  1. I know Carnival Horizon is a large ship, and we plan to take it in March. Since it is a large ship, is there any deck outside that will go through from one end to the other? If there is no deck outside, how about deck inside the ship going from one end to the other? As you can guess, I like to walk! We will be on deck 6, room 6205 at the end of the ship, which is an obstructed window. If you have been in that room (there is a video out on it, and I liked what I saw), I believe it has the deck right next to it. My question, if we open the curtain to look out, I know we can see out, but can people see us in our room as well? I believe someone mentioned about a secret deck on the Horizon. Which deck is it? Yes, I know once you let me know, it won't be a secret anymore. 🙂
  2. I know there are several Pay restaurants on the Horizon ship. Did I read that there are only "two", one for MDR, and one for My Time Dining restaurants on this ship? The reason I ask, I have been on several ships where they had pay restaurants, as well as the My Time Dining, but always had two MDR's too.

  4. I'm baaaaaaaaack 🙂 ((Not from my cruise. I got back from my cruise months ago. But I'm back on CC! Hi friends!!!!!)) If we haven't crossed paths on this board or...onboard...HI! I'm Nicole. I live in Chicago. And I love cruises. They're my absolute favorite way to travel and see the world. I don't even know if I could put into words why. But every year since my freshman year of college, my family and I have taken at least one cruise (sometimes two...or three!). And even though my sister (Stephanie) and I are all grown up, we still try to cruise with our Mom every year. It's kind of our family tradition. And I've been posting reviews on here for nearly that entire time (holy cow -- I've been posting reviews here for, like, fourteen years ). See, I went to college to be a writer. And then I got a fancy journalism degree...and promptly went in to a career in digital marketing and merchandising and did nothing with it. So writing these reviews fills that piece of me that needs some creative outlet. And they serve as a pay-it-forward for all of the reviews I read before we visit new places or cruise on new ships. Obligatory family photo of us on the Vista a couple of years ago: So if you haven't read one of my reviews before, let me lay it out for you: these are long. Really long. And they have a ton of pictures. I've been writing this particular review and posting it on my blog for the past six months or so. I wasn't sure if I was going to cross-post it over here because the Horizon isn't in Europe anymore, but then Carnival announced new Europe and Mediterranean itineraries for its new ship and I figured some of you might it useful. Or, at least, I hope some of you find it entertaining! I write these in journal form because that's mostly what they are: my cruise journal (which also lets me re-live my trips when I share them with all of you!). And if you're not into long reviews but you're seeking Horizon and/or Mediterranean cruising info, I have the Carnival Horizon menus posted here, the 13-day Fun Times posted here and a ship walk through here. But I do hope some of you will follow along because talking about cruising is so much of the fun in writing these, and if you are following along, drop me a note below and let me know! And with that...let's go back onto the Horizon!
  5. Since this is the first time for 8 of us to be on this ship, I am STILL trying to get answers for everyone else with me. If you have been on the Horizon, I would appreciate an answer to some of my questions, if you have one. How do they determine which of the MDR restaurants you eat at? It looks like they are on both decks 3 & 4? My room is at the very front (6205) of the ship, and the other 6 people are in the middle of the ship on deck 6. I just wondered if where the rooms are located would have reference to which restaurant ((Forward or Aft) we would be at? We have an Ocean view room, but has a small table. "If I ask, do you think they would have a chair to replace the small table in that area, as it looks like there is plenty of room? Is deck 3 the deck we get in/off the ship? I pretty much know how to use the elevators that everyone is complaining about, but I have a question. Once we put in the number of people that are wanting to go to a certain deck, are the elevators line up in (it would help if someone had a picture of the letters over the elevators, or how we would know/see which elevator to go to, after it shows on the panel we punch the number of people in) A, B, C order or what? Just trying to find out "ahead" of time an easy way to learn. 🙂 Is there only 1 deck with the Fun Shops, or 2, and what deck/s are they on?
  6. Here is a link to the story. First it was the Vista and now the Horizon has the same issues. https://www.cruisehive.com/second-vista-class-carnival-cruise-ship-closes-skyride-feature/33490
  7. So I sailed on the Vista last Oct and just booked the Horizon for Feb. For those that have sailed both, what things did you find different on each one. Anything you like more on one vs the other? We enjoyed the Vista but definitely looking forward to the Horizon.
  8. Hi all - hoping to get some insights from anyone who has been on Carnival Horizon and Norwegian Breakaway class ships. We are primarily NCL cruisers and have never been with Carnival, but Horizon has piqued our interest. We’re looking at this ship, RC Symphony or Harmony of the Seas, or Caribbean Princess. Would love to hear your opinions about how Horizon compares to NCL Escape or Breakaway, in terms of general vibe, activities, food, crowdedness, etc. Also, if you have any thoughts on how Horizon compares to the Symphony or Harmony, would love to know as well. This will be a family trip for us, our 1 year old, and our parents in their 60s-70s. Many thanks!
