On Board Credit question

I will have $300 from the current Princess booking, $50 from my travel agent, and $100 from a Future cruise booking. Total is $450. I'm frankly not sure if I will use all of it--even though I know it will easily cover my gratuities.

Is any refundable or should I just buy drinks for everyone?

From your signature seems your next cruise will be for 60 days ... and the other two you have booked are also somewhat longer cruises.

With gratuities and other things you'll probably be doing your $450 will be gone ....

Enjoy! :)

A 60 day cruise, and can't spend $450 in OBC? Really?

No, actually it is for a 7-day cruise I just booked (and have not added to my signature!)

Just under $200 will go for daily gratuities depending on your cabin category. You can always book specialty dining for one night or perhaps book the Ultimate Ship Tour. Are you interested in any of the Princess excursions? Having too much OBC is a good "problem" to have.

We will have $372 "extra" OBC on our next cruise after gratuities. It makes choosing a Princess excursion much more palatable than usual as we can generally find a private excursion that suits us for less money. This time we will be visiting Trinidad which isn't a "safe" port for wandering around and having spare OBC made the Princess excursion an easy decision.

Enjoy your cruise and, if you decide to buy a few extra drinks with your OBC, I'm sure folks will appreciate it. :D

You could also visit the casino. Register your card on one of the slot machines. Put $50, $100, whatever. Play for as long as you can stand it. Balance going up?? Keep playing. Balance drops? Cash out. Quick!!

We do this over several days of the cruise. Sometimes we come out ahead, sometimes we lose. Who cares? It's "funny" money.:D

And one time, after our cruise, we got the "casino discount". Great savings on some cruises. We booked 5 cruises using the discount. :D

Wow. Who would have thought it was so hard to spend money on a cruise:

  • Art Auction
  • Bingo
  • Bottled water
  • Casino
  • Chef's Table
  • Cocktails
  • Coffees
  • Dry cleaning/Laundry
  • Excursions
  • Flowers for the cabin
  • Gelato
  • Gratuities
  • Photographs
  • Room snacks
    • Canapes
    • Cheese platter
    • Chilled shrimp
    • Chocolate dipped strawberries
    • Pizza
    • Vegetable platter

    [*]Sanctuary days

    [*]Ship's stores shopping

    • Clothes
    • Jewelry
    • Snacks
    • Spirits
    • Trinkets with Princess logo

    [*]Spa treatment

    [*]Specialty dining

    [*]Sodas

    [*]Ultimate Balcony Dinner

    [*]Ultimate Ship's Tour

    [*]Wine

    • Bottles ordered with dinner
    • Corkage for bottles carried on

OP, I apologize for making light of your situation. The XBGuys generally spend about $1000 per week on a cruise. So, we would have no probblem solving your problem.

I know you will have a great cruise.

Ask them at guest services.

Not sure why you think you won't use all your OBC. Shore your cost around $100 per person. A trip to the spa is around $125 for massage or facial. OBC can be used up pretty quick.

Cash out quickly before too much is gone. I do not see it as funny money but real money.

I thought the one thing you COULD NOT use OBC for was in the casino. I guess I've been told wrong all this time! I'm going on a cruise in March and have a lot of OBC to use up, this is great if I can use it in the casino!! Do you just charge it to your ship account and the OBC will go towards the casino charges?

Yes, you can charge your shipboard account when you play both the slots and the table games.

On our last cruise we had almost $1000. For part of the non-refundable, we went to the casino, put a cruise card in the slot on a slot machine, set up an account and picked the amount of $$ we wanted to put in the casino account. That amount was immediately taken as a debit from our OBC folio. When we'd won/lost enough, we'd cash out.
