    Laundry on Prinsendam

Does Prinsendam still have the pax laundromat? Being she’s leaving the fleet, I’m hoping they left it.
  2. Question for those that have sailed on the Prinsendam in the last few months, what condition is the ship in? Mainly the cabins. I sailed on her December 2016 and at that time the cabins needed some TLC and there were in numerous cabins air conditioner issues. At that time the public areas were in fairly good condition. I have a group of family members that are looking to book the Christmas/New Year cruise. Any feed back is truly appreciated so that I can give them some guidance. Thank you Erna
  3. In looking at the Marine Traffic website today (Saturday, Dec. 1), I noticed that the Prinsendam is at anchor at Charlotteville instead of docking at Scarborough. Does anybody know why? I'm curious because we are on the Prinsendam at the end of the month and are scheduled to dock at Scarborough on Dec. 27. I'm wondering if this is a frequent occurrence and whether we need to develop a plan B for that day in port.
  4. First (and last) time on Prinsendam for us in March19. Usually we have dinner in the Pinnacle during our cruises but avoid the booking in advance option because of bothersome mariner discount problems. Never a problem to book on board on the first day. Will this be different on the Prinsendam due to the smaller ship and more mariners on board? Can anyone take a guess based on experience?
  5. Has anyone sailed in this cabin since September? Have you been aware of any bad odors in the cabin? Alberta Quilter noted that on their September cruise there was a disgusting odor that worsened in spite of cleaning efforts by the housekeeping staff. Help! We are booked in this cabin in December.

    Prinsendam repairs

We are on the Oct 14th cruise from Rome to Ft Lauderdale. Presently in Cadiz Spain having to stay over night for a cracked tank repair including divers. As of now we are scheduled to leave here Fri the 19th at 5:00pm local time. This has changed the schedule for the next 6 ports. Luckily we are going to Gibraltar which was not on our original schedule. Hopefully the repairs can get completed since they have been at it since early Thurs morning Oct. 18th while here in Cadiz.
  7. My last 2 cruises were on the Koningsdam and the muster drill was held inside of the ship. How does it work on the Prinsendam? Outside like the others?

    Tendering on the Prinsendam

Tendering on the Prinsendam How does the tendering process work on the Prinsendam?
  9. My last 2 cruises were on the Koningsdam and I really enjoyed the indoor muster drill. Got spoiled! Can someone tell me where is the muster drill location on Prinsendam? Still outside? Thanks in advance.

    Prinsendam Internet??

First time on the Prinsendam - how is the internet onboard? Is it slow like the rest of the fleet or has HAL updated the internet on the Prinsendam? Is it unlimited or by the minute?

    Prinsendam question?

Is the self serve laundromat still free on the ship? Will take my own soap but want to verify machines are free as they were a couple of years ago. Sent from my iPad using Forums
  12. Hi Prihsendam old-timers. I'm looking at booking a Vista Suite on promenade deck (AB/BC). They look desirable, with larger verandahs than usual for the ship. Does that translate to a smaller actual non-verandah cabin interior, though? And are the verandahs at lest partially covered? Thanks!
  13. Prinsendam will be heading to drydock on Friday. She will be at Pier 26 (port to). She is due in at 0500 but her departure time is uncertain. Every time I look at the schedule it changes. Right now the PE schedule shows her leaving at noon but we will see. The PTZtv webcam can be found at https://www.ftlauderdalewebcam.com/ and https://www.portevergladeswebcam.com/. Next up: Oosterdam on Saturday, 8 December.

