam: (sorry but I had to blacken out the date in the corner - it would give it away)
  16. Does anyone still receive e-mails, or for that matter, any other form of communication from Holland America Line since the Covid-19 Lockdown? We have not heard from them since having to cancel our "14 Night British Isles Explorer", set to depart from Amsterdam on July 11, 2020, aboard the Veendam. That last communication from them was May 20th, and was in the form of an e-mail to us stating that they had received our refund request and that we should receive the refund soon. By the way, we did receive the full amount of our deposit soon thereafter. My wife and I have cruised on Holland America Line since 2007, our favorite cruise line and have been most loyal to the brand. As Four Star Mariners with Holland America Line ... almost 250 total actual cruise/sea days ... last cruise being our 16th, the "17-Day Holiday Panama Canal", last December aboard the MS Amsterdam. We had been planning, pre Covid-19 lockdown, at least one other cruise for this calendar year. We still look forward to returning to cruising when it is possible and relatively safe. Curious if any other HAL cruisers/Mariners ... particularly older cruisers like ourselves (both over 70 years old) ... have had a similar experience with receiving NO communication. Seems as if they either no longer exist (not the case of course) or that they are no longer interested in our future business for cruises with them. I can only wonder! We do receive communication from many other entities, including from airlines, hotels, and even other cruise lines. Thanks for any insight or information. Pisces Man
  17. Happy email today. Received all our FCC and $$ for the cancelled Veendam cruise in January. Doing the happy dance as we've booked the Eurodam for March/April.
  18. I am looking for the Veendam, Maasdam, And Amsterdam for in my collections. Due that this ships are sold, I cannot buy these online anymore. I am Netherlands based, so anyone in this region who are selling these ships?
  19. Veendam - and the sculpture was/is called “Jacobs Ladder”
  20. Our "last cruise" was Feb 5-19, 2020 on the Veendam, 2 week B2B. We went with good friends we had met on Veendam June 2013 & vacationed with several times a year since. We also were on that "last cruise" with our dear neighbors, who have cruised with us for at least 11 cruises on HA, Princess, Celebrity, Royal & Viking. This group of people planned & booked to go on Veendam again the last week of Jan 2021, but before V was sold, we all decided the cruise atmosphere probably would not be to our liking, so we cancelled. Instead we are going to rent a large home beachside in FL for that week, where we can congregate as we want (happy hours all day & no masks!!).....
  21. Correct, the Veendam was in town during the voyage of the vikings..
  22. Then so you think it is a Stephen Card painting that was on display on the Veendam in 2014?
