  1. Some of you might have noticed that, this week, Seabourn cancelled its Asian cruises through the 2022 Spring season. HAL and Seabourn work together on many issues and are tightly aligned. So this begs the question what will HAL do with Noordam and when will they do it? The Noordam is scheduled to begin Asian cruise itineraries on Dec 6, 2021, with cruises from Singapore. In February the vessel is scheduled to move to the Japan market with its first Japan port being Nagasaki (Feb 12) finally disembarking/embarking folks at Yokohama on Feb 14. The ship then does mostly Japan itineraries int
  2. It is some years since I have been on the Noordam and she had a re-fit in I think 2018. We prefer a quieter type of cruise and hope she does not now have an outdoor movie. Can anyone help?
  3. Does anyone know if there is a crap table on Noordam? Are cruising (hopefully) on Oct. 11, Tokyo/Tokyo.
  4. Looking at cruises just released for 2022 and trying to decide between the two ships. We have been on the Nieuw Amsterdam for 3 nights during an Alaska/Yukon tour and we really liked her. We have never been on the Noordam. We are looking at either Signature or Neptune suites. I am just interested in people’s opinions and I know we all have differing ones 😃 Thanks
  5. Why is the Noordam in Limassol Cyprus at this time ? Her next sailings are in the far east.
  6. Which ship is better to do an Alaskan cruise/ And has anyone done the 18 day land/cruise on Holland America? How was is?
  7. Hello, could not find a roll call yet for this cruise, so I (think) I am creating this. (hopefully correctly, please feel free to delete if it does not do what I think it should) We are actually booked on the 14 Nt Cruise Tour (Double Denali) ending in Fairbanks. Cruise portion is leaving Vancouver on June 13 (God willing). Hope to find some like-minded people here to join this Roll Call 🙂
  8. Am considering this cruise in late September and would just like to know a little about the itinerary, how the seas were, and a general review from folks that have made this journey or a similar one. Thanks for any info provided. Dave 🦝
  9. Marella Cruises announced today that it plans to retire the 1984-built Celebration, aka Noordam. The ship was built in 1984 by Chantiers de l'Atlantique for Holland America Line and sailed under its brand through 2005, when she was moved to Thomson Cruises, which eventually became Marella. I am sure many of us have fond memories of sailing on her and her sister ship, Nieuw Amsterdam. Another classic liner gone but not forgotten.
  10. We are looking at booking an Alaskan 14 day cruise tour for June/July 2021. They have the same itinerary. Which ship would you choose? Thank you for your input!
  11. I'm on 16 April noordam sailing it's supposed to stop isle of pines pago pago both these ports are shut hal tells me in a generic way we will stop there Noordam is stuck in nz Vancouver ultimate destination is shut As sailing is 2 days after resumption out do i play waiting game or just cancel I'm not to keen on spending 16 days straight at sea
  12. Does anyone know where she is. Latest update on vesselfinder is march 24.
  13. We have just returned from the Noordam 14 night (4-18 January 2020) cruise around New Zealand. Our children attended Club HAL (7-12 years) and The Loft (13-17 years). This cruise took place during the Australian / NZ school holidays and, prior to travelling, I struggled to find information about cruising HAL with children (particularly in the Southern hemisphere). We had a wonderful time and I wanted to share information that might help others. I have posted a blog that includes many photos of the Club HAL and Loft daily program guides, as well as many of the When and Wheres and menus. Ho
  14. We will be sailing on the Noordam to Alaska in May 2020 and were very excited that the ship went into drydock in fall 2019. There have been conflicting reports re how much was done in the staterooms. Apparently suites got a pretty comprehensive refit, but has anyone stayed in a Veranda VA cabin after the drydock? Wondering if bed linens and drapes are as shown on HAL website or still the older (orange/reddish) ones. This will be our first trip on HAL and we are really looking forward to it.
  15. Seached every review and couldn't find for these rooms. Does anyone know if they have plexiglass wall on the balcony? Also, do they all have a small TV by the desk as opposed to across from the bed (we've only been on the Eurodam and it's big flatscreen is across from the bed). Any pictures of these rooms? Taking a cruise from Seward to BC in late June. Thanks.
  16. Does anyone who has recently sailed on Noordam know haw many Gala nights there are? i looked under "Know before you go" but was unable to locate the answer>
  17. Just wondering if anyone knew if the Noordam will be going to dry dock on September 29th as previously scheduled or has it been rescheduled again. Also does anyone know what will be done to her? Our family is sailing on her next year so we are curious. Thanks!
  18. We are about to take our first HAL cruise in November, and I'm still trying to sort through some of the choices/options that may (or may not?) be available to us. We'll be on the Noordam in a Neptune Suite, and I'm trying to figure out if Club Orange overlaps with perks/etc., that we'd already have with Neptune Suite, inclluding what is available in teh Suite Lounge. I guess the first question is whether the Noordam even has "Club Orange"? Things that would matter to us include soft drinks (Diet Coke - but not "soda fountain" dispensed); bottles of San Pellegrino s
  19. As promised, I am starting a thread about the current ship I am on. In this case it is Noordam, fresh out of dry dock for the last two weeks. First impressions are good. Embarkation: I arrived at Canada Place a little after 10:30. Luggage drop off was fine, but it was a bit of a hike to the elevator to get to the cruise ship level. Once on the cruise ship level we got in the line that would eventually take us to the waiting area to board. Although the line was long it kept moving and I was sitting in the waiting area to board about 11:15. Boarding started about 11:30 with an ann
  20. We will be on the Noordam 12/7/19 cruise from Sydney to N.Z. I have been reading very negative reviews about the Noordam...saying she is very dingy and service is horrible. We were told that the Noordam is due for a 2-week drydock refit in September. Does anyone know what they can do to update the ship in just 2 weeks?
  21. We have booked Neptune Suite 6175 on the Noordam for an Alaskan cruise in May 2020. My mother is handicapped so it is nice that we were able to book an accessible cabin. There is very little information available about how this suite is set up. If possible could someone please post pictures or video of the suite's layout? Thanks!
  22. Hi all! You helpful Cruise Critic members helped me decide on an Alaska cruise and currently HAL best suit our timing and itinerary. I thought I was ready to book on the Koningsdam then noticed that there was an identical itinerary for Noordam that departs a day later. I understand the Koningsdam is a larger and newer ship, although the larger entry level suite size and cheaper cost are tempting me on the Noordam. I'd really value any opinions on people who have travelled on one or both of these ships and would care to share their thoughts.
  23. Hi All, My wife and I are looking at taking the Noordam, May 2020 to Alaska. We have a courtesy hold good thru 11/14 on cabin E1120, which we now know is under the galley and not recommended by posters here. We already have an Alaska trip booked with RCCL for that month which we can still cancel. We want an unobstructed ocean view room and it looks like those are only on the Main Deck, 1. We don’t see any on that deck that look ideal given the promenade is above you. That leaves moving up to a Veranda room, which we could do, but we were trying to avoid that.
  24. Does anyone know i!f there are power outlets over the nightstands on the Noordam? Last trip we needed an extension cord for a cpap. Thanks
  25. I was wondering if anyone had been aboard Noordam since her 2 we refit of suites and cabins which took place the first 2 weeks of October 2019. If so, would you please post any pictures you may have and your thoughts?
