Special thanks to Mysticks1 on the Celebrity Cruises forum for this idea. I would like to begin to assemble one for NCL

To the moderators, I would appreciate if we could make this a "sticky" at the top of the page for all to see.

Twice a month - I will try to post a PDF for all the ships and cabin information compiled here.

Please, refrain from posting cabin questions here so this can purely be an informative thread, especially for those that are first time cruisers or seasoned cruisers looking for a great cabin.

The template is as follows:

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? No

Balcony view - fantastic, panoramic views

Balcony size? Normal or oversized for class? I would have to say normal, but it was a first cruise so I don't have anything else to compare it to

Was wind a problem? No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? No

Any specific problems with this cabin? None

Any other comments? Loved the smell of the bakery below, and bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept on

Ship - Gem

Deck - 11

Stateroom # - 11002

Stateroom Category – Mini-Suite

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Very quiet. Directly under one of the spa treatment rooms. Cruise Director's cabin is next door; they're never there! Only downside was the door for crew access to the bridge was right outside the cabin door.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Forward view was partially obstructed by the starboard wing of the bridge.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Balcony appeared to be larger than Std. Balcony on Jewell Class.

Was wind a problem? - Only if the sliding door and cabin door were open at the same time.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? - One of the built-in drawers wouldn't stay closed; I just used a piece of RED duct tape to keep it secure. No big deal. I'm sure our steward brought it to the attention of maintenance to get it fixed eventually.

Any other comments? - Cabin is located at the far end of the passageway, although there is another passageway directly in front of the door so that you go from starboard to port, then forward to the bridge viewing room. If you're headed all the way aft, it is a trek, but we would most certainly book this cabin again on any of the Jewel Class ships.

Stateroom # - 11024

Stateroom Category – SC

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – we thought so

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - the balcony could connect to the mini suite next door

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – There is a deck above that jets out. Its not really noticeable when you are just standing out on your balcony, but if you want to take photos it can get in the way. On the plus side it protected us from the rain and that was nice.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Fairly good size.

Was wind a problem? - we never noticed any issues with wind.

Any specific problems with this cabin? - No we loved it. would choose it again.

Ship - Pearl

Deck - 10

Stateroom# - 10500

Stateroom Category - SE

Starboard or Port Side - FWD

Quiet Stateroom - Yes, very quiet, no traffic

Was stateroom a connecting - No

Balcony View - Fabulous, right under the bridge so you have awesome views

Balcony Size - very large, partial shade from the bridge, night overly private

Was wind a problem - It could be very windy and if you leave the bulkhead

door open it whistled. That being said we loved it and would sail in it again

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem - N/A

Any Specific problems with this cabin - No

Any other comments - This cabin was a little larger and had a bump out in the living area with a large window.

Ship- Sun

Deck- 7/fwd

Stateroom #- 7007

Side- Starboard

Quiet Room- very quiet

Balcony view- This is an unobstructed oceanview

Comments: There were no kids on the cruise (Norweigh and Iceland) so the hallway was quiet. Kid zone is down the hall so an other voyage could be very different.

Stateroom # - 10630

Stateroom Category – BB

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Very quiet

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Great view, no obstructions!

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal

Was wind a problem? - No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? - None

Any other comments? - There are 3 specific things I look for when booking a cabin and this one satisifed all of those:

(1) Quiet (I am a very light sleeper), so I only want a balcony cabin on a floor that is in between other floors with cabins and don't want to be above or underneath any public areas. Deck 10 was perfect as Decks 9 and 11 also had cabins directly under us and above us.

(2) No interior cabins directly across the hall. That also cuts down on noise as there are no doors slamming across the hall. There is a linen closet across the hall from this cabin but that of course was only used by the stewards in the morning and early evening.

(3) No connecting staterooms.

If any of these are priorities for you as well, I would recommend a cabin location such as this one.

One balcony forward right under the bridge. Large with two loungers and one balcony on the starboard side with a table and 4 chairs and 2 padded chairs with a small cocktail table.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - both were pretty large. Side balcony is double length and front balcony is very large

Was wind a problem? -front balcony is windy at sea if you're standing at the rail otherwise no issues.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? -

Deck - 10

Stateroom # - 10706

Stateroom Category – H7 (S7) Forward Facing Penthouse with Balcony

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Pretty quiet except when entering or leaving port, lots of shakes and shudders. Could hear cabins next to us flush toilet. Front window overlooks crew party area and could hear slight noise on port days around 1:00 am. Not enough to disturb sleep.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - No obstructions, except left side ship is angled so not entirely open, but this helps shield wind.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - normal, which is small.

Was wind a problem? - No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? - The shower drained very slowly.

Any other comments? - This was a great cabin, with a separate bedroom and huge bathroom.

Ship - STAR

Deck - 12

Stateroom # - 12016

Stateroom Category – SJ (Suite)

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Yes very quiet. No rooms directly across the hall so no banging of doors across the way. It was forward so the only foot traffic was the other 8-10 rooms down that hall way.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – No balcony but incredible view. Floor to ceiling windows across the entire suite and high ceilings. Nothing obstructing the view except the sea :).

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Did not have one but it wasn't missed because of the enormous windows that made up the entire wall of the suite.

Was wind a problem? - No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - No

Any specific problems with this cabin? - No

Any other comments? - Loved this cabin! It is the most reasonably priced of the suites and perfect for a splurge for two people but can easily fit 3 or 4 comfortably. It states you can sleep 6 but that might be a squeeze and there would not be any privacy for the group. We loved this cabin so much we booked it for our 14 night Panama Canal cruise too!
