  1. Hi all, This will be hubby and my first RCI cruise, this coming fall (assuming cruises do in fact sail.) My first two cruises were on Carnival, and he and I have both been on newer NCL and HAL cruises. For the longest time I've been wanting to try Allure of the Seas. I know Allure isn't so new anymore but I love all the pictures and reviews I've read. Just looking for lots of opinions, please. I've sort of eliminated this option, but not completely--- 9 nt. Anthem of the seas NYE cruise this Dec., out of NJ. We could drive up from VA and spend one night at hotel.
  2. Given that Odyssey has been moved to a country with the best vaccine rate in the world, and my cancellation letter makes specific mention of Anthem and the UK, I would guess that as the UK will complete its vaccine programme in the summer, Anthem will do UK only for UK passengers by August
  3. I was wondering if anyone had been lucky enough to have heard if they had been picked yet. They did say on or before 30th April. I assume that if you don’t hear anything that you haven’t been successful . Haha I keep checking my inbox !!
  4. For some reason the ocean view category is minimal and relegated to deck 3. Is this peculiar to this ship? Agents are very reluctant to assist in the booking of this ship--cannot imagine why, since the sailing date is one year from now. I need some thoughts as to why I am being pushed into a guarantee room by agents.
  5. Wife and I are thinking about booking a 1 bedroom (GS) Grand Suite on the Anthem of the Seas in January. We have never sailed RC. Is a GS similar to the Haven on NCL? Similar perks. How / when do you go about purchasing passes for the thermal spa and solarium? Thanks
  6. Booked a four night coastal cruise on Anthem. Just checked my cruise planner and the Deluxe drinks package is priced at £ 79.80 ($ 110) per night! On top of this internet is £ 9.87 and gratuities £ 11. A total of approx £ 100 per person per night. Princess are offering all of the above for £ 30 per night. P&Os drinks package is £ 40 per night with no gratuity to be paid. How can RCI justify this ridiculous price. Their cruise prices are more expensive, which I understand as the Anthem is a beautiful ship but the “add ons” are exorbitant and unjustified
  7. Hi all, I am wondering if one is better then the other & which you would pick and why. Thanks!
  8. Has anyone stayed in cabin 10162, was wondering about bed placement.
  9. Dear Guest, The past year has been challenging, but we’re getting ready for our Royal Comeback. Over the last 12 months, we’ve worked around the clock preparing for our return. We’ve spent countless hours hyper-focused on developing new protocols and procedures, scheduling new itineraries, and adjusting and evolving our plans. While we’ve been getting ready, there is still significant uncertainty surrounding resuming operations globally. But, some regions and ports are starting to welcome back travelers and encouraging cruising. Our mo
  10. Hi, Can anyone tell me the difference in the grades 1d through 8d balcony cabins? Has anyone stayed in a non obstructed balcony that they would rather avoid, and if so why?
  11. See Cruise Critic's News page. RCI is, I think, the 11th cruise line to start sailing this summer out of the UK, going around the British Isles.
  12. Hi, I've had the month of November open up for me so I am thinking about booking a cruise on Anthem. Prices are low in November but it still would be an "extra" cruise so we are thinking about trying a virtual balcony. There are only 2 interior categories that I see on a test booking. With and without connecting. Do all of the interior rooms on Anthem have virtual balconies? If that is the case maybe I'll let them pick. It's even cheaper and if it's a VB I don't really care where it's located. Thanks.
  13. Hi everyone, I've read before that people believe the cabins alternate bed/sofa position on the anthem. I'm looking to book a balcony cabin (probably a d2 or a d3) but I am hoping to get one where the bed is closer to the balcony and the sofa near the bathroom. Has anyone had that setup? Or know which it would be? How to tell?
  14. Hi hope you are all well and looking forward to cruising again. I am looking for some help with booking a cabin for Norwegian Fjords cruise Aug 2022. Not a lot left so options are :- 13518 13142 12132-4 13524-6 8516 8518 There is also the enclosed cabins at front of deck 8 but I assume you would not get the sun in these. Does anyone know which side would be best for the sun on this cruise in late Aug. Thank you for any help you can give me with this.
  15. From what I've seen, if we want a pullman + sofa bed on Anthem, is our only option to select a suite type room (e.g. Junior Suite is cheapest)? Or am I missing an option for us? We are a family of 4. Booking 2 rooms is $$$ for cruises going forward. We've booked single rooms before but as our kids get older, it's not as ideal to share the sofa bed. Will still book if that's our only option, but just wanted to make sure. Any balcony rooms for 5?
  16. I am seeing videos of two types of inside virtual balcony cabins. A couple of them show just a single chair. The bed is straight ahead and not to the side like I am used to seeing. Another video shows the bed on the side and a small sofa in the cabin. Are there cabin category differences between them? Obviously we would prefer a small sofa in the room too. Thanks!
  17. Anyone else booked on Anthem of the Seas, April 24, 2022? It has disappeared and RC has no explanation other then it’s “Red Flagged”. It would be nice to know Why and If/When we’ll know about a Cancellation/Change before we sink money into a cruise that doesn’t exist.
  18. Hope springs eternal, so I'm planning a cruise for my 65th (!) birthday in November. Looking to splurge (maybe) - has anyone booked the Anthem Royal Suite Class Guarantee? What suite did you get? Would you book the guarantee again? Normally I prefer to pick my own cabin, but to pick my own would cost an additional $1000 for two of us. Thanks for your help!
  19. Searched but can’t find whether bed is by balcony or bathroom. Has anyone stayed in this cabin? It is a 2C large balcony.
  20. I'm interested in taking a Transatlantic cruise to Southampton in 2022. Anthem of the Seas current itineraries show that it has a cruise ending in New York on May 1st and one starting in Southampton on May 13th but they show no Transatlantic itineraries for this ship but do for the rest of the fleet that is being deployed in Europe. It can't be a dry dock because it just had one. And if they plan to sail empty, which is doubtful, it doesn't take 12 days. Anyone know what's going on with this?
  21. Trying to figure out bed placement PORT side on the Anthem. Using this formula didn’t work for me last cruise. Cabin 12284 bed was by balcony which I didn’t like. Maybe it was a formula for a different class ship. Look at a deck plan and find cabins that are connecting. The cabin on the left as you enter the cabin will have the bed by the bathroom. The cabin on the right will have the bed by the balcony. This pattern will repeat with every pair of cabins.
  22. We are sailing next week on anthem of the sea room 12 678. We are leaving out of New Jersey which side of the ship is this room? Also from this balcony room where we have a view of the Statue of Liberty when we are leaving New Jersey? Does he even pass Statue of LibertyAnd if it does does the balcony view have a good view of it
  23. Good morning. Time for some planning. We are thinking about cruising on the Anthem in February 2023. It would be us, another couple and possibly their teenage son, so we are thinking about one of the Anthem 2 Bedroom Grand Suites. We've been on the Anthem several times so we know what to expect in that respect, but we do have a couple of questions. Is their anything about the 2 Bedroom Grand Suites that could be a red flag? We know there are only a small number of these on the ship, but is there a reason to choose a particular one?
  24. This will sound very strange but I am on the Anthem in April and will be wanting to watch some videos that will be with me in my computer whilst in my stateroom ( nothing dodgy) I need to know what connections are on the rear of the TVs if any, in the staterooms, USB, HDMI,Scart whatever so that I can see if it’s doable to watch on the TVs our not. (Some hotels have TVs specially made without any external inputs, maybe RCI do the same) a photo would be best but a description will be more than good. thank you. Mike
