Has anyone been to Pinel Island recently? Is it open and are the boats running?

You can search for my review on this board, but I was in Sint Martin on December 17,2017, and took an outrigger canoe out to Pinel Island. The restaraunt was being rebuilt, and they thought it would be up by Christmas, so I think it will be there. I do not know the status of anything else, i.e. gift stalls, but they were working on those as well. The beach in front of the resaraunt is a bit larger now. If you need any more information, just ask.

Regards,

Mike

Ferries are up and running. Can’t remember if start is 9 or 10 but am leaning toward 10. They run every 30 minutes and the last ferry is at 4.

One restaurant is currently open and the other is to open as soon as next week.

HAVE a guaranteed ride back to the port all set. You don’t want to be stranded out at the Cul de Sac.

Are you certain that at least one of the restaurants is open ? Not that I think you're lying but I've read a lot of different info. We'll be there on the 25th and was hoping that one of them would be open.

We were there Feb. 25. The family rented kayaks from Caribbean Paddling but I took the ferry. Car. Pad. provided lunch for us but there was one restaurant opened with a limited menu. I've never been before so can't compare but the beach is nice and there were chairs/umbrellas for rent. We got there early and there wasn't many people until after lunch and it still wasn't crowded. The ferry guy said they were continuing to work on getting everything up and running again so maybe by now other stuff has been done.

We were at Pinel Island on March 14. We stopped there as part of snorkeling trip. There is a gift stand open and the restaurant should be open soon. Currently, they are just serving drinks. There are restroom facilities as well. However, they are on top of an incline with a rocky path. I'll try to attach a photo below, but I usually have trouble doing that!
