  1. We are platinum on Carnival and NCL but decided to give RC a try. We will be sailing on the Explorer of the Sea in a few weeks. Two week Baltic Cruise. Any tips, tricks or stuff we should know? What is is the policy brining water onboard. We read 12 per cabin. We drink lots of bottled water. Is this strictly enforced? Thank you.
  2. Looking at possibly doing the Greek Isles fall of 2020...looking for opinions on Rhapsody vs. Explorer for this. We were on Rhapsody for an Alaskan cruise in 2015 and at that time, she needed some TLC which I believe she got some of in 2016, but see Explorer is getting a refurbishment in March/April 2020.....I cannot find anything on any kind of "refresher" for Rhapsody coming up. Looking for opinions regarding the ships in regards to sailing the Greek Isles from anyone who has actually sailed on them over there. We are in Florida, so the Caribbean is our usual sailing grounds, so thanks for your opinions about the Greek Isles area and the ships! Thanks!
  3. Hi there! We are looking to book a cruise for February 2020 and came across the 9 night Explorer of the Seas itinerary which we think we would love. Have been on this ship several times but it has probably been about 4 years and I am wondering what shape she is in. I think I read she will be going into dry dock next year, but it would not be before this cruise. Looking for any opinions from recent travelers. Should we “go for it” or choose another ship. As a side note, it is myself and my husband who would be going. We are mid 50’s and have sailed a bunch of times on several different lines . We love RCCL and know what to expect, just curious on whether this ship is still in good shape or if we should choose another. Thanks so much!
  4. Hi we are doing the Baltic cruise departing 23/6 from Southampton. I’m angsting over whether to buy the UDP for £260. Here’s what’s important to us. high quality ingredients reasonable variety and choice good service, I.e I don’t want to have to ask 5 times to get my wine refilled reasonable speed of service, I.e up to 2 hours is ok. More than that is a pain! We are both foodies so don’t mind paying extra IF it’s worth the premium. thanks
  5. Hi we are doing the Baltic cruise departing 23/6 from Southampton. Can anyone let me know what time the main shows (I.e ice shows and main theatre) typically start at and what a sensible time to book dinner for allowing for the inevitable slowish service? thanks
  6. For a Grand Suite I know you get free internet on the Oasis class and Quantum class. There is conflicting information on whether it is free on the Voyager or Freedom class. Can someone who has recently cruised on the Voyager class let me know if you got free internet in a suite. Thanks!
  7. We are new D+. Where can we eat lunch on embarkation day, other than the WJ and DL?
  8. We're anticipating a Southern Caribbean cruise on the Explorer of the Seas this winter. What shape is the ship in? When was it last refurbished? Does it have a Flowrider? Fresh water pools? How was the dining/food? Thanks.
  9. Hi!!! I hoping to find some help. I am looking for a magnet from the Explorer of the Seas, my wife and I collect magnets everywhere we travel. My wife and I were engaged on board this ship. We just noticed we never bought a one before disembarking from the gift store on board. If you know anyone that is selling one let me know please. If you are traveling on board the Explorer of the Seas and are willing to buy one for me, I will reimburse you for the cost and shipping. The pictures I attached are just an example of the magnets we remember seeing on board the Explorer of the Seas. Thank you in advance!!!
  10. Was just browsing through some Summer 2020 cruises and Explorer's itineraries out of Civitavecchia seem interesting. I noticed that there is a June 28th cruise and a July 12th cruise, however, there is no July 5th sailing. I can't imagine a cruise during the middle of Summer being chartered. Does anyone know if a July 5th sailing exists or if something else is happening?
  11. Pictures from Explorer of the Seas from May 2019👍👌
  12. Just curious, while I was on the Ovation people were dismissing some of the flowriders as not being good waves. Any thoughts about the wave on these older ships with flowriders added? Thinking specifically about the Explorer and Adventure since they are sailing from South Florida this winter. jc
  13. I booked cruise recently. At the time we had a choice of booking a standard balcony cabin for less money but upon comparing sizes on the royal caribbean uk website we decided to pay extra and go for a category 3b spacious ocean view balcony room.:- Two twin beds that convert to Royal King, sitting area with sofa, full bathroom and private balcony. Stateroom: 272 sq. ft. Balcony: 80 sq. ft. I have since discovered that the information on the website is in fact incorrect and the room we have booked is 179 sq.ft. and the balcony is 42 sq.ft. Am i being picky or would you feel this is false advertising? Had we had the correct information we probably wouldn't have spent the extra money and would have gone for a standard balcony cabin as i don't think the sizes are different enough to warrant the extra cost.
