You are very positive and I hope reflective of the other 99% of the people on the ship! It's an extra vacation day on the ship and you get a morning in Bermuda if you so choose to do anything ashore. I'm glad no one is suffering and yes people will do anything for attention unfortunately!

I'm also glad everything seems to be working out in the situation and I wish you a pleasant and uneventful journey back to Boston! :)

Side Note: Be prepared for a media onslaught though when you arrive. They're already casing out Black Falcon Terminal today.:(
Ha! Ok I guess I should be red-carpet ready for our return then? Lol maybe cnn will send Anderson Cooper? Edited by Jforrest71

Oh yes... most definitely! I suggest ball gowns and the best jewels for the camera close-ups. However, the news media is hungry for the story so if you want air time I suggest you debark early. :D

Just make sure if you see anyone disembarking in a robe and bedhead that you tell her to get off Twitter and grow up already. (I wouldn't be surprised if that is one and the same person!)
DD on the cruise. Still hoping they get back as scheduled so I can go home. Babysitting with their 2 dogs !
She's not going to be back on Friday at this point. Probably will arrive first thing Saturday morning and that is dependent on the speed she makes going home. Of course this is dependent on the outcome of the assessment by the divers.
Thankfully, ships are fitted with radios these days for that purpose ;) staying within earshot is no longer necessary.
Well then you agree with me

Btw...earshot is different than eyeshot

Even in this day an age being stranded is no fun so it is a good thing if another large cruiser is in very close range

Disagree all you want but it was a good thing for the rccl ship to hang around just in case regardless

Ha! I will do everything possible to avoid the media lol....unless I see Anderson cooper lol.
FYI someone was fishing from their balcony on deck 11 when we were stuck on the reef. The Norwegian team wasn't too happy about that!
This is my first cruise with Norwegian. I'm just impressed and feel like they are doing everything possible to take care of us and ensure our safety :)
Thank you for your updates! :) It's so nice to see posts from someone who is actually on Dawn -- and has such a positive attitude! ;)

Sending many good thoughts your way. Wishing you all a safe journey home.

OMG! Absolutely hilarious!! :D:D

I know people bring golf clubs with them so why not fishing materials? I'm wondering if they thought if the ship lost power they could at least get dinner?? LOL! Too funny! I'm sure the management on the ship was NOT pleased with that one at all with everything else going on.:D

It's not that sensational to have Anderson Cooper cover it although rumor has it he enjoyed his night out at the club a few weeks back so he could use it as an excuse to come back! :)

Yes the UBP works wonders... just hope they don't run out of your DD favorite alcohol. They ran out when they first did the UBP of Grey Goose. I was not too happy. Maybe they should reprovision booze before departure? :D

Best of luck with the dogs! :)

Just wondering why you say this? I thought I had read that she could definitely make it on time even losing a day because they only take 1 day to get there and 2 days back going at a very slow speed to give the cruisers a full 7 day cruise. Just wondering.

LOL  That's crazy. I read on these boards about people taking their fishing equipment all the time. I guess I never thought anyone would have the nerve to try to fish off the ship. LOL :p

This webcam is amazing. I can actually hear the music on the ship, people yelling and cheering and having a good time. I just heard the captain make an announcement, but I couldn't understand what he said.

There is one extremely loud woman on deck having the time of her life!:D

Wow! Here's hoping today is Thursday! OMG! It's only Wednesday!

I guess I stayed up a little late last night... she should be back on Friday as scheduled then! :D

negn - My humble apologies! I've got the wrong day of the week for sure!! :o

Mitsugirly - Thank you for pointing that out!

LOL. I was just wondering (had no idea myself since I have yet to make it to Bermuda) since I had read that before (and of course figured that it was the truth since it only takes 1 day to get there). :p

Wouldn't it be AWESOME if this was actually Dawn's schedule for Bermuda??? (Not leaving until a Wednesday). Even if it's just like today where they can only go ashore until noon. I would use that as my shopping day and have the time of my life on the other 2 full days and the 1/2 day you arrive. It's totally doable! I guess a girl can dream right?

Statement #2 on Norwegian Dawn

Miami - May 20, 2015 ---

As of 7:00 am ET on Wednesday, May 20th, Norwegian Dawn docked alongside at Heritage Wharf in Bermuda.

Norwegian's officers, engineers and lead technical teams, along with DNVGL inspectors, representing the ship's classification society and a team of independent divers, are working on a complete assessment of the vessel.

The ship is fully operational and guests are enjoying all onboard amenities and services. In addition, guests have the opportunity go ashore to enjoy the island this morning.

We will provide further updates as they become available.

I would love a four day stay in Bermuda...but as you can see, there's not enough parking for everyone if that's the case. :D

First statement from yesterday:

Statement #1 on Norwegian Dawn

Miami - May 19, 2015 ---

On Tuesday, May 19th at approximately 5:00 pm ET, Norwegian Dawn had a temporary malfunction of its steering system, causing the ship to sail slightly off course as the ship was departing Bermuda, resulting in the vessel making contact with the sea bed. All guests and crew are safe and there were absolutely no injuries.

The ship's officers, engineers and an independent dive team have confirmed the structural integrity of the ship. With high-tide this evening, the ship was floated and moved to a nearby anchorage position where it will remain overnight. The ship will be thoroughly inspected in Bermuda by DNVGL, the ship's classification society, before returning to Boston. The ship is fully operational with the full complement of onboard services available to guests.

The ship is sailing on a seven-night Boston to Bermuda cruise with 2,443 passengers and 1,059 crew. We will provide additional updates in the morning when more information becomes available.

Psssh, work it out. Have Dawn leaving on Wednesday around 2pm and the Breakaway can arrive after that and stay an extra day too. Easy Peasy. Let's petition. :D

I really appreciate you pointing it out! How embarassing! :o Luckily I did not get the date wrong all morning! :)

As for the Dawn leaving Bermuda on Wednesday, they actually used to leave on Wednesday mornings and the NYC ship would pull in the afternoon. The logic behind having the Dawn or the Boston ship leave earlier was to get a night's worth of revenue ON the ship since Bermuda was not allowing for the casino to be open. Now that it is allowed to be open, they have not changed the schedule back to having the Boston ship stay overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. The ship would leave at 8AM local time and then the NYC ship would be outside the channel entrance waiting to come in. Those were the days!

Thanks again! :D
There's some lady on Twitter on the Dawn who has been doing nothing but offering TV stations to interview her. Find her and tell her to knock it off! LOL! I'm sure she's the one adding to the doom and gloom. I, personally, would LOVE to be extended a cruise day. When I had that happen during Tropical Storm Lee which closed the MI river and the Port of New Orleans and we got a day and a half extra... I LOVED it! I guess it depends on how flexible your job is.

The doom and gloom being reported is hype but the media believes if it bleeds, it leads! Today the Dawn was the second story in on the Boston TV stations. The first was a tragic story of a biker who was killed during a traffic accident involving two cars in Boston. :(
Isn't the media, especially the TV coveage in Boston and the Boston and the Boston Globe usually filled with gloom and doom. To make things worse, so many people actually take everything they see and hear as the whole truth.

I asked last night, not sure if it wasn't answered, if you lose the ability to safely navigate a channel (especially a tight channel with very little room for error) why not drop anchor instead of drifting?

I have seen 2 twitter accounts posted from people on the Dawn at the moment. Are you referring to someone named Rachel?
