Regent cruises for gay couples

Just off Regent Mariner last week. So much to like, but also a concern. We were the only female couple on board. A few male couples, many out staff and crew. We were denied cocktail service claiming our sandals and capris were not good enough for their after 6pm attire rules...by 2 different bar wait staff. Same attire fine in dining room, all other places. 2 other couples we were friendly with complained to management for us as they were so upset and felt we were discriminated against. We were hurt and angry, as we were dressed like most others. This is a “ship that sailed” many years ago...we thought. Were we just unlucky or is this a Regent pattern?

I don't feel you were discriminated against.(for being gay or your choice of dress?) Wait staff have a lot of discretion when it come to dress style. As to the dining room. Was this before or after 6PM? Frequently the dress style you mentioned is not allowed on many lines after 6PM.. This style would most likely get turned away on Celebrity/Cunard/Princess, lines we use. Simple thing to do is FOLLOW the established dress codes. Simple as that. If you've done NCL/Carnival/RCCL or other "casual" dress lines, their type of dress may not be allowed in many(but not all)cases on other lines. Some staff are stricter than others. You obviously found some of the strict ones.

We are a female couple and just returned from a 3 week Asia cruise on the Voyager. We only noticed one other gay couple on the ship, but never felt discriminated against. The ship did have a 'dressy feel', however we enjoy dressing up so it was good for us. Sorry to hear that you had that experience.