  14. Hi there, just booked on Explorer OTS for Med in September, this is after a 5 year sabbatical on P&O, and a lot has changed in that time. Do RCI still have formal nights on a 14 nighter. Also, without starting a war, do people remove obligatory tipping at Guest Services and reward your personal servers and cabin crew? This seems to be the norm on P&O and MSC Many thanks
  15. They are placed as PDF files here (The link is to a subdirectory on my private webhotel - my name is Tine Unnerup)
  16. I was on Explorer a while back and they held the cocktail hour up in a portion of the Viking Crown Lounge instead of the Lounge on Deck 9. The Deck plans still show the lounge on Deck 9. Does anyone know if they still use the Viking Crown Lounge for the Suite lounge?
  17. Which ship do you prefer? I know they're sister ships. We actually were on Explorer of the Seas in 2001! Seems like yesterday. However, it's not yesterday. Which ship is in better condition. Doing a quick read of current reviews, it seems Adventure gets pretty good reviews while Explorer's reviews are not great. The room category we'd select would probably be a Junior Suite. Itinerary Southern Caribbean.
  18. I know this is really far out but I’ve seen an ABC itinerary for Explorer leaving March 12, 2021 on a few different sites but it’s no where on Royal Caribbean’s site. Any ideas why? There are cruises before and after that date, it’s like that period is blocked out for EOTS. Possible charter pending? 🤔
  19. Just wondering which restaurants would be included in this package on the Explorer of the Seas? We are cruising over NYE and have heard they jack up the price for NYE would we still be able to use this package for that night? If we ate in the main dining room dose it work for ordering the up charge items such as a steak?
  20. We are doing a 14 night Italian Med cruise from Southampton on 9 June and are wondering whether to pre-book the 5 night speciality dining package at £96.25 pp (approx $122) before we go. We've used the speciality restaurants on previous RCL cruises but have never really thought about booking in advance because when on board they always seem to push a 'special offer' dining package on the first day and subsequently. My question to anyone who has recently been on Explorer or similar ship and can comment on the prices is: Should I book the package now or wait till we get on board in the hope that we can get a better deal? Thanks in anticipation.
  21. Hey everyone. I'm Marc and I'm new here. I just completed my first cruise with Royal Caribbean on Explorer of the Seas. It was an overall very enjoyable cruise and has got me hooked to the world of cruising. I am currently looking for my next cruise. I just wanted to ask if anyone who has been on the explorer whether they have ever had problems with the coca-cola freestyle machines? I've used similar on land, mainly at Burger King and loved them. On the explorer they just seemed useless. For the size of the ship and the amount of passengers there were only four machines that I came across - 2 in the Royal Promenade & 2 in the windjammer. One of the two in the promenade was under maintenance for the entire trip, it didn't work from day one. The other was was freezing all the time. My cabin was on deck 3 so it was a bit of a nuisance to go all the way up to the windjammer and make my way through the crowd of people to get a drink. The windjammer ones weren't much better either, regularly freezing up and I kept getting the message "next drink in 59 minutes". The other problem was them constantly running out, not the machines fault but I think someone should have been responsible for regular restocking. I know it might seem like I'm moaning about little things given the number of people that try using them but at the end of the day when you've purchased a beverage package there is some expectation that you get the service you are paying for. There were a number of times I had the guys behind the counter in the promenade cafe refill my cup, this was fine but not much variety.
  22. Has the refit work for next year been announced yet, does anyone know. We’re just off explorer on Friday and it is in need of someone TLC. Whilst we thoroughly enjoyed the cruise as always you can see areas where work needs done.
  23. Hello, i cant seem to find any reviews of this type of cabin, they are in the front of the ship, has anyone stayed in one? thanks!
  24. Hello all. I’ve been looking at an Explorer cruise out of Southampton. I did a dummy booking and the only choice of dining was traditional 6pm or 8.30pm. Is my time dining not on this ship? Thanks for any help.
  25. Looking for some advice. We have been on several cruises and have been in Aft rooms, which I love but not convinced I would like the infrastructure in the way on Explorer. We are a family of 6: Self, husband, 10 year old, 11 year old, my adult son 29, and mother. We are needing 2 rooms preferably beside each other and have several options. I'm looking for thoughts on these cabins. 7th floor aft corner and one next to it 8th floor aft corner and one next to it 10th floor aft corner and one next to it 2 hump balconies that are next to each other. Which would you choose? Cost difference is minimal only $25pp separates them.
