I should add that this thread is older and some things have changed. For instance, the 'admin fee' on a 'comped cruise' has been reduced to $20 per person per day. For a one week cruise it costs us $140 per person plus whatever port fees are for that cruise.

Thank you. I only have a little over 1500 points. We sail again On the Epic in December and may be at 5000 during that cruise. I hit two jackpots on our last cruise totaling just over $5200 (on the same machine) so my interest has peaked lol. I put a chunk of that money away for the next cruise.

Congrats on the Jackpots! I would have been camping out at that machine;)

If you go over the 5000 points on your next cruise a host usually comes and finds you to set you up with your new card. If they don't, go up to the host desk and ask them to check for you. Most hosts are very friendly and will be happy to check for you. Hope you have another fun & LUCKY cruise!

I hit the larger one the last night. Question, I read that I can have my points from the Jewel transferred. What's the reason for that? They said they aren't counted towards much, just curious if I should do that.

If you get over 2500 points on a cruise, they can comp items off your bill. It would be at least $25 but could be more based on some kind of secret formula they use! I've seen them give from one to three times the value. Also, you can convert your earned points to free play to use in the machines.

What kind of machine were you playing? I love that you got big $$ at the last to take off the ship.

Also cruising on Epic in December.. With 1500 points you still get 20% off your next cruise. Try calling CAS and they should be able to credit your account...

It was a Quick Hit. I hit both on the same machine, I believe two days apart. Thank you for the information it makes more sense now. I just wish I had started on our first cruise lol.

Thanks for the information. I'm going to call CAS today and see what we can get. Maybe we'll meet on the Epic, I plan to spend a lot of time in the casino this cruise lol. We signed up for the Slot pull and Meet and Greet on the Roll Call page.

Do I need to be on-board to see how many points I've accumulated or is there a way to check online?

Nothing available on line, but if you phone they can tell you how many points you accumulated.

Keep in mind the actual “number” of points have different values depending on the cruise length and popularity when it comes to future comps on cruises.

For example for a 7 day Bahamas from NY we were offered:

In November: Haven Suite

In August: Mini Suite

Same number of “points”, same cruise, but different comp. I’m guessing because the Nov sailing was not selling as well.

Your points are good to track towards Tier status for a year. For example, I would make sure to not stop at 4995 points for their year when 5000 points would guarantee me OBC for each cruise in the following year. (Their year is April 1st to March 31st)

For getting comped for a cabin on a cruise it really isn't tied as much to how many points you have but what they think you will play/lose actual or theoretical on that next cruise. Also, it does matter if it's a less popular cruise and length of cruise. If you show a lot of play on your last cruise they want to get you back to play on another (just like Las Vegas).

If you got 15,000 points over 3 cruises you won't be offered the same grade of cabin as someone who got (and played heavy) 10,000 points on one cruise. A CAS agent once told me that Inside cabins for one week offers usually start at $2500 actual or theoretical loss. If there is a cruise that is not full and is sailing in a few weeks, they would probably offer those same insides to someone with a lower number.

I mentioned in an e-mail to CAS that I was going to forward my points from my last cruise to the Epic in Dec. They replied that points are automatically sent to the next cruise. Is this how they do it now? No more having to request a transfer?

"Points are always automatically transferred to your next cruise. You don't have to do anything to have your points transferred."

It's possible, but would suggest you double-check on board. Just go up to the desk and ask. Last year I sent an emailed question to them as I was going to be on a cruise across two earnings periods (March-April). I got three different responses:confused:

2 NCL cruises this year. 4 last year. Always have to tell onboard host to send email request to get the points.

That's how it was on our last cruise in September. But, I went to tell the host to bank my points on the last day and she quoted all my points. She must of had access to them but only my current points showed on the slots.

Question: The CAS site says the forwarded points can't be used towards drink cards etc. Anyone know what they can be used for? "Points may be transferred from ship to ship; they can’t be used towards points earned for a drink card on the players current cruise. Transferred points don’t add to tier levels either"

As I understand it, your forwarded points add in and are available for you to download for free-play and/or be available for the host to use to comp items off of your on-board bill. You usually have to have earned 2500 points on a cruise in order to have them take it off your bill. I've seen them give you from $25 to $75 or so for those 2500 points in the past.

Some hosts will say that if you use your points for free-play they can't use it for items off your bill, but I've been able to do use it for both. Of course, they are much friendlier about that since I started earning more than 5000 points a cruise!

Thank you! I only have 1527 to transfer but it will help. I need to get 500 points a night on the next cruise to make the 5,000. That shouldn't be hard as I enjoy the casinos. This is our last cruise this year (I think) so have to make the next level this time around.

I was told the same thing and Yet when I was on the Breakaway at end of August, the casino hosts told everyone at the casino party to stop by the casino desk and request your points be transferred. When I did I was surprised to learn that they will transfer any points from sailings within 18 months.

Sandandseas- if I remember correctly, One of the Christinas was a host on the breakaway- I do not believe it was Christina Bica but the other Christina (I can't recall her last name)

Question, I cumulated 5,000 pts (Pearl status) after sailing on the Pearl sailing April 3-13, 2017 in a comp inside stateroom. We are now booked on a 15-day TA on the Epic (April 7, 2018 - comp in a balcony), from what I understand is that my status in 2018 (until March 31st, 2019) will still be Pearl at 5,000 PTS while sailing on the Epic ? As ''Points earned April 1 - March 31 will determine the tier level for the subsequent year."

That is correct, you will have pearl status until March 31; 2019. Your tier points will reset to zero (while maintaining your pearl status) on April 1, 2018 so all tier points accumulated after that date will count towards April 1,2019 - March 31; 2020.

Have you heard this before ? Phoned CAS to inquire about any comp cabin. Last trip wife got sick. Played 20 hours in casino. Did not get eaten alive by the gaming. 3 sea days and 4 ports days. Played 3200 tier, and onboard host said theo was over 2,000. The guy in Miami said needed to lose more money to get anything.

I think I hear RCL calling ?
