Will a World cruise ever be offered?

Just was wondering folks i live in the UK and was intrigued as to why P&O (Australia) never offer up a World cruise?

Even the Chinese have had a WC on Costa Atlantica in the last few years that seemed popular, and i know the Australian Princess based ships do them to why not P&O?

If anything you would think eventually most people would have covered the South Pacific Islands and New Zealand and would be looking for new horizons to explore?

Costa is a more international line - even the example you point out demonstrates that as it is an Italian originated line yet as you refer operates in Asia amongst others.

Princess is similarly an international line, with ships in most continents. So doing a world cruise is just an enhancement of that.

P&O on the other is very much a domestic operator, not operating in any other region, like your Ocean Village used to. It's very much an equivalent to that, only serving Australian cruises and with more a young, party oriented approach. For that, cultural excursions to far flung places aren't the emphasis, and not what it is skilled at delivering.

P&O Australia has the same market position as Ryanair in the UK. It's a brand that is set-up to attract primarily the demographic of those who can only just afford to go on a cruise. They sail hand-me-down end-of-life ships that are otherwise not usable in the first-world cruise market. Those that take World cruises would not tolerate the product.

The above is incorrect, in multiple ways.

P&O is really the first cruise line here, and it's incorrect to say it was set up just to target the super budget end of the market. It was set up to offer cruise holidays to Australians - and started by servicing our islands and the main demographic attracted to that was young, party types so it filled that role.

Further, it's not comparable to RyanAir, and it also doesn't target those who can "just afford to cruise." Pricing is usually cheaper, but not hugely different from other lines - it's not like prices between Ryanair and BA. It also doesn't only service second tier (cheaper) ports, charge for basics like luggage and check-in, and a host of other things that don't compare. The standard is more 3 star than 4 star, but is not unique in the cruise market - as said, Ocean Village was comparable.

It offers a standard cruise experience but does charge for some extras that others include e.g. Pizza and ice cream - but then so do others e.g. Princess and RCL also charge for the flavoured ice cream the same, and Celebrity also introduced charges recently for hot dogs and burgers (since removed) so there's not a big difference there.

Given world cruisers often are retired due to needing months to cruise, they're not often looking for lots of activities and parties which P&O specialise in. Equally P&O does not operate in other regions, it's not a service that their market segment is looking for.

Sadly P&O (Australia) is not in the same category as P&O (UK),so no.

Pacific Pearl (P & O Australia) previously Ocean Village and now CMV Colombus is doing a world cruise from Tilbury London 5th Jan 2018 for 50 days and more visiting Australia and New Zealand She is more than capable of this sailing as a proper Ocean going liner and not a floating skyscraper hotel - she is a lovely ship and her passengers will not be 18/30 party animals but those who loved her as Ocean Village

I thought this thread was asking if P&O Australia would run such a cruise? As you note the ship you mention is not part of the P&O Australia fleet. As for 18/30; we're talking almost exclusively Australians on P&O and the favourite pastime of most Australian's of all ages is drinking to excess. No matter in some senses since P&O has more security per passenger than any other Carnival brand.
