  1. Are there still irons and ironing boards in the self serve laundry rooms on the Volendam?
  2. Volendam will be at the CT dock from 1300-2200. Also in port is Coral Princess at the FKL dock from 1200-2200. Although Thursday was a fairly nice day in Juneau, Friday is not forecast to be as nice. The high will be 55F/ 13C and the low 41F/5C with a 60% chance of rain with occasional showers in the afternoon. Sunrise is at 4:42 am and sunset at 9:08 pm. The PTZtv webcam can be found at https://www.juneauharborwebcam.com/. Next up: the Signature sisters on Monday.
  3. Hello, I'm new to HAL and planning an Inside Passage cruise out of Vancouver on the Volendam in Aug 2020. Debating whether to select a cabin upfront or take our chances and let HAL choose. Is it likely we will get least desirable (noisy, etc.) cabin if we let HAL choose ? Would you spend an extra $300pp to sail in June/July (rather than 3rd week of August) or use it to guarantee a cabin mid-ship which seems to be the most desirable? Also has anyone experienced seasickness on this particular route ? I've been sick on deep sea fishing boats and on a sailboat boat on Lake Michigan in choppy waters but not a cruise (have been on 3). I've read that motion sickness isn't so much an issue on the IP cruises out of Vancouver Thanks in advance for your help.
  4. I’m a first time (solo) cruiser looking at booking a Canada and Alaska cruise extension for Sept. 2020. So far, the possibilities I’ve come up with are two, similar travel Calgary to Vancouver and (I think) the same ports of call in Alaska. The difference is either sailing on Volendam or Nieuw Amsterdam. I’d appreciate advice from seasoned HAL cruisers as to what the main differences might be and any recommendations. tia Graham
  5. Another ship leaves Fort Lauderdale for the season with the departure of Volendam. She will be at pier 26 (port to) from 0530-1600. She is headed out on a 17-day cruise to San Francisco (or 20 days to Vancouver) in preparation for her Alaska season. Cruise Itinerary: Cartagena, Colombia (21 Apr 0700-1300); Panama Canal (Cruising Canal) (22 Apr 0500-0500); Puerto Caldera, Costa Rica (24 Apr 0800-1800); Corinto, Nicaragua (25 Apr 1000-1700); Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala (26 Apr 0800-1800); Puerto Chiapas, Mexico (27 Apr 0800-1700); Huatulco, Mexico (28 Apr 0800-1700); Manzanillo, Mexico (30 Apr 0800-1700); Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (01 May 0800-1500); Cabo San Lucas, Mexico (02 May 0800-1700); San Francisco, California (05 May a0800) Also in port are Celebrity Infinity at pier 19 from 0545-1600, Majesty OTS at pier 18 from 0615-1600, and Pearl Mist at pier 21 arriving at 0900 and overnighting in FLL. The PTZtv webcams can be found at https://www.portevergladeswebcam.com/ and https://www.ftlauderdalewebcam.com/. Next up: Zuiderdam and Nieuw Statendam on Sunday, 21 April.
  6. Can anyone advise if the MS Volendam features a steam room or sauna in the mens locker or changing rooms? Most ships now feature the co-ed thermal spas and sanctuaries that charge an admission instead of offering them as a free amenity like on older ships. We both enjoy these and I was wondering if anyone happens to know for sure as nothing shows up on the deck plans on HAL.com. Thanks in advance and happy cruising everyone!
  7. We've now been on 2 HAL cruises, and have loved every moment.Looking at a Panama Canal Cruise at Christmastime next year. Any thoughts? We've never done a holiday cruise,so we thought this would be fun!
  8. We received a call from our travel agent today and were offered an ocean view cabin upgrade from our inside cabin for $149 per person. We accepted.
  9. Anybody have pictures of of this or similar large inside cabin. Will it be quiet...it is on Deck 2-Main level. Thanks alot.
