Princess cruise Ship Captains

He is onboard the Pacific Jewell (P&O Aus).

Thanks for the info! That's a bit of a step down for him - size wise, considering the bigger ships he has been Captain of for Princess. I guess you go where you're needed.

Thanks for keeping this list. I never thought I'd be selecting a cruise based upon its captain, but here I am trying to decide if I have enough time to get a cruise "in" before my favorite captain takes time off. Does anyone know how much time captains take off between assignments; or does it vary?

Noticed that someone posted Capt. Lubrano for Sept. 1-Oct.18 on the Pacific, but when I called Princes today, they said that he was on now!

Just wondering since I am boarding on Tuesday, April 28th.

Helen

Capt. Tim Stringer should be onboard now until June 1.

Capt. Mario Ciruzzi June 1 to August 31st.

Capt. Domenico Lubrano from Sept 1 to Oct 18th.

This are subject to change and could have already!!

There are 2 Capt. Lubrano's the other is Vincenzo.

about who the Captain is. This current listing made up my mind on a sailing. I was on a Princess cruise ship and was severely injured when uncontrolled crowd getting off at a port resulted in my falling all the way down the gangway onto concrete. I was rushed to hospital by port authority as they thought perhaps my jaw and cheekbone were fractured. Great care at hospital and tremendous concern by port authority. Fortunately no fractures or broken bones but from toe to head I looked like road kill plus torn lip and busted front teeth. The ship's doctor was poor at best. No one from the senior crew would speak to me despite my sitting and waiting for 2 days. The big joke was the Captain was really not on board since even his Christmas message was broadcast over the speakers interrupting the Christmas service - everyone only saw him once briefly at Captain champagne hour when he poured the champagne in the centerpiece and quickly left. Even a comedian joked that it was rumored that there really was a captain on board. No one ever saw the maitre d'. The cruise activities director was a joke. I think like many businesses, the senior executives and staff take their cues from the person in command. I'll pay the extra $400/person and take another ship to Alaska since I will avoid this captain forever!! Again, thaks to all u updated this list

I'm a little confused as to your train of thought here . . . Are you saying it was the captain who pushed you? [Captain Steubing at the gangplank with a belaying pin -- from the Love Boat version of "Clue."]

Also, you should know that assignments can change at any moment. The only sure way to avoid a Princess captain is to sail another cruise line.

No, captain did not push me - sorry if my train of thought wasn't clear. The senior staff of the ship were noticeable out of sight and unavailable. There was no crowd control as we left ship at any port - uncontrolled chaos. Many tried to speak to captain or senior staff and no one was allowed to - several injuries on ship (broken arm, fractured ribs, etc.) with poor care and refusal of senior staff to see any passengers who had any kind of concerns. I'm just saying that like many businesses, senior staff and staff take their cues and their behavior often reflects what they know they can get away with based on behavior of whoever is heading up the place. if the captain doesn't give a flip, why should any of the senior staff? At least that's how it was on this particular trip. I agree with you about crew changes. That is why after that trip I have avoided Princess and all cruise lines owned by its parent company, Carnival. I'm sure there are others who have had very pleasant voyages with this particular captain but my experience was bad enough that I have avoided. Just was hoping....

OH NO! This sounds absolutely horrible. For this to happen at all is a travesty; to happen during a vacation is criminal (okay, maybe at either time there is a criminal element). Hope you have fully recovered, and haven't given-up on Princess.

I'm confused as well. Where were you sitting for 2 days? In your cabin waiting for senior Princess staff to stop by to see how how you were doing?

I bust out laughing after reading this! Thankfully I was at home, and the vacuum was on so no one heard the hysterics.

It's Commodore Romano on the Ruby Princess....he has been a commodore for a while...we enjoyed him immensely on our Mediterranean cruise on the Ruby about 3 years ago. He is the BEST !!! And we are thrilled to be sailing with him again in August on the Ruby to Alaska.

eclue

Is Captain Tony Draper not the primary Captain of the Royal anymore?

Last winter on the Royal I was told that he is involved in training in new safety measures. I think they said he was traveling to a lot of different Carnival Corporation ships. I saw him on the Ruby Princess on the May 10 cruise, but he was not the captain. He was at the Most Traveled Passenger cocktail party and later I saw him having dinner with the captain, Karl Austin, in the Crown Grill.
