Platinums, what the heck is wrong with you??

<<There are non-special needs passengers who haul their luggage to our area and sit, totally disregarding the very obvious signs saying it is a special needs area. Again, the staff politely tell them what the area is for and they are redirected to their proper staging areas>>

And how do you know who is special needs and who isn't? Are you polling each one? FYI, I am Deaf and unless you spoke directly to me, you wouldn't know it. So next time you accuse someone of hauling their luggage into YOUR area, please keep this in mind. Not everyone's special needs is immediately visible to you.

I am wondering- DEFINITELY not being confrontational- but why would a deaf person need to sit in the Special Needs sitting area? I'm not challenging your right to site there at all, I just am honestly curious... what service does Carnival provide to you by allowing you to use that area?

Is it so you can be given visual queues as to debarking instructions? Or something else I wasn't aware of....

So you're justifying line cutting then?! And FYI i'm not old, I carry one bag and move very quickly. But there's always those that still just HAVE to go faster and get ahead. And yes, those people I will happily block.

I’m not justifying line cutting whatsoever, but I will justify passing someone that isn’t taking up the space in front of them in the line, especially if we’re all walking and spread out.

No different than sitting in traffic in a car. People that are going faster can and should pass stragglers. People want to get off the ship at their pace, not yours.

I'll cram up as close behind you as I can...

Good. That’s exactly what the ship wants you to do. Get off in the most efficient manner. Vacation is over.

I’ll never just step in front of someone if we’re all waiting in a line, but if the line is moving smoothly and you fall behind, expect to be passed. There’s really nothing wrong with that.

Exactly that. For the visual cues provided since I can't hear when the PA system calls all the groups. However, on my last cruise a Carnival rep just brought me to the dining room and let me know when it was time for me to go. Looking back, i'm not even sure that was a special needs area, but just early debarking group.

In any case, my point in the previous post was simply that you can't immediately identify everyone's special needs by glancing at them and it's wrong to make assumptions like the poster did.

I do the same when flying too since I can't hear the boarding announcements so i'm allowed early boarding which is actually a nice perk since I always have first access to overhead bins. Sometimes it pays to be disabled. :)

What's your hurry? To be first in the customs line? I'm genuinely curious.

My pace of life is my prerogative. You genuinely think people need to move at your pace if there’s a gap in front of you and you’re holding up an otherwise quickly moving line? That’s the definition of being selfish.

Do you wait in a slow traffic lane or would you go around the person in front of you if you were driving quicker? I’m genuinely curious.

OK I wasn't going to say anything after your last post about the traffic and keeping up, but this is exactly what annoys me- if I leave safe stopping distance in front of me, some dunderhead is going to inevitably jam his overpriced Lexus in between me and the car in front of me, forcing me to break or else leave a foot and a half between our bumpers! If I'm lagging far behind the traffic, of course I don't care of someone cuts in front, but it's stupid & rude to do it if there's barely enough room for your car!

And this is the same thing when exiting the ship! I shouldn't have to invade someone's personal space and cram up against them just to prevent some rudee rube from jumping in front of the 2 feet I left in front of me!

Be reasonable! and considerate! and don't cut me off in traffic- remember Fried Green Tomatoes... you may be younger and faster but I'm older and have more insurance!

Reasonable and considerate is exactly what I’m preaching if there’s a legit line, be patient. If it’s a flowing walking path to customs and your moving at a slower pace than others, be prepared to be passed. I don’t see what the issue is with this logic.

We’ve had this same issue but on my last cruise it was well organized. On the vista when you enter the assigned station (dining room), you are instructed exactly where to place your suitcase. We were also instructed to have suitcase turned to the correct position so you could easily grab it and walk forward. After the suitcase was parked, you could sit wherever until your line of suitcases was called to debark. Those that came in later were escorted to the back of the suitcase line to leave their bag. It was well organized. Once the go ahead was given we went to our suitcase and simply followed the line out.

Please don't put words in my mouth. Nowhere did I make that declaration, and this is the second time you made the incorrect assumption that others are moving at a slower pace or "holding up" the line.

That's another issue entirely to what we're discussing here which is people who cut in front of others in line while disembarking in a normal moving line. No one is talking about slow pokes who hold up the line, but regular moving people and selfish entitled people who try and squeeze past them.

And yes, I say squeeze past because that's what my experience was that I mentioned earlier in the thread. The guy literally attempted to SQUEEZE past between me and the wall while I was moving at a quick pace.

You'd think he was escaping a fire the way he was trying to get by...and I swung my bag over closing that space effectively blocking him from doing so.

