Princess Credit Card Enhancements

For earning points the notice says: "Earn 2x points for every $1 spent on Princess Cruises and other World's Leading Cruise Lines purchases - including cruise bookings, onboard amenities and more." So this applies to all CCL owned cruise companies.

For redeeming points for more than 1% value, this only applies to Princess charges.

I called Barclay to verify that I would get double points for purchases on other cruise lines within the Carnival family and was told that was now the case.I paid off a HAL cruise this week and only received single points. Can anyone verify that they have gotten the 2X credit?

While I haven't had any purchases on other Carnival Corporation cruise lines, I was told by a Barclay supervisor that the letter saying we'd get 2X points on them (AKA World's Leading Cruise Lines) was wrong & that the statement in the included Princess Rewards Rules was correct.

You earn Points in the following amounts based upon the types of purchase transactions made using your Account:

Two (2) Points for every one U.S. Dollar ($1.00) of Net Purchases from Princess Cruise Lines including online and onboard purchases.

One (1) Point per one dollar ($1) spent on all other Net Purchases.

Here's a link to a more recent thread about continuing problems with the new Barclay Princess Rewards cards:

Based on that discussion, Barclay's website has not been corrected to give customers accurate information. It's still requiring a supervisor to research & issue statement credits because their website still does not show eligible purchases. Without such info to determine our 1% to 2% points redemption value, it's still being manually issued.

I think Barclays website is screwed up generally. Two months ago I redeemed a bunch of points for a statement credit on my Arrival Plus card. Assuming that three weeks was plenty of time for it to post, I deducted that amount from my payment. But the redemption never posted, and they charged me $38 interest for the $200 underpayment (that sounds like payday loan usury!). When I called, the phone rep was able to verify that I had made the redemption and that it hadn't posted, but he didn't have the authority to fix it -- he got a supervisor to do that. But his attempt to reverse the interest charge failed, and it took a second phone call to finally get that fixed. Meanwhile Citi has a Double Cash card that gives almost as much cash back as the Arrival Plus -- with no annual fee. So I'm planning to redeem all my points on Arrival Plus and Princess cards and cancel them -- too much hassle dealing with Barclays

My experiences with an airline miles Barclay card have also had problems so there appears to be a trend with any Barclay card.

Each year at renewal I earn a companion discount voucher which is never issued until I call them & they issue it after escalating the problem. Thankfully I deal directly with the airline to use the voucher or to redeem mileage and not have to depend upon Barclay to issue a reward like we have to do with their Princess rewards card.

Also, not a fan of Barclay. Not had a great experience- and have "broken up with them".

I found the letter stating that I would get double points on all Leading Cruise Lines charges and called Barclays. They said they would open an error file and I would get the double points in 7-10 days.

That's great!

They've known about their contradictory statements in their letter & detailed rules for months and should have notified their customers about which is correct. Their "error file" should already be full on customer problems.

Hopefully it's your 2X points experience but maybe it was merely waiving their rules for an upset customer due to their inconsistent statements & their incompetence to provide a working system.

Either way...congratulations on receiving 2X points.

I don't actually have the additional points yet, but I will hold their feet to the fire.I called Barclay on Tuesday to verify the double points, which they did.I have twice redeemed my points for a $4000 benefit using 265,000 points each time so I would consider myself a decent customer. The only downside is that I have never paid them any interest but am sure they make more than enought from the merchants I charge with.

I regret starting this thread, because this Princess/Barclay credit card has proven to be so difficult to use. After being unable to redeem 1/3 of my points [https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2571822] I have cut up my card and will never use any cruise line credit card again. What good is earning points if they make you jump through so many hoops to redeem them? Give me cash and make it easy to redeem. Thankfully, I have several other cards that do this.

Not sure what your issue could be, but I redeemed my points for the cruise we are leaving on Saturday and received $700 of OBC...took me 2 minutes to process my request on the Princess Card site.

Same here. I haven't run into the same problems that others seem to be having & haven't lost any points YET.

When & if that time comes I'll dump the card for something better.
