    Noordam Greenhouse Spa

Hi there, Anyone on the current Noordam cruise? What price are the charging for the Greenhouse Spa Retreat Pass? We really want to do it when we sail on the 22nd! Thanks Ash
  2. Hello everyone We are on the Noordam leaving Sydney 14 January 2019. We are arriving in Noumea on 25 January, does anyone know which cruise terminal it will dock. I know there are two, previously on RCI and Celebrity we have docked around by the port terminal and had a shuttle to town. Does anyone know if it docks in town. Also, anyone catch a taxi near the cruise terminal. Many thanks.
  3. We are currently on the Noordam for 29 days. Food at the MDR and Pinnacle grill have been excellent as well as the service. Outside of ship is well maintained. Common areas look like they have been refreshed recently. All are nicely done. As usual cabin stewards are excellent. Our Cabin is another story. Small table in room is cracked and faded. Balcony furniture is fraying badly. Cushions for balcony furniture are faded and covered with white paint. Glass on balcony is filthy. Edge of balcony is rusting badly. This is our 18th cruise on Hal , have never complained once, but will send them comments on this.
  4. Had a choice between flying to Rome to cruise Nieuw Statendam in Rome on 12/05 or fly to Australia on the Noordam. It was quite a toss up with DW, but decided to head, down under for a nice 15 day cruise, which will be the longest cruise we will be experiencing. We have done several HAL cruises, will be one cruise short of getting our 3 star Mainer status. Of course, just a rookie by most cruisers standards. Flying from PNW to San Francisco, then a long 15 hour journey to Sydney. It will be DW and our youngest daughter, who also has racked up some HAL cruises. Will be staying in a VC stateroom, though DW has been spoiled in the Suites, especially the Neptune. In sure we will be spoiled as usual by the HAL staff. Haven't had a bad cruise on HAL, and don't expect this one to be different. We will be doing the 07 Dec 15 day Sydney roundtrip, was hoping if there was any tips on excusions to any of those islands.
  5. Will be sailing on the Noordam on Nov 8 from Auckland. When I search for images of the balcony cabins, most pics show old cabins with a dusty rose worn couch. However, on the HAL website, they show a more updated look with beige and brown tones. What should I expect in about 10 days.

    Noordam upgrade

I read somewhere that Noordam was to receive an upgrade in 2018. Did it happen? If so, what was done? Thank you.:*

    Condition of Noordam

We have sailed on HAL only once, on Oosterdam, just as it came out of dry dock in May 2016 to Alaska, SA Suite. I just came across what seems to be a very good itinerary for 8 days to Alaska from Vancouver, round trip, on Noordam. I started reading about the ship and found many comments about it being in need of upgrades, but planed refurbishment is being postponed. In fact, it appears that the very cruise I am looking to book is a newly scheduled cruise in the time slot earlier designated for that refurbishment. To those who recently been on Noordam, what is your opinion of the ship vs Oosterdam. We sailed NCL Breakaway, Gem, Dawn; RCCL Alure, Explore, Grandure, Rapsody; Celebrity Equinox and similar ships. That said, we liked Oosterdam very much. Is Noordam a ship for us or would it be a great disappointment compared to other ships I have listed? As much as itinerary is important to us, the condition of the ship is just as important. Thank you all who will reply.

