This does sound up our alley. Do I need cash? US dollars work? We only have one day in the Bahamas; are only stop - wasn't sure how much cash I should have on hand for that.

I will be honest and tell you that I do not like Nassau, and if it were me, I would stay on the ship and enjoy the amenities without the crowds.

That being said, if I were to get off the ship, I would get a day pass for Atlantis and enjoy the day there.

Nassau

Credit cards can also be used.

Small US bills are best so you don't end up with alot of local currency

although the legal currency is the bahamian dollar. It is the same value as the US dollar and either one can be used throughout the bahamas.

Casinos only take US currency

It you have Bahamian currency make sure you either spend it or trade it for US dollars as it is very difficult to exchange once you leave the country

Many of the small local restaurants DO NOT take credit cards. Although you may see CC decals on the door/windows, the machines break down and arent' replaced. So ask before you order.

You will also need cash for taxi's, jitneys, straw market and tips.