    Prinsendam questions

Not having been on the Prinsendam in a number of years, I have some questions before choosing a 2019 cruise. When was the last time she was refurbished? When will she be refurbished again? The reviews are not good right now on ship condition. Also is there a noise factor with stateroom 219? Has anyone stayed in the HAL pre-cruise hotel in Amsterdam?
  15. Oosterdam will be at Pier 21 from 0545-1600. She will be heading out on a seven-day Eastern Caribbean cruise. She will be taking a 6-day Eastern Caribbean cruise. Saturday, December 15 Fort Lauderdale, FL Sunday, December 16 At Sea Monday, December 17 Amber Cove, Dominican Republic Tuesday, December 18 San Juan, Puerto Rico Wednesday, December 19 At Sea Thursday, December 20 Half Moon Cay, Bahamas Friday, December 21 Fort Lauderdale, FL Also in port are Independence OTS at pier 18 from 0600-1630 and Royal Princess at pier 2 from 0500-1600. The PTZtv webcams can be found at https://www.portevergladeswebcam.com/ and https://www.ftlauderdalewebcam.com/. Next up: Nieuw Amsterdam and Zuiderdam on Sunday, 16 December. Attention sail-away addicts: I can continue the sail-aways through January 4. I need someone to post the sail-aways from January 6 - March 26 ( I can pick up again on March 27).
  16. Past pax: On previous cruises up the Amazon, was the wi-fi at least acceptable most of the way? Worth getting the cruise-long package, or just a waste of money?
  17. What are the current outdoor dining options on Prinsendam (for those not in veranda cabins!), in terms of location, hours, and menu variety? We'll sail on her for the first time in 2019, and I read somewhere that there was once an outside dining area for the Lido buffet, but that it was enclosed to create Wintergarten, etc.

    Prinsendam Questions

Prinsendam Questions We are booked in a Large Outside Cabin Guarantee Bathrobe – Do we get bathrobes? Refrigerator – Is there a fridge in the cabin? Toiletries – What are the toiletries like? Is conditioner provided, or is it “Conditioning Shampoo”? Bar soap or Bath Gel? Lotion? Self- Service Laundry – What is the cost for Washers and Dryers? Is detergent available for purchase? DVD Player – Is there a DVD Player? DVD Movies for rent?
  19. We recently booked an oceanview cabin on the Prinsendam for June, but would really like a balcony when the upgrade price drops as the sail date draws closer. Our booking agent said that unlike some cruiselines, HAL doesn't notify agents when the balconies come available for this kind of cabin shifting, so that we need to check the website periodically. Not being one to obsessively check things daily when it's not necessary, I'd like to know when the right time is so I don't miss a good opportunity due to too much casualness. (The agent didn't say much on that point!) Does anyone have insights to share about the HAL process & timeline for "bargain" cabin upgrading? Would it be different for Prinsendam than for the larger ships?

    Norway on Prinsendam

DH says he will consider the 14 day North Cape and Gems of Norway cruise next year. Can anyone tell me if the cruise includes ports or cruising that would be specific to the Prinsendam (that other HAL ships don’t usually do, or can’t do)? If there’s nothing special about that itinerary (except getting to cruise Prinsendam), we might just wait until after retirement. Don’t get me wrong, I really want to try PDam.
  21. I have followed several of the threads and opinions concerning the Prinsendam. It has been several years since we cruised HAL (I think almost 10). Our last cruise on HAL was in Alaska and I recall finding the ship absolutely dead at 8:30 pm. I recall one evening being at Guest Services and asking where everyone was and their reply was, "In Bed". :o My husband and I have sailed Celebrity, Princess & NCL the last several years. Because Morocco is on my husband's bucket list, we booked the TA on the Prinsendam next March. This was booked before we learned of the recent sale of the P'dam. Can anyone give me an idea of what to expect on the transatlantic crossing as we have never done one on our prior cruises? What entertainment and/or activities are generally available in the evening hours? We do Select or "open" dining and usually eat late. Celebrity does a good job with things like Silent Disco and live music / performers in the various bars and lounges in the evening. What does HAL offer these days? We are not the type that will stay out way late or into the early morning hours, but we usually look for some form of entertainment after dinner and before calling it a day. Any info would be appreciated.
  22. I'm booked for the 28-day Amazon in November and chose late dining. But I'm having second thoughts. How does As You Wish work on the Prinsendam in particular, since there's just one dining room? We tend to eat later, around 7:30, and often prefer a two-top. If I can still switch, should I? Is it like Princess, where I can easily switch from traditional to Anytime at any point I'm the cruise by speaking to the maitre d'? And what's two-top availability like?
  23. I was browsing through ships for sale and found the Prinsendam for sale for $100Mil. US and the Veendam for $150Mil.US. Any comments? see link below Cruise Ship boats for sale - boats.com

Prinsendam - no more in 2020

2020 world cruise itinerary is now available. No grand South America cruise - which it is normally done by Prinsendam. So sad 😞
