:p Wow! I feel lucky that I have one of those "secret rooms" tomorrow! It was on the website when I started looking just a few months ago.

We've never had a ocean view cabin before (5 balconies, 2 insides) so this is a test to see how much I'll miss my balcony!!!

The cabins you mention happen to sell out quickly. They are sought after "secret rooms" They are much larger than the normal oceanview cabin, about 2 the size and odd shaped. They are under the dinning room, but the dinning room is carpeted, there will be minimal noise from that after late seating dinning. There may/will be some noise from the thrusters pulling into and out of port if you dock early in the am. There is far less foot traffic back there so all in all relatively quiet.

We have 2 of them booked for our upcoming cruise.

Cabins 2470 and 2473 have 2 large windows for sure. Not exactly sure about 2474 or 2477. they will have a couch also.

Cabins 2462 and 2465 are also odd shaped cabins which will have 2 large windows each but no couch. These used to be 1A cabins which were a great deal for travelling solo. Now they have been redone and are all 6B.

If you are travelling solo, the cabins you mention would be quite huge, do you really need all that space? The ocean view rooms are larger than the balcony cabins, because where the balcony would be is cabin space an extra 35 sq ft for a total of 220sq feet cabin space, where a balcony cabin is 185 sq ft with 35 sq ft deck space.

Hope this helps. Usually these rooms do not show up online, you have to call and request them if available.

Let us know all about it when you get back :D I'm sure it will not compare to a balcony, but you will love all the extra space to move around.

Have a great cruise ;)

Just returned from Splendor's 8 Day Exotic/East Caribbean sailing and going to do a review with picture - we had 3 regular "8B" Balcony cabins - 6417 and 6419 both Midship and 6443 AFT almost next to the elevators & stairs. Posted pix under Cabin Selection Tips link - http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=40160520#post40160520

Also downloaded all 9 days worth of FunTimes - as I took advantage of free WiFi access to the (Fun Hub) ship's intranet site for pax while cruising - info for Sea Days should be the same, but Ports of Call info are specific to San Juan, St. Thomas/USVI and Grand Turk. Malcom, the CD keeps all updated with last minute changes & important info (i.e. postponed/cancelled final show, VROOM due to "rough" seas during our sailings ...) Access it via PC, iPad/tablet or smartphone.

OK I noticed on the fun times it mentions taste bar and I don't see any mention of the sushi hours. It the sushi place gone? Going on my first cruise in 17 days! CAN'T WAIT!!

Also thanks so much to everyone for this board. It has helped me research so much!

I could've sworn that upon boarding her on 9/22 - the signage was still for Sushi, and they must've changed the signage to The Taste Bar during the 7 or 8 hours while docked.

Yes, the place on Deck 5 where Sushi was situated became The Taste Bar and the hours are 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM - offering a daily changing sample of starter items being offered on CCL ships. We're so busy with other things during our sailings that we never got around to check and sample its goodies, and it's almost directly below our cabins. I've even mistaken The Coffee Bar on Deck 5 as the spot for Sushi but further back on the Promenade Deck is the Taste Bar.

We had a fun and good time on the Splendor - and there's lots of info on what's new - the small Roll Call for our sailing is still buzzing afterward ....

Hi! We are sailing on the Splendor in April during spring break. My DH says we can only get one cabana. What are some thoughts on weather we should get one at Half Moon Cay or Grand a Turk? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I think it depends on your needs. I have heard people say the cabana on Grand Turk is nice if you have young children and you want them to nap.

but the cabana on Half Moon Cay gives you fruit, drinks, snacks, mats and snorkling gear.

I'd love to get a cabana on Grand Turk. My mom has some health problems and it would be perfect for her but it looks like they are all sold out for my cruise.

I've had both...and would advise you (if you want to choose ONE) to get it at HMC. The cabanas at GT (inside Margaritaville) are completely away from the action. You can hardly hear the music, and it takes FOREVER for a waiter/waitress to come take your food/drink orders when you press the buzzer thingy inside the cabana....and takes even longer for them to come back with your order..

The cabanas on HMC, however, are excellent. ;)

Hi! We just booked our trip on the Splendor and we are very excited. But, I am a little concerned and here's why: a friend who also travels often with Carnival is on the Splendor right now. She called me from port and said the service is the worst she has ever seen with Carnival! She said they seem understaffed and just too exhausted to give the service she is used too. (This girl is very low maintenance) has anyone else experienced this recently on the Splendor? I am going during Spring Break so I know it will be full, but one thing I have always been able to count on was Carnival's exceptional customer service. I'm a little worried!

We went on the splendor in May and we are going again in January. No problem with service whatsoever. Everyone was friendly and consistent with what I have come to expect from Carnival :)

We were on the Splendor in August, and one of the biggest plusses was the performance of the crew in all areas. You can check out my review via the link below.

To compare the splendor that we sailed on sept 30 and the liberty april 20, the two were completely different with service. The liberty had better service overall. On the liberty the bar staff and servers were quick. The food stations were putting out food as fast as they could. On the splendor the bar staff was slow even if there was no one ahead of you they took their time to mix a drink. The servers just seemed understaffed. It seemed like there just wasn't many walking around you were better off walking to the bar yourself. Food took awhile also. My biggest complaint on the whole cruise was the pizza station. Every cruise i have been on there was always pizza ready and waiting for you. On the splendor they waited till you walked up to put pizza in. The line was crazy at how long it got, and people were saying how they never seen it like that on any cruise before. With that being said we still had a GREAT time and will defiantly sail out of NYC on the splendor again. The staff was very friendly no issues with that at all. Cruise director Malcolm "Woohoo" was the best cd i have seen so far. Maybe we just cruised at a bad time perhaps the group ahead of us wore them all out lol.

We were on Splendor in July and service was outstanding. Most went above and beyond, especially our dining staff. It was my first time on Carnival and I think service was much better than I'd previously had on RCI.
