Are the wine packages available on this sailing with the new list? And if they are what is the price? Thanks.

Because of the transition from one inventory to another, the packages are not being offered on this 28 day cruise which has a number of people upset. LA is our home port so we brought on 22 bottles for the cruise.

What Cunard used to do was start with the new wine list and offer all the other discontinued one on a separate list as "bin ends" usually at a reduced cost. Worked for me.

That and the scones were good on Cunard. Once QE2 retired in 2008 it was all downhill.

The new Wine List appears to have fewer than a half dozen of the wines from the old Wine List so you will probably need to find a new favorite. One nice addition is the inclusion of the vintage. For those of you who win big at the Casino, you can order a 2009 Dom Perignon for $199 or if you prefer reds, a 2014 Amuse Bouche for $279, a 2014 Opus One for $289, a 2014 Chateau Clinet for $299, a 2014 Ao Yun Shangri-La Cabernet Sauvignon for $399, a 2014 Masseto for $629, a 2014 Penfolds Grange for $989, a 2011/2012 Chateau Lafite Rothschild for $1,600, or a 2010 Chateau Petrus for only $5,288.

Here is a summary of the new list:

Sparkling Wines & Champagnes - 10

Light and Mild - White Varieties - 7

Crisp & Tangy - White Varieties - 6

Refreshing - Sauvignon Blancs - 7

Fruity & Vibrant - White Varieties - 8

Rich & Textured - Chardonnays - 17

Rose Wines - 3

Soft & Mild - Pinot Noirs - 11

Spicy & Layered - Spanish Varieties - 4

Spicy & Layered - Italian Varieties - 10

Complex & Aromatic - Shiraz & GSMs - 9

Lush & Perfumed - Merlot & Bordeaux Blends - 8

Aristocratic & Elegant - Bordeaux Wines - 6

Strong & Noble - Cabernet Sauvignons - 9

Multifaceted - Red Blends - 2

Sweet & Luscious - Dessert Wines - 5

This is the MDR wine list correct? How does the inventory change affect what is available in Vines? The wine we drank most in Vines (can't for the life of me come up with the name at the moment) used to also show up in MDR. Although I can't remember the name of the wine I can tell it's not on the list above.

Could it be the Vall llach Embruix Priorat? Big seller in the Vines.

Vines still has the old Wine List but inventory is running low and half of the wine flights are unavailable because of lack of stock. The ship is getting an additional supply of the new wines in Auckland. At that time the new wines should be rolled out to Vines and the bars and we should know what is on the new Vines list.

Silverado Cab - in Vines - $ 12:wine-glass: ??

On our most recent cruises, Vines offered several Silverado wines. In addition to the Cabernet Sauvignon, they had a Sangiovese, a Merlot, and, I'm pretty sure. a Chardonnay. All are pretty good,

A big THANK YOU to IECalCruiser for doing all the work for us. Great job.

A comment on some of the higher priced offerings. I'm certainly not going to be ordering any Petrus. I have, however, in the past ordered Dom Perignon through the cruise personalizer to enjoy on our balcony during sailaway, I just checked, and the current price through the personalizer is $225. So, the $199 price that IE has reported seems, somewhat consistent, My real point, however, is that the "street price" of the 2009 Dom ranges between $140 and $170. (Yes, I'm rounding a bit.) If we, somewhat arbitrarily, pick a single "street price" of $150, I calculate the Princess markup as 33%. That is darned reasonable.

The Grange also caught my eye in IE's report--$989. As recently as last May the SHARE wine list had Grange for $649, which, I believe, was right on the retail "street price."

We will be on the Ruby Princess in early December. I will, of course, bring some of my own wines on board, but it will be fun to check out this new list if it has been deployed. Yes, we will be dining at SHARE, and I will immediately check to see if the price of the Grange has changed.

;)

The prices seem to have increased quite a bit. Very few wines under $10 a glass or $35 a bottle 😟, especially with the 15% grats on top. On this basis we will probably take wine with us and pay the 15$ corkage 🥂🍷. The joy of sailing from a port close to home.
