We have an Owner's suite on the Ruby Princess. The information I have says that there will be CD/DVD player in the cabin unless the ship has Video on Demand.

Does the Ruby Princess have Video on Demand?

If we do have a CD/DVD player, will it play Blu-ray discs?

No on demand on most ships yet, including the Ruby. Once the ship is ready to transition to the Ocean Medallion, it will have on demand. It won't be for a while yet.

Video on demand only on Regal / Royal, etc.

Amusingly when it debuted there, a fleet-wide roll-out was promised.

Pretty sure from reading recent threads that they just implemented it on Caribbean Princess as well.

OK. One more ship in four years. At that pace, I'm pretty sure I'll be dead before the fleet-wide

roll-out is completed.

I can't answer that question for sure until I get on board on the 14th, but judging from the past the answer is No, it will not play Blu-Ray. And the list of movies they offer for you to borrow is very limited and old. And that's if you are even able to get one because of others already getting it and not returning it right away. I intend to take some of my regular movies (when we buy blu-ray we usually get the regular disc included) just in case I get bored.

Will she get VoD during her drydock?

Info only, Ruby scheduled maintenance for a few days, returning to service 10/13/18. Per comment on Cruise Critic possible Medallion upgrade included with maintenance.
