Oasis of the Seas - Tips | Tricks | Secrets

Recommended Posts

Does anybody know when the Prohibition event usually occurs?? Is it the same for every sailing or does it change every sailing?

It doesn't say what day or what time on the RCI website (presumably due to the "secretive" nature of the event).

Since it will set us back $35 pp, having an approximate time would be nice to know for planning purposes.

If you post what itinerary you are on, perhaps we can find a Cruise Compass that will list the event.

We are on the upcoming May 6 Oasis Western Caribbean but I don't think they publish the Prohibition Event in the Compass.

1. Port Canaveral

2. SEA

3. Labadee

4. Falmouth

5. SEA

6. Cozumel

7. SEA

Thanks

I don't have anything more recent than last April anyhow.

Can you bring soda onboard if you put a luggage tag on it ?

I would not try that at Port Canaveral. I would either carry it on, or put it in some luggage. Porters at Port Canaveral have been known to refuse obvious cases of water and soda.

We are on the March 11 Oasis sailing (eastern Caribbean) and the Cruise Planner shows the Prohibition Event on Day 4 which is the evening after our day in St. Maarten. Hope that helps!

So it was in the cruise planner. Someone had told me they didn't publish it.

Our day 4 is a port day so perhaps ours will be day 5.

We are on the last day of our cruise, and it was definitely in the cruise compass. The paper is already packed, but I can check when we get home.

Our first time on the Oasis too! We’re looking forward to exploring and using some of these tips. Question...is there a do-it -yourself laundry on board or do you know the price of the laundry service? We’re taking few days before and after and I hate to take enough clothes for 2 weeks! Thanks!

There is no "do it yourself laundry" but you can send things out to be done. It's expensive but I can't remember how much.

Whatever you do, try not to do it all. Sailed Oasis 3 times (2 7-days and the 13-day Transatlantic) and still don't feel like I've done it all.

Our first time, we tried to do everything and it wore us out - didn't feel rested after the vacation! Just go with the flow and if you love her as much as we do, book her again and try some different experiences.

I do wonder if the gnomes are still in Central Park, though.... A must-see. :)

I agree we didn't see everything and we were so tired.

I sailed August 19 and didn't see gnomes

I was very surprised to learn that the Oasis class ships only have 2 sets of elevators! I've been on much smaller ships that have forward, midship, and aft elevators/stairs.

Never really a problem except at prime times of dinner and shows

Following! Totally love hearing these great suggestions! Thanks especially for the breakfast ideas and the hidden shuffle board court!

Sailing in 24 days!

Annette~

More breakfast ideas are solarium Bistro and Park Café. We were in a grand suite and ate I think 6 breakfasts in the Coastal Kitchen, the only day not was Cozumel because we had a 8:15 shore excursion time and messed up setting alarm, sometimes hard to keep track of ship's time and to correlate to set my AM alarm.

Make sure you look into all the "small wonders." They're all around the ship -- some look like upside brass telescopes and others like chrome binoculars. Lots of little surprises in them. I know for sure there's one at the aft entrance to the Casino -- a brass one and another chrome one near the Rising Tide bar (maybe Allure?) or at least on the Royal Promenade somewhere. Guest Services may or may not have a list. I always forget to ask for one, and I'm sure I've missed some.

We were just getting ready to go on Oasis for the third time a year ago. Wish we were going again, but getting ready to book Harmony!

Happy Sailing!

I loved these, wish I had realized them sooner as I was trying to get pictures, I wish there was a list/map as well.