That wasn't just trying to keep the flow of the line going smoothly....he was an out and out line cutter who thought his time was more important than everyone else's.

And FYI, there were no "gaps" in the line....it was crowded like cattle and when lines are filled like that you DON'T try and cut. Just keep your place in line and go with the flow.

These are things I never even think of, but as I read this thread I keep hearing my 7 year old in the back of my head (as he has this problem with the drinking fountain at recess lol) and as he would advise simply say "no cuts, no butts, no coconuts"...

Come on people...first world problems much......

I just eat burritos with heavy beans the night before disembarking. I then stand in line with my luggage and let nature take it's course. Never have folks trying to get too close to me......

Obviously I'm kidding. This whole thread should be used when teaching second graders how to act. Let's act like adults and hope that those around do the same. Life is way too short to die from a heart attack from others behavior.......

Wanted to vent a little, and I think that it needs to be said.

Well my hubby and me(25 plus cruises) love the benefit of self disembarkment whenever the cruise ship docks at its end.

We always get up early clear out of the room and like to get down to the "assigned" area to wait for the ship to be cleared for disembarkment by customs. We have been platinum members for quite a while.

What is wrong with people who saunder down to the area at the last minute and think that they can stand in front of you and get off the ship before you??? We are all adults right? Well today I decided that I would make them famous by taking their pictures and telling them I was gonna post their pictures as line cutters.

I dont think you should have to even have a conversation with adults, cause they know. One of the line cutters told me that she had it done to her before and she didnt like it. Why would she do that then?? Are people getting more stupid??

Thanks

And when you mess with that one hothead that punches you. What next? You must be prepared for retaliation.

Sometimes in life you need to pick your battles wisely. In five minutes time, they are out of your life forever.

Carnival needs to que the line then no one cuts in front. 1st in line= 1st off simple

But on the other hand, when the 1st ones there block up the entrance for others to get in, then where is everyone else supposed to go??? Well....in front of them of course

Why not publicly shame them, they were rude and mean. People need to realize there are consequences for their actions and face them.

Hi Op

I appreciate your need to vent. I do agree with most others who feel you have managed to get overly upset over very little. I am sure by tomorrow you will understand how unimportant this turmoil was to your life.

hope you had a great cruise

That was my experience on the Vista too. It was the most organized way I have ever seen. The CD even made an announcement that they do it this way so that the first people to arrive are the first ones off of the ship. Carnival should use this system on every ship.

I never want to get off the ship, so I promise if I ever get to platinum I wont block you.

My DH had a terrible fall last year, shattered his skull in 4 places (this due to chemo) I wont say that he is "slow" but he isn't aggressive anymore. He was waiting in line a few weeks ago, he knew what he wanted to order, but people kept butting in front of him- I had gone to pick up something and saw what was happening. I walked up and said loudly, "I can't believe how many rude people there are here, just cutting in front of you", three of them walked away without ordering. People know when they are doing wrong, all this don't judge me business, just justifies not doing right. I don't have a problem stating what I feel is wrong, and when I am in the wrong, I can at least say, "I'm sorry". Good luck. And I want to see pictures!:D

Very true. Carnival could do a much better job of organizing debarkation

The last cruise my family and I went on was last August. While I enjoy being platinum and being able to take cruises like I do, I will not let "line cutters" upset me. When disembarking in August we waited with all the other platinums and when told it was time, we got up, waited until everyone in front of us went and then just as we were outside of the waiting area a group of about 5-6 people(not platinum) that knew how it worked jumped in front of us. When we got to customs area to leave the terminal, they were in the line that was not moving. We were already out the door and in the vehicle probably before they made it out of the terminal. I guess what I am trying to say is you just went on this fun filled cruise, don't let rude people get on your nerves and stress you at the end of your vacation because my theory is that they will get what is coming to them for their rudeness & lack of respect for others. Don't let a few bad apples ruin the basket.

Seriously; how long does it take for all the plats to walk off? We’ve never waited more than 5 min when priority self-assist starts.

What was amusing is in the Triumph they’d stack all the priority folks in the dining room and some would put luggage in the front blocking the way.

The cruise staff would come in and make them move it for diamonds and plats to leave. FTTF folks with Blue cards did the luggage walk of shame more than once.

.

I still don't see how this has anything to do with platinum members?

Do people really get that upset about getting off the ship? Of course "line cutters" stink, but its not worth all that frustration. Do you think its just platinum members in that line? I highly doubt that...just sayin
