Anybody get upgrade at pier ?

Recommended Posts

I am just curious, has anybody gone to the pier and checked in and found they were upgraded? If this happened to you, how did you get your luggage if you had luggage tags to go to another cabin?

Yes. They find it for you. Just takes a. Little longer getting it. I put change of clothes in carryon :)

Seriously, upgraded on Royal Caribbean???? Never in a million years, at least for me. We have been sailing with them a good 20 years and have never ever been upgraded even from an inside bottom cabin to a higher level. Now Princess, we have been upgraded several times even at when buying a Guarantee inside cabin a week before sailing, moving us right on up to balcony. Maybe people do get upgraded but no one in my fellow group of cruising buddies have yet to experience an upgrade from Royal Caribbean (complimentary that is)

Upgraded at the pier in Stockholm from oceanview to balcony. Jokingly commented to agent that I hoped my luggage got upgraded too. He said of course. Our cabin steward tracked our luggage left in other room.Have been upgraded 3 other times but only once at the pier.

I've seen the luggage found both ways, guest finds it themselves outside the original stateroom, or the stateroom attendant handles it.

Upgraded at the pier last year on the Serenade. Booked a balcony and check in seemed to be taking for ever. Agent was pounding on her computer, walked off with my passport, etc. I was beginning to worry - wondering what the problem was - she returned and apologized. I was upgraded to a junior suite! Really surprised me as I was traveling solo. Don't know why - diamond plus, and it's only happened once before.

Luggage was delayed. Steward was very helpful and found it at guest services. My original cabin new occupants had taken it there.

We got upgraded at check in on our 1st cruise on Enchantment back in 1999. Went from OV to balcony. Granted, it was our honeymoon, so maybe that had something to do with it? Don’t recall getting upgraded since though on RCI or DCL.

I was upgraded 2 years ago on the Oasis. I had booked an inside and had seen a price drop got switched to an ocean view on the same deck that was great. Still on the same floor as the rest of the family. Got to the pier have all my paper work they go to get my room cards come back and look they are not mine. They go back and find the right ones and tell me we were moved I am pissed. I want to know where to they get out a map it is a balcony GREAT now where is my luggage??? It would get to the right cabin ok. I got over being pissed really fast. The bottle of wine from my travel agent wasin the room and the luggage found me. We also ended up 2 floors under the family but we could see them from our balcony. Was hoping it would have happened again last month on the Oasis but no luck still a great cruise

We have had upgrades, but never at the pier. One of our upgrades was during a back to back cruise. The Concierge told us we were going to be upgraded 3 days before the start of the second cruise. It was an upgrade from a Jr. Suite to a Owners Suite on the Radiance. What a surprise.

We were upgraded at the pier on our last Grandeur cruise (over Labor Day). Checked in thinking we were in an ocean view only to discover that we had been upgraded to a Jr Suite at some point. That was a very sweet 2 category upgrade and it was wonderful. Between the stateroom attendant and GS we got our luggage with a very reasonable short delay.

This cruise was a casino comp so we were doubly surprised at the upgrade. It’s the first time we’ve ever had a pier upgrade. We had an upgrade once before (Oasis from Boardwalk balcony to ocean view balcony) but we knew about that one beforehand.

This happened to me once in 16 or so cruises, back in April of 2015 on Freedom. While happy about the upgrade, it costs us a lot of time with luggage and other things in our reservation that was tied to our old room number. We had to keep calling about our luggage, had to beg for the Coke Freestyle cups that were delivered to the wrong room, never got our Meet and Mingle invitation, and they moved it up 30 minutes. Went to Chops and they didn't have our name as well as our Cabana at Labadee. It all worked out, but I spent a lot more time than normal at the Guest services that cruise.
