    New to the Splendor

Hi! My spouse, myself and our two daughter, ages 6 and 9 are sailing for the first time on the Splendor out of Long Beach. We're treating ourselves for the first time to a Spa balcony as we love the spa and when our kids are in Camp Carnival, we take full advantage of the spa services. We've been on several cruises with different lines, but never on the Splendor. She looks like an older ship, which has me a bit concerned. My girls are huge swimmers and loved the Water Park area of the Vista and Dream. It doesn't seem like the Splendor has that type of water features, is that correct? Any tips or recommendations for enjoying the Splendor? Thanks!

    Splendor VS Miracle

Trying to decide on what Mexican Riviera cruise to book out of Long Beach in 2019. There isn't much price difference between the ships, it's like an 80 dollar difference. I'm just trying to decide which would be the better ship to go on? If anyone has been on both and they like one better than the other, I'd be grateful for any input. Thanks! Also, if I did book Splendor I could get it a little cheaper going from an OV to a Porthole but I've read those could be noisy. Especially the one I can get which is 2220 because it's right under the stage. Has anyone else had that room?
  7. My family and I are leaving on Saturday 12/29/18 on the Carnival Splendor. Other than the cruise terminal parking lot, what other options do we have? We don't need a hotel since we're driving to LB the morning of the cruise. Any feedback is welcomed and Happy Holidays 😄
  8. Hi There- I am having a hard time deciding what to do I have a porthole room on the Riviera Deck with my daughter. We want to purchase the Thermal Suite and Thalassotherapy Pool Pass but it is cheaper to upgrade to an inside Cloud 9 Spa Room instead $70 versus $219. My concern is giving up my porthole. I feel like I need to see outside and have some natural light. I don't plan on being in the room much but has anyone felt slightly claustrophobic in an inside room?

    Hello Splendor (Mazatlan)

From the Observation deck NCL Bliss
  10. On the Carnival Splendor is the Steam Room part of the Spa Pass only access or is it included in the standard fare?
  11. We’re in Cabo on 3-11-19, Splendor cruise, and are in port from 10A-7P.. Does the Splendor change it’s ship time versus local time this time of year? Trying to plan a whale watching trip and would like earliest excursion possible (we have FTTF and know Cabo is a tender port).
  12. Hi hi, Anyone have any semi-recent Fun times they can post? Also, Menus from the MDR?? Cheers
  13. Does anyone know if there is an ironing board and iron for passenger use on the splendor ?
  14. I may be a little slow, but I don't understand the social wifi plan in terms of both people in the cabin being able to use it at the same time - mostly for texting each other while on the ship. It's my understanding that, even though we have separate devices, only one of us can be using the plan at the same time. Which, if that's correct, seems pointless if we're trying to text each other from different areas of the ship. I know there's the internet hub thing at $5/pp for the duration of the cruise where we can text while on the ship (at the same time). So does it make sense then to buy the social wifi plan? Anyway - appreciate any clarification. Thanks!
  15. Hi all we are booked on Carnival Splendor 22nd June 2020 and have started a Roll call.
  16. What type of music is played by the pool on carnival Splendor? Thanks in advance!
  17. For the rate we were given for the 27th of September...they had Empress or Upper for a Balcony room. ($579 per person). What would you take and why? For an Oceanview room on the 13th of September, it was Riviera ($469). No idea if these are good rates or where I should go for a room. I did Carnival years ago...Imagination, and we had Oceanview. Never did Balcony. Any feedback is appreciated! Thanks :)
  18. I just got off the Carnival Splendor. Food and service were great, weather was good (had some rain and rough seas in Cabo, yet we still tendered). Some excursions were canceled due to sea conditions. Entertainment was generally pretty good - I thought the Playlist shows were really well done (including Epic Rock and Studio VIP, which I had seen before on Sunshine), although I was disappointed in one of the comedians we picked up in Puerto Vallarta (I didn’t see the other). Leon, the cruise director, is no Emma Nixon, but I think he has potential. I had high hopes for him given he made some effort to liven up the muster drill. We had the MJ String Trio from Poland on our sailing, and they were great - and they played a lot on our cruise, from outside the Gold Pearl to the atrium to the promenade. The Internet package sucked big time, although ironically I was able to post to Facebook from outside the ship on a tender boat. Since my only other cruises were on the Sunshine and the former Celebration, the layout felt largely familiar to me, although I enjoyed all of the extra open deck space at the aft, and the covered hot tubs on Deck 10 at Lido were amazing when the weather turned cooler. I personally had no issues, but there were at least two cabins that lost air conditioning just from what I overheard at guest services. The ship could use some touch up paint but looks in pretty good condition for 10 years old. Slots were somewhat generous in the Royal Flush casino - it would not be unusual to be ahead after one or two spins, although it would be followed by a bunch of losing spins. Cashing out was a breeze. What questions do you have for me? Sent from my eye phone using a three legged yak FFS

  20. Off the Carnival Splendor 9/8/18 after a 14 day Alaska itinerary. Applaud Carnival for taking this itinerary on this ship it was a great trip with sunny & warm weather at each of our 5 Alaska ports. For the Carnival Splendor itself. Received the absolute worst room steward service ever on our deck 7 balcony room at end of cruise reduced room service steward gratiuity by 50% his service was so bad. Also being platinum guests received the free drink coupon good for any drink during seaday brunch totally screwed that up. Spoke to so called beverage manager about screw up he took know action whats so ever. Also the cruise director was someone named Saffie? Midgley she really did a poor job with the activities she was at and very poor humor at the same time. At the same time had a table for 10 in the Golden Pearl dining room early sitting dining time and had the best dining room server Sorina ever who was given extra gratuities by everyone at our table. Certainly will reward those crew members on the ship who go above and beyond as well as critizing those who did a poor job. Noticed never received a survey from Carnival after our return home to rate the different departments on our ship. Are they know longer sending out those surveys or is it because this ship is headed for dry dock in Singapore next year then on to Australia maybe they don't care how U.S. guests rate it any longer. Definitely if Carnival offers this 14 day round trip itinerary out of LA to Alaska it's highly recommended even with the service issue I experienced on the Splendor maybe they'll offer it again on a different ship. Thanks.

    Carnival Splendor

Hello! Can anyone tell me what the difference is between an Ocean suite and a Junior suite on Carnival Splendor? I have looked and can't find what the differences are. We have booked an ocean suite, mid-ship and am hoping I made the right choice. thanks!
  24. Hi friends, Currently aboard the Splendor in Cabo today. Our room steward delivered an itinerary change due to Hurricane Sergio just a bit ago. We will not make it to Mazitlan and instead visit Ensenada. Solid change in my opinion. New itinerary below. Monday 10/8 - Cabo San Lucas Tuesday 10/9 - Puerto Vallarta (preciously Mazatlan) Wednesday 10/10 - Fun Day @ Sea (Previously Puerto Vallarta) Thursday 10/11 - Fun Day @ Sea Friday 10/12 - Ensenada (preciously Fun Day @ Sea) Saturday 10/13 - Long Beach Cheers

Just off Splendor - Ask me Anything

Sailed Mexican Riviera July 21-28. Previously only sailed on HAL. Carnival was better than I expected. Aft balcony on deck 8 was great. Did the MDR late seating, food and service was typically OK. Buffet was "meh" at best. Ship was sold out but only felt crowded at lunch on Lido. Questions? Ask away! ~Marc
