If you walk along Fjällgatan, take a stop at Fjällgatan 30. This is the house in which the author Per-Anders Fogelström lived for many years.

Hi, Desdichado - what is the current status of construction in the Sodermalmstorg area? We are planning to take the T-bana to Slussen and then walk to the Hilton when we arrive next Saturday- will this be possible? Will we need to walk up to Gotgatan and then turn right? Thanks! And hope your new year of studies is going well!

Södermalmstorg is unaffected at the moment:

The big house if the middle is Stadsmuseet (currently closed for renovations) at Ryssgården. To the right there is three
buildings which is located at Södermalmstorg. You should be able to walk across Södermalmstorg.

Three other webcams overlooking Slussen area:

Hi Desdichado62,- your info has been very helpful in planning my cruise which ends in Stockholm. Quick question about the Frihamnen port. My ship, Regent Navigator gets into Frihamnen on 9/14 and I am trying to pre-book a taxi with Taxi Stockholm. On their website my options for pick up location are: Frihamnen Containerterminalen, Frihamnen Hus N, Hus K, Hus G, Hus E, Hus D, Frihamnen Magasin 1, Magasin 2-9. I can't quite figure out which would be the cruise terminal. Would you happen to know? Thanks!

I think I may have just figured this out. I think it may be Frihamnen Kajplats 638. Thanks!

Just a reminder that from October 2nd it will no longer be possible to use the SL period cards on M/S Emelie.
No decision have been made if this will be turned into a permanent solution.

We highly recommend a visit to the Vasa Museum and allow lots of time for enjoying all the exhibits and the ship itself. It definitely was a major highlight of our trip to the Baltic area.

I will be arriving June 22, 2018. It looks like it will be the midsummer eve holiday weekend. Will everything be closed that weekend? If so, what would you recommend us to do? Are there any festivals during that weekend? Thank you

Shops will be closed but Vasa is open, the Royal Palace is open and Skansen is open. Most other things will be closed.
I don't know if ABBA museum as and the new Viking museum will be open or closed though.

There will be celebrations at Skansen all weekend long.

Need some help planning our very short port stop in Stockholm on Sunday, June 10th. We will be arriving on the Regal Princess, and one of the reasons we chose this cruise was so we would sail into Stockholm. I'm not sure which pier we will be docked at, but we do have a very short day from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm. Our priority is the Vasa Museum and perhaps walking through the Old Town and touring City Hall if it's open on Sunday. My question is what is the easiest way to get to the Vasa Museum? I believe it opens at 8:30 am, and I had hoped to take the HOHO boat to the museum, but from what I'm seeing, the HOHO boat doesn't start until 10:00 am, which would be much too late for us. We hope to go straight to the Vasa Museum and be there when it opens, and then go to the Old Town for a walking tour or just touring on our own. What do you recommend for as the best transportation to the museum. Will anything be open in Old Town--shops or City Hall for a tour on Sunday?

Many thanks for your help.

I took the regular bus from the pier, but it depends on where you dock. It does stop around the corner from the vasa museum. Your idea to go straight there is good— i was probably 10th in line when I got there about 15 minutes before they opened. Totally packed when I left.

I emailed the operator of the HOHO boat, Stromma, about their schedule next June since their regular schedule is usually 10:00 to 5:00. We dock early and want to be st the Vasa Museum when they open at 8:30. The Stromma rep confirmed that they will offer an early schedule to take people from their Stadsgarden dock to Vasa if a big ship is in port. Very happy to hear that as our port time is limited in Stockholm.
