Seasickness or Noro? How to tell the difference?

Noro usually lasts 24 hours. My case was almost to minute 24 hours of the worse symptoms. You can still be weak for a while.

I wish that were the case. My experiences were different and one memorable cruise on the Royal Princess II, I got Noro from an overnight land excursion in Jerusalem. (At least 9-10 people on my tour bus got it at the same time.) It lasted for days (wish it was just 24 hours) even though I had multiple shots and medications from the Medical Center. Five days later, I was able to disembark the ship but that was all. Thankfully, we'd planned several nights in Venice post-cruise so we went to the hotel, crawled into bed and slept for most of the day.

I believe there are many different stomach viruses out there. When my kids were little, they caught them all, ranging from the "one and done" to the 7 - 10 day nightmare rotavirus. Some had fevers, some didn't (the ones with fevers seemed to last longer. The majority were between 24 - 48 hours.

My mother used to say, "I am so sick I'd have to get better to die." I've seen both my husband and DD so seasick I think this would have applied to them.

 

I have supposedly had Norovirus but now think it was actually a gall bladder attack. The worst I had was a bacterial diarrhea that I caught on an Amazon River cruise. The ship's doctor thought it was Noro at first but eventually determined it was bacterial because it lasted so long. Put me on antibiotics and it cleared up.

 

 

My suggestion also is a gallbladder attack. EM