  9. To say the least, I believe several of us of the 8 that are going, are getting MORE excited, now that I booked the cruise today for March of next year. 🙂They were wanting to "find out" their room to see where it is located, etc. My question, for those of you who have had the Ocean view and balcony rooms, what are your pros/cons of this deck? If you want to mention anything about the two rooms I mention, that is fine also. I didn't want a balcony, as I don't spend any time there, and it is a waste of money for me. I did book 6205 at the end of the ship, and what I see, I believe I will like. It looks like we can come right out of the room and go to the deck, and then hit the stairs right next to it, to go to deck 5. I know we will have further to walk, but I'm used to walk, and the 3 balcony's are midway on the ship.
  10. Hello, I am going on a Premier cruise on Carnival in October. Has anyone been & what type of gifts did you get? Also, I am to get casino cash. Last year I just went to the casino cage and they gave me the cash. Does this still apply? Thank you!
  11. Currently on the Carnival Horizon. Have been on 9 Carnival cruises but first on the Vista class. Let me know any questions anyone has and I will try to answer as best as possible!
  12. Does anyone have the hours for the Spa on the Horizon? We are doing the 6 day Western Caribbean on September 15. I had purchased the couples thermal suite pass, and will either need to cancel it or change it to a single pass as my husband can no longer travel (son is taking his place thankfully). Knowing the hours would help make the decision. TIA
  13. Just wondering if anyone has had the Premier cruise on the Horizon? What did you get in your room & was it fun?
  14. I am planning on booking 4 rooms on the Carnival Horizon, which I have never been on before. If you have been on the Horizon, and booked a lower deck of 1, 2 or 3, would you tell me if it is worth booking a lower deck, other than saving money? I may be wrong, but each deck we move up, isn't the cost more? If you want to give me the pros/cons of YOUR opinion of an upper deck (inner room), compared to a lower deck, I would live to read YOUR opinion.
  15. Help us out! We have the Horizon booked in a Havana Cabana Suite for an 8 day cruise in Oct. 2020 ( never tried the Havana area or Horizon). Then we spied an 14 day Journeys cruise on the Pride Nov. 2020 in an OS for the same price and a really awesome itinerary for same price. We can’t do both......haha! We used to cruise on Celebrity but found for the price we can do a bigger room on Carnival and we love the fellow passengers on Carnival much more (always friendly, fun and down to earth). Help fellow cruisers! 🙏🏻
  16. I believe I know the answer, but thought I would ask. Is it the "higher" the deck the price goes up? Is the room more costly if it is in the middle of the ship, instead at either end of the ship?
  17. This will seem like a strange question, and I am leaning towards the Sensation ship to take, but thought I would ask. I am needing "4" Port Hole rooms on the same side of the ship, and checking between the Sensation and Horizon. "If???" I am seeing the deck plan right, it doesn't look like there are 4 rooms next to each other on the Horizon ship, only the Sensation. If you have been on the Horizon and know of it having more than 2 Port Hole rooms on one side, please let me know.
  18. Hi All, I have a quick question about the Carnival Horizon and their spa prices. I want to treat my parent's to a massage during our trip as a surprise and a thank you for just being all around amazing. Does anyone know the prices for a standard 30 min-1 hour massage on the Horizon? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!!
  19. It's been a while since I have reserved a table at the specialty dining. Can someone tell me how long it should take to receive confirmation? I received confirmation from one restaurant right away but haven't heard from the other, and am worried my request may not have gone through. Is the FTTF option worth the money? This is new one to me, it wasn't an option on my last cruise.
  20. Leaving on Horizon this weekend and have some friends that booked same cruise. When we booked we reserved the late dinner seating but our friends have anytime seating. Can we occasionally join them at anytime seating dining room? They can’t get late seating with us, it’s sold out.
  21. We are trying a Carnival cruise because of an amazing itinerary but I am not familiar with their ships at all. I wanted to know how the Loft 19 works and if anyone knows the current prices? Can you book ahead of time or only once on board? Also, does anyone know if Cove Balconies can have the divider opened? Any other Horizon tips would be greatly appreciated!
  22. Hello everyone! First time poster here, and second time cruiser. I stumbled upon this site while trying to find things to do for my family and I during our cruise on the Horizon. Let me just say I have loved all of the info and tips you all have so diligently laid out. My parents were definitely impressed when I started listing off things for us to do and sending them lists of things that need to be arranged before we cruise. We will be cruising out of the Miami port on Sunday Sept 1 - Sept 7. Our ports are Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. Just wanted to say, if anyone else is on the same cruise feel free to connect!! Or if you have any tips feel free to share as well. Thanks again and Happy Cruising!
  23. Hey all! We’re booking our next cruise and need some wisdom from the experienced cruisers. We’re doing the 8 night on the horizon and have decided to do spa level. Right now, we’re booked into 14222, and I want to make sure that’s a good one. When I look at the deck plans, it looks like there’s not much action above or below it, which is what we are after- the quieter the better. Is this a winner, or is there a better one to try for?
  24. We just booked a cruise on Horizon and decided to do a Spa Balcony. We have done numerous balconies in the past, but 1st time on Spa balcony. However, I thought I read somewhere that it is not a covered balcony. Does anyone know if this is true and if not, how does it affect the balcony etc? Please help, looking to switching rooms.
  25. Hi all, I have been trying to find some sort of price list for beverages on the ship and am not having much luck or maybe I'm just not asking the right question? I was looking for a current price list for wine, beer and fancy drinks. Is there anyone out there who could maybe post menus? Thanks in advance!!