    Noordam Balcony Cabin

Hello all, Planning a Northern-bound Alaskan cruise on the Noordam for next summer. If you had to pick between an Aft, Port or Starboard balcony cabin, what would you recommend? I see there are a couple of aft cabins available on deck 8 and very little on the starboard side. Logic tells me that since I'm going north, I want to be on the starboard side so that I can see the coastline. What's everybody's opinion? Thanks, Darren
  9. Anyone out there sailing on this cruise? This will be our first Alaskan cruise. My wife and I are sailing on the Noordam with the added 14 day double Denali land tour. Hope to hear from others sailing on the Noordam on the 12th. Any hotel suggestions in Vancouver would be welcomed! Jim
  10. Am currently booked for an Alaskan cruise on the Noordam next June, staying in cabin 5073 on deck 5 and thinking of switching to inside on Observation Deck. The balcony cabin we are booked in now has the smaller balcony and the lifeboats sticking out directly below. I am second guessing myself that I will not like this set up. Are the balconies too small (we usually sail Carnival..would it be comparable to a regular Carnival balcony size?) Are the lifeboats jutting out below bothersome to your view or just plain enjoyment of the balcony? The insides on the observation deck would be very convenient to the Crow's Nest and just stepping outside onto the Observation Deck...also handy to Lido Deck (and we would save roughly $1580). There are 8 of these K category insides and none have been booked yet. Has anyone had one of these cabins? Wondering if there is something unfavorable about them since none are booked yet?
  11. getting ready to splurge on a Alaska cruise Y1L with Holland.... trying to decide on our cabin .... Should we do aft or midship? Have cruise from inside to balconies on previous cruises both on RCCL and HAL Always love being midship but heard if we could snag a aft on a Alaska trip we should do that I’m also thinking splurging to Neptune Suite... this is a special trip... just trying to balance things Help
  12. Hi We are considering booking on the Ms Noordam cruise to the South Pacific Islands on 14 January 2019, can someone please tell me if there is free male and female steam and sauna's onboard, as this will influence our decision? I have also been told that the ship is badly in need of a refurbishment, is this correct? Many thanks
  13. I am considering going on the Noordam in early July. I am readinr that it is very dated and shabby. Does anyany know if it will be refurbished anytime soon?

    Noordam VH category room

Hi everyone, Have been reading a lot on the boards and have gotten myself a bit worried! We booked a verandah room where Holland America chooses our room. So on our booking confirmation this is a VH room. My question is has anyone stayed in one? It’s our first time cruising and I’m worried that our views will be obstructed? Thanks 😀

    Photo Package on Noordam

I'll be on Noordam in a couple weeks. Is there a pre-paid photo package or what is the price of the onboard all-inclusive package? I don't see anything on the website like others have mentioned. I don't know if it would be worth it for us to buy a package or a couple individual photos. I'd like to have a couple good ones of the two of us.
  19. Noordam will be at the CT dock from 0800-1800. Another nice day is predicted for Juneau with sunny skies, 0% chance of rain and a high of 67F/19C (low will be 46F/8C). 22. On our last HAL cruise (Maasdam) we discovered that we could not efficiently use the outlets for charging our electronics. I cannot recall the specific problem but now we are on HAL again and wonder if the Noordam will be equally challenging. If so, how do you address this when you travel on her?
  23. Noordam will be at the CT dock from 1000-2200. Keep your fingers crossed that the Juneau webcam will stop the panning:( it has been doing for days! 25. Hi, June 24, 2018 will be my family's first cruise--southbound Alaska after 5 nights on land! My soon-to-be-8yo son is very excited, as are us parents! I have a few questions for those in the know: 1. How deep is the pool with the retractable roof? Is it uniform depth or graded deep-shallow? 2. Can any of the Club Hal activities be done as a family or are no parents allowed in? For example, can we all play foosball there? We won't be dropping our son off there--prefer to do things together. 3. How many binoculars do they put in suites? We'll be in a pinnacle suite and I'm not sure if we should pack our own binoculars too. 4. Are you allowed to take a drink out of the Neptune Lounge (alcoholic or not) or must it be finished there? 5. Is the "tap water" fine to drink or should we plan on buying bottled water? 6. Will they room-service pancakes and waffles? 7. What can OBC be used for? 8. Do you know what time our cruisetrain from Anchorage will get us to Seward? I'm hoping early enough to wander around the port and then embark early. I'm not sure if there's more than one train between the 2; our land & sea itinerary shows a train for transport. 9. Apart from the "fee" to dine at PG and Canaletto, is there a charge for the actual food? 10. Is it true that the dry dock renovations originally scheduled for May 2018 have been postponed? Apparently there are now cruises scheduled during that time. I'm sure I'll have more questions between now and then and I appreciate your responses to my "random" questions!
