Sorry... I apologize. I've been on the Emerald and could have sworn one of the pools had a cover. I just looked at the deck plans, and sure enough, none of them are covered! :o:o

Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

It's a tad unfortunate as I love to sit and read on the deck just above the covered pool on the Grand class ships. We have 28 days on Emerald coming up in October so I guess I'll just have to "suffer". ;p

Thrak, you don't have to suffer. Just bring a winter coat and you will be fine. ;p

Thanks for the site it helps to decide to pack swim wear or not..

I am going on the Emerald July/August 2017 to Alaska with no indoor pool might not go swimming. I am also going on the Sapphire July 2018 to Norwegian Fjords, the ship shows an indoor pool, might go swimming.

Wikipedia (not always the most accurate info) breaks the ships down into these classes:

Royal Class

Royal Princess 2013

Regal Princess 2014

Majestic Princess 2016

Caribbean Class

Caribbean Princess 2004

Crown Class

Crown Princess 2006

Emerald Princess 2007

Ruby Princess 2008

Gem Class

Diamond Princess 2004

Sapphire Princess 2004

Coral Class

Coral Princess 2002

Island Princess 2003

Grand Class

Grand Princess 1998

Golden Princess 2001

Star Princess 2002

Sun Class

Sun Princess 1995

Dawn Princess 1997

Sea Princess 1998

R Class

Ocean Princess 1999

Pacific Princess 1999

This breakdown can now be endlessly disputed. ;p (Obviously not all ships listed are still part of the fleet.)

I went to Alaska from Vancouver around the 24th of September a few years ago and the weather was so warm the first couple of days that we went in the outdoor pool and then sat in the hot tub. Take your suit.

We were on the Ruby last August on a r/t from Seattle. It was warm and there were pax using the pool. When we visited Glacier Bay, many were on the top deck taking pictures in tshirts and shorts it was so warm. It is hard to out guess mother nature.
