  1. Hi all! I just wanted to ask for some opinions on whether or not Promenade "windows" are worth the extra $$. I've stayed in interior and balcony staterooms before but have never been on a promenade view room. I personally felt like the balcony was wasted on me because I barely spent any time in it and it didn't help with motion sickness at all so it's not worth the upgrade in my case. Now I'm wondering which of the non-balcony staterooms is right for me. I'm specifically looking at interior vs promenade view. Other than the room feeling slightly bigger, does the window offer any other benefits? Can you enjoy the parades at the Promenade from the room? Is there a way to open the window to let some "fresh" air in? I dismissed OV and those virtual balcony ones because I feel like it would make the motion sickness worse, but I'd love to hear your experiences. I've also considered just booking a guarantee inside room and hoping it's low and midship but don't know how likely that would be.
  2. Before they changed Wonder, it looked like it was going to be Spectrum because that was the only ship with no deployment when Singapore was the only port. Now, who knows though... though would be really nice to get a new ship that isn't Quantum or Voyager.
  3. Nope. Voyager is in the Baltics. Spectrum would be several months in for HK sailings. Doesn't seem likely also.
  4. I've been reading where she's a bit older and maybe not as good of shape as other ships. Should I have booked a different ship? I'm sailing out of Boston for the New England/Canada cruise. Myself and two friends are going. We each booked our own cabin as we all have different sleep patterns and would just annoy the you know what out of each other.
  5. We play the suite guaranty game a lot on Anthem. We usually get a JS but lucked out once with a 2 bedroom grand suite. We don't mind any of the JS locations on that class of ship, so we roll the dice. I wouldn't do that on Voyager class or Freedom class because I don't want one of those center aft JS on a lower deck behind that big space.
  6. <Gasp> and on Freedom, Voyager and Vision class ships, Junior Suites can't get into Coastal Kitchen at all! It's a travesty!
  7. I was told that by some RC officers on voyager and ovation. I think the plan was before Covid to have a oasis in the Australian season when the private island in vanuatu was finished. But the world has turned to syet.
  8. So I'm thinking about the stripper pole room on voyager/freedom class.... the old diamond lounge room on serenade, that wrap around aft balcony on vision. Are there any "unique" cabins different from the others on the Oasis class ships?
  9. Show reservations were only available on Q and O class pre pandemic. The ice shows on Voyager and Freedom class were limited in various ways.
  10. Spectrum has just met up with Voyager in Hong Kong. Some crew transferred from Voyager to Spectrum, for her restart in October.:)
  11. I have stayed in a Promenade view on Voyager. I have never tried a true "inside" cabin myself, but I have been inside them with friends for a few minutes. The Promenade View rooms are closer in size to Ocean View rooms (with the window) than to an inside cabin. For that extra space alone, let alone the bay window giving additional psychological effect of space, I personally think it is worth it. In other words, the Promenade view rooms not only feel larger than regular inside cabins, they actually are larger.
  12. I have stayed in an inside cabin and never wanted to go back to one regardless of the price. I have been in Promenade Rooms on Voyager and Explorer and loved them. I loved being able to look out of the window rather than 4 walls. I always chose a promenade room at the highest level and about the middle of the deck, but have stayed over where coffee is available and I didn't hear too much noise. When there were shows on, you would probably enjoy looking down on them and yes they were loud but they ended before midnight and were usually only one a week. It was good during the daytime looking down on the goings on in the Promenade deck. I was always careful to close the curtain when dressing. I always left the net curtain closed as well for privacy but loved looking out.
  13. Most of the voyager and freedom class, sometimes concierge will have them, just ask, we always would bring a few of our favorite dvds .
  14. Cruise a holic--I agree, we prefer the Oasis class ships as well, DH doesn't want to look at the others, at least for now except for a special itinerary. Never say never. We're booked on Harmony in May to take 8 family members, then Voyager in July for a Baltic cruise departing Stockholm, then finishing in Copenhagen. Our May 2020 Baltic cruise was cancelled, so we loved the idea that we can spend a couple of days pre cruise and post cruise to get a taste of those 2 cities. Still a pretty big ship for a port intensive cruise. Without a doubt, the location of the crown loft beats the 1 bed room aqua suite hands down(It's a long walk from aft to the forward part of the ship. DH was a little concerned about stairs in the crown loft so was happy for the change. We loved the extended living/dining area in the ATS. Barb
  15. See if any VP's available. We are on Voyager in August for that trip. Awesome suite, generally well priced.
  16. It was on the radio that the getting ship has started in Hong Kong and maybe the American ship may not start. Does anyone know about spectrum? Voyager has gone back to Singapore I believe. Do you think Wonder will have problems with China because it’s a American ship and the current tensions?
  17. I am looking at the Voyager in the Baltic 1May22. Balconies are about $600 and JS's are about $1200. I suspect that there will be left over suites due to covid, eu entry, and the early time of the year. If we want to end up in a GS thru the bidding process, is it better to book the Balcony to 'free up' the extra $600 in bidding power? ...or start with the JS?

  23. Well, as usual with the information given by customer service reps at all lines, some is correct, and some is not. The correct part is that a ship sailing in Europe, and I don't know how Brexit changed this for the UK, sails under the EU's ShipSan program, and they do not require separate recreational water facilities for those not toilet trained. The incorrect parts. While, for most ships the water supply and filtration system is the same for all recreational water facilities, on ships sailing to/from the US, only toilet trained people are allowed in "regular" water facilities, and swim diapers are not allowed. Those ships require an "infant only recreational water facility", which not only has a separate water supply, it has a higher "turn over" (filtration rate), and a UV sterilizer in addition to the normal chlorination. Anthem's baby splash pool meets these requirements, as do all of RCI's Oasis, Quantum, and Freedom class ships, and one or two Voyager class. All Disney cruise ships also have splash areas for non-potty trained kids. The second part that is incorrect is that banning her from the pool in a US based cruise would be against US law (I can't speak for UK law). The SCOTUS (Supreme Court of the US) has ruled that the US ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), does not apply in all measures onboard foreign flag cruise ships. This was a ruling in Spector v NCL, and the justices ruled that missing an explicit mention of foreign flag cruise vessels in the act (and there is none, even after 15 years since this ruling), that the ship's "internal policies and procedures" are not subject to the ADA, and that there are other laws that trump the ADA on ships. The fact that the ship needs to meet CDC requirements (no swim diapers in the pools) in order to obtain "free pratique" (health clearance) to enter US waters, trumps the ADA. The policy is also internal to the ship, and therefore not subject to the ADA. I'm glad your daughter was able to swim on your cruise, I am just pointing out that this will not be a universal situation, and that the information you were given is incorrect, should you try to use it to justify her inclusion on another occasion. I don't want you or her to be disappointed. I have worked for NCL, and been the point man for transitioning a foreign flag ship (where the ADA does not fully apply) to a US flag ship (where the ADA does fully apply), so I have been down this route before.
  24. I've only ever seen JR open for breakfast on Oasis class ships, not Voyager or Freedom class.
