Princess casino Comp Cruise voucher rec'd

Could you share what the cost of the upgrade was? As noted before I'm used to Carnival's offers like this but not Princess. On Carnival, upgrade from free inside to Balcony is usually 250 - 260 per person on a 7 or 8 night cruise. Upgrade to OV usually 100. But you can choose the highest balcony category in that group.

Yes... for the 10 day cruises I checked on the cost to upgrade from inside to:

Oceanview, $200 per person.. (I'm now kicking myself for not thinking to ask if I went by myself if it meant I wouldn't be double charged...she worded it $200 per person)

Balcony, $400 per person (in one case it was $430 per person..this was a ship that only had balconies)

The cost to add a 3rd/4th person was $599 for inside or $849 ocean view/balcony on one of the cruises. I didn't ask about this option on every cruise.

I didn't check any shorter cruises..or ask about mini-suites. Also, availability for balconies was limited...she mentioned obstructed views.. since I was really just trying to get some basic starting info and still haven't picked a cruise I didn't didn't deep into categories, etc. I did ask if it's common for casino guests to be upgraded (because I read that in this thread) and she said no that doesn't happen very often.

I am very new to the elite thing on cruising... I'm a pro at United Airlines upgrades and their elite program but no idea how it works on a cruise line. Loyalty programs are hobbies to me and now I am hooked and like to learn.. I did some reading on this board....

I'll be sailing Vancouver to Seattle in a couple weeks just for fun on a 1 day repositioning cruise on the Ruby, and then again later in May on the Crown.. I couldn't believe how cheap they were and it's so easy to get to Vancouver on Amtrak. Big advantage living in Seattle for those...

And I'm soon going to receive on-board dividends from the Carnival shares that I added to my IRA portfolio after taking the investment advice on this board! :D

Thanks for the info. That's pretty comparable to Carnival's upgrade prices. For a 7 day, the upcharge is usually 100pp for OV and 250 - 270 for Balcony. Also, I travel solo lately and the charge is double for me. Still an OV for $200 can't be beat. I love having a balcony but don't want to go that high on a comp'd cruise.

I've used my shareholder credit once (only purchased recently). This was on Carnival and you have to point out that it's not comp'd as you are paying for the upgrade. Otherwise, your shareholder's credit won't be applied to a free cruise.

Enjoy your cruising!

Thanks to all for posting your Princess casino experiences as this is of special interest to me. We love Princess and are Platinum but we haven't cruised on Princess for the past few years because of all the great casino deals we get from NCL and CCL. It's hard to leave FREE to go back to Princess and just get a percentage off no matter how much we love Princess. Now, however, that I have read whats been posted I'm thinking maybe we might take Princess up on it's offer of 35% off plus casino cash and see what happens with their offers after we take that cruise as it sounds like their casino offers are similar to NCL and CCL. Have to think about this a bit more.

Took advantage of the casino benefit. Inside, 10 day San Fran roundtrip to Alaska on Sept. 8, 2016.

We have sailed with Princess many times and have tried all staterooms. We have settled into an inside cabin. Never there anyway.

Looking forward to this cruise. Sailed a few months ago to Hawaii on the Grand (fourth trip on the old girl) and it is always Grand.

Had 'connected' with many of the ships personal and looking forward to seeing them again.

Still waiting to see about CCL stockholder benefit. Any cruise is good as far as we are concerned and Princess fits us perfectly.

Thanks! I called today and sadly the answer was no about changing to any other region or choosing a cruise longer than what's on my offer. I had made a few alternate selections to check availability on 10 day cruises in Sept/Oct..and all of them had inside cabin space.

Maybe I am wrong, but after talking to the person at the casino booking desk I got the distinct feeling they are only empowered to assist you with exactly what the your casino host has given you...they are not casino hosts themselves. So, if you want/need to make those kinds of requests you'd need to have access to a host who can consider your request.

The pricing for cabin upgrades, extra people..they were all in the computer and varied by cruise. And the costs did not at all mirror the actual price differential I saw online for what was for sale to the public on those cruises...in fact it was quite a bit more expensive per person to upgrade...at least on the cruises I asked about. Granted these are several months out.

I haven't booked anything yet..still have deciding to do. One good feature I learned.. she said if I book any cruise before my cutoff reservation date..I can change it to a different cruise or cancel for no cost as long as I do so 30 days prior to the sailing I've booked. That actually can buy you time.

If they fit they are good. I would go anywhere even if they really didn't fit. ;)

Hello all, we just got back from first Princess cruise.

I earned enough points in the Crowns casino for a free upcoming cruise.

Its for 2, Inside cabin, sailing thru Oct. 22.

Prefer doing the Calif Coastal again, end of summer.

Wonder if anyone has experience with comp vouchers from the ship?

And cruise ship recommendation?

We sailed on Crown, liked it alot.

Want to do Calif. coastal again, but prefer to leave out of SF.

Is Grand our only choice? I'm really Not interested in that ship.

But appears its the only option for Calif Coastal out of SF...

Let me know your experience , advice on ships for this?

I have til April 25 to book it. Thank you!

Have to pick up a free princess cruise certificate from resorts casino in atlantic city in June. Does anyone know the time period you must book the cruise and then the "must sail by date"?

Won't know til we pickup Princess cruise vouchers in June.

But if its anything like the one I got from the ship?

Its NOT long. (like a month to book & 7 mos to sail.)

Much shorter time frame to book & sail, than the vouchers I get from NCL.

Which is approx. 3 months to book & over a year to sail.

My offer says "book by Sept 16, 2016 and cruise by June 18, 2017" I have an ocean view up to 15 days!

