PRINCESS Premier Beverage Package slight change for Aussies for October 2017.

Recommended Posts

Some good news for anyone booked on the Australian Based Voyages cruising in October 2017. I just found this information on the Princess site :

The Premier Beverage Package is not available on select voyages. For all Australia-based voyages, through October 31, 2017 the package is available for $77.00 AUD per day, including the service charge. Starting November 1, 2017, the package will increase to $86.99 AUD per day. Pre-purchased package pricing is converted at the applicable currency conversion rate from the US base price, is subject to fluctuation and may vary from onboard pricing^.

Thanks for alerting us to this change.

We are sailing in less than 2 weeks and deciding whether or not to get the package at the revised price of nearly $90 a day was causing me quite some stress. Much happier that it will be a bit less for our next cruise at least.

I will have to do my ‘homework’ to see if I can justify it for the following cruise ;)

Only going to save yourself $10 this month guys, if you think it is worth it and consume up to 15 drinks per diem, go for it.:p

Not for me.:halo:

Hi Les,

No need to consume 15 alcoholic drinks to break even on the package, just a couple of glasses of wine and a couple of cocktails , maybe some bottled water, fresh juice and a coffee and you've reached the $77 a day price tag!:)

Cheers

That price also includes gratuities. Not many people factor that in when working out if it is worth it.

Drinks on the Aussie cruises are priced to "include" the gratuities so no factoring in is necessary.

Yesterday I paid for the drinks package for my husband for our cruise to NZ in November 2018 and got it for $76.23 a day. Our cruise November this year is $89. Rang Princess about getting the cheaper but she couldn’t tell me why I could get it for $76. Check your Personaliser, you maybe lucky to get a cheaper price.

Just checked my Personaliser and its also $76.23 today??? Not sure whats going on as it says its A$77 a day but the package is based on the US$59 price so WILL fluctuate, now today US$59 is A$74.5

Maybe its a been priced at $76.23 as that was the exchange rate on the day it was announced, so thats the price irrespective of currency movements????

We have 3 Princess cruises booked next year ex Southampton, as per my signature. Booked direct with Princess Australia so paid in AUD, on board currency is USD.

Now I am not getting the Beverage Package, but just checking my cruise personaliser today, if I did purchase the package today on line I would have to pay AU$89.69 pp per day as it is an Australian booking. The other price in US shown is US$59.99, but not available to me at the USD price. Confusing is it not?

From reading the email i received (see relevant bit below) thats because its only available ON Cruises departing and returning to Australia or NZ, another condition is you had to be already booked, and you have to pay in full by 31st October, non refundable..........Not sure its much of a celebration for the customers, a price hike from $59 to $87, but here is your special offer at $77 which is still about a 30% price rise...........

The new Premier Beverage Package will retail for $86.99 AUD per person per day. However, to celebrate the launch of the new Premier Beverage Package, we have an exclusive deal available to guests who are already booked on a cruise departing from and returning to Australia and New Zealand. Purchase your Premier Beverage Package before the 31st of October 2017 and pay a discount rate of $77 AUD* per person per day.

Thank you, how generous of the Carnival Corporation Bean Counters to offer us such wonderful benefits, Not !!! How about some $30 a day cruises like the North Americans get, they are getting red hot bargains to the Hurricane affected Caribbean currently.

I won't be taking up Princess Beverage Package offer @ AU$89.99 per diem per person. My brain says that will be $6000 for the two of us next year for 33 nights cruising on Princess. Ouch !! From experience I reckon we can get away with wine at dinner, couple of drinks pre dinner and have a bar bill of no more than around $2000, probably a bit less, if we don't drink the whole bottle of wine in the MDR each night. Trust Uncle Les.

Best I got offered yesterday was just on $100 a day for some balcony rooms, certainly a far cry from the sub $100 for a whole cruise being offered in the US but by far the best offer I have had from Princess here.

Certainly a great price Womble, but as you say not like what the North Americans are getting.

On our Princess cruises next year from Southampton on Royal and Sapphire, averages out about AU$270 per day pp twin share for balcony cabin. Expensive I know. :( Port charges in Northern Europe are up there though, puts the final price up. A lot of the American prices quoted don't include port charges/taxes, if you look at some of the big US cruise sites. And on the cheap ones currently you have to be registered with Princess Players Club, never heard of it in my 18 Princess cruises, but you have to frequent the ships casinos and get to be a member of the club, something like that.

We probably don't qualify. But what's new?

Just a reminder thats its only available for another week!

Seems to be $76.23 as well, not $77, saved my self a whopping $9.24!!! Just paid for mine for our January trip and its been that price all month, guessing that was the conversion rate when it was announced as thats what it is as its based on, the US$59.99 price but will include the gratuity which the $US price doesnt.

Not ideal as its still a big price hike from $59, but i suppose we had to expect some increase, and seeing as it only going to be available for $87 from November 1st, i bit the bullet for the "New" discounted price, im also guessing if the package has gone up then so will drinks prices across the board, so will still be a saving..........if i drink enough :-)

I cannot believe people are stupid or crazy enough to pay for such a package. It does not make any financial sense at all. I most certainly cannot fit that quantity of drinks into my body be it alcohol, soda or coffee, it is just too much and anyone who thinks that they can drink that much is only drinking themselves to an early grave. Talk about one being born every minute! If people had better brains they would realise that you could easily purchase drinks individually on a daily basis, still have a good time and even get a bit drunk now and again and still come out better financially by purchasing individually.

Fair enough we all have opinions, but i really dont appreciate being told im stupid or crazy for choosing how I spend my money:(

I did not bother to read all the replies before I even posted. It became relevant to me because I and 12 other family members are booked for a Princess cruise in January and we got the email and decided it was a total rip off even for the people who do enjoy their drinking.

Fair comment. Made round to go round.:halo:

Beverage Package does not appeal to us either, would not get enough out of it, but for those who want to squeeze it, go for it.
