You won't be kept hanging around deliberately, but you should be aware that those turning up with earlier boarding times should be boarded before you, even if they arrive long after you. P&O seems to be making more of an effort recently to get passengers on earlier, which makes sense as we start to spend money! Suite passengers and very top tier loyalty passengers board first. It's stated as 12.30pm but now seems to start as early as midday. Next to board are the next level down loyalty tier (Caribbean) at 1pm but, again, these are now sometimes boarding earlier. General boarding should commence at around 1.30pm but now seems to be from around 1pm. So, the time you board will depend on when they start the whole process and how many passengers with earlier boarding times are ahead of you. Assume that you will be waiting until your time (take newspapers, books etc) but if I were a betting man I should think you would be on board by around 2pm.

We arrived at 12.00ish for a 3.30 embarking time, first cruise so didn't really know what we were doing. We were having lunch is the buffet by 12.45 with cases outside our doors by the time we finished lunch. That was our experience though maybe not always like that.