I have only sailed on NCL lately with their free ultimate beverage offers, does Princess have this offer? Or how much would that be?

Just picked up my Princess cruise voucher from Venetian this wknd....

Certificate says Book by Oct. 4

Sail by 6/30/17.

NOT long in comparison to the NCL vouchers we usually get.

YMMV

Thanks. Good to know. We will be at palazzo June 24-27 on same promotion. Interior cabin! Out of curiosity at what level did you play? I only ask because I understand at certain levels of play, promo is for better cabins.

Want to use for post T-day cruise to mexico so that will work!

We will be sailing to Alaska Sept. 8. Inside cabin comped by the Casino. I accumulated a little over 13,000 points (and yes, I ended up a winner and that profit will be used this time).

Very limited time to book and very limited sailings. We were lucky as 10 day to Alaska was on our bucket list and the time fit.

If I receive that same offer again, we would have to pass methinks. Cruises that we look forward to are not included. Oh well. Still have our Casino fun and hope to win something to place on our next cruise. New England in the fall, Full transit of the Panama Canal and hopefully round trip from LA to Hawaii and South Pacific. Our dream list so far.

Only downside for us is that CCL owner benefits won't be applied to the Casino offer for this sailing.

Hoping the two cruises I'm interested in are not in blackout dates. Anyway happy to go back to resorts for a fun day.

I don't think the beverage package is part of the package, but I'm hoping we get the free gratuities which is what is being offered now.

so far I have nothing planned for 2017. I am a very lucky person as 2016 is filled with 5 cruises and 1 land vacation.

I played only about 10k points, which could have upgraded to 15 day cruise,

but we didn't need that. We aren't retired, and can't take a 2 week cruise right now anyway....... So I just took the Inside cabin.

I told Grazie rep. that I didn't need to spend a couple thousand in casino, for

points toward a couple hundred upgrade in cabin level. (like inside to OV.)

Long story short.....if you aren't winning? Take the Inside, and just Pay to upgrade cabin level.

PS- I've been Gold level at Ven/Palz for YEARS..... they have decimated vp inventory. Its down to hardly anything! Mostly all slots & more tables.

I have an offer that expires in 3 days. It is for 15-35% off (depending on room type), $300 in casino cash, and free gratuities. I was hoping someone who has booked and sailed one of these offers before can help me with a few questions.

1) Are these offers combinable with all OBCs (military, shareholder, FCD, loyalty)?

2) Has anyone booked one of these offers through a discount online TA? If so, were they able to easily get the TA discount and the % off from the offer?

3) How does the casino cash work? The offer states "Casino Cash will be issued as Free Play Credits or Free Play Chips where available." Most land casinos limit free play vouchers to bets that pay 1:1 odds only. I normally play table games like Let It Ride and Three Card Poker. Are Free Play Chips usable in these games?

Any information from first-hand experience is greatly appreciated.

Sorry, just now saw your question. I assume you are talking about Princess and if so, yes, they've been able to combine shareholder, FCD and loyalty benefits with my previous 2 cruises done with the casino offer. I booked directly through Princess. I don't think any TA can get you a better price (IMHO). The casino cash was just that, cash, that I picked up at the cashier's window by showing my letter/brochure.

NRWPA,

Thanks for the response and, yes, I was referring to Princess. I was pretty sure that the OBCs would be combinable. I usually book through an online TA. They always have better prices than Princess direct. I talked to them today and they confirmed that they can take another 11-12% off after the casino rate is applied. They are also offering a $60 OBC but it's not clear yet whether that is combinable. I appreciate the info about the casino cash. I hope that's how it works for me, too. So much easier than dealing with free play vouchers or chips. Just get the cash and go to the table. :)

Thanks again,

Ended up using my Palazzo cruise certificate for an already booked cruise next spring by cancelling and rebooking (rebooked to a nicer interior) Between actually winning at the tables and the cruise savings, I am ahead several grand. It is ALL good.

Good deal muggo!

Was going to tell you, I still haven't decided on future Princess cruises yet,

from Ven/Palz offer.

And then yesterday, I get another "come & get your free Princess cruise for two" yada........ only THIS voucher is at our local casino, like 15 mins from

our house. So I don't have to go so far to get it.

Think this is the second time I've gotten one from them, but last one I let

lapse.

Its funny, you go thru years of struggling to go on a cruise..... and now you got them throwing at you. Its a nice cycle to be in.

Speaking of which, does anyone know if Princess cruise vouchers are combinable? Like can you combine vouchers to upgrade cabins, etc?

Has anyone tried doing this?

(I know with NCL vouchers you can combine Husband & wife vouchers on same cruise for a cabin upgrade. But they WON"T let you both book a cabin under your own name & bring family on the same cruise. Doesn't seem fair, if you both earned one. And you got to pay Port/taxes on everyone anyway.)

Back to my question, is Princess different with their vouchers when you have more than one, or spouse got one also?? Thanks

Hi Rob, which cruise did you finally choose, we had same offer and were previously booked for Nov. 6, 2016, and luckaly it was one of the weeks In this offer and they just applied it, I then transferred it our regular TA and she then added her perks as well. If you are on the nov. 6th cruise, let me know.

Bulldog,

We chose a Western Caribbean on Caribbean Princess in February of next year. We received the TA discount and the TA OBC was combinable so it all worked out OK. The only negative was that I found out that the e-mailed brochure I was referencing was a generic document. Turns out my targeted promotion only includes $25 casino cash rather than $300. But, free money is free money. I'll take it.

Since we booked, the price has dropped quite a bit but the free gratuities promo has ended. I ran the numbers and the total cost is just about a wash so I'm not pursuing it with my TA. I'll keep watching though and if a better promo pops up, I'll go after it.
