Hi! I've been reading about cruises being cancelled due to charter bookings. I'm just curious to hear about how close to cruise date this is ever done. Is it 9 months out? 6 months? a year? Just got me thinking...

Usually it is more than a year, sometimes two years. Rarely do you hear of it happening closer than that, but it does happen. EM

The latest I've heard of it happening is six months out. Usually charters are booked a lot longer in advance than that.

We have had two canceled out from under us for charters. Both within six months of sailing.
I've also had a cruise booked that was charted. It was about four months before sailing. You never know, but it's always a pain.

It would stink at any point. I'm not going to worry about it...I was just a little curious. Thanks all!!

We had Celebrity Summit booked as a B2B 24 March and 31 March 2018. We were notified 3 August 2016 by Celebrity that both cruises got charted out. Booked a B2B on the Equinox for 24 March and 31 March 2018.
