How do Cruiselines release cabins for sale?

Can anyone shed any light on how/when cruiselines release cabins for sale? I am looking to book an MSC Preziosa Norwegian Fjords cruise for August 4, 2018. It is showing no Aurea Suites available and no Super Family Cabins available. I find this very hard to believe as the sail date is more than a year out but I just don´t know if there is a strategy to get one of these cabins. Thanks in advance

Some cruise lines only reserve certain stateroms directly or through a travel agent and are not available on line. Typically these would be the larger suites or those that can hold more than four passengers. I would suggest calling MSC or a travel agent to inquire.

Good question!!!!!!! In the past we've booked a cruise well in advance. At the time, all of the most expensive suites were "sold out". A couple of weeks before sailing, friends who procrastinated finally decided they wanted to come along. When they were ready to book the ONLY cabins available were the top tier suites.
