Who was your worst nextdoor neighbor on a cruise?

The Breakaway, 14 Day Eastern Caribbean, January - February 2017..

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"F*!K YOU!!!!!!!!!!!"

"OH MY GOD!!"

"HEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!"

**walls get banged**

*doors slam*

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

She screamed as she ran down the hallway, this was 2 or 3 AM, I really don't remember as time doesn't exist when it's that early, or is that late? Security got called, security showed up, we ended up with free laundry, wine, and strawberries. Quite exciting.

Other nights there were parties and yelling, but nothing like that night described above.

I finally did see the guy, in a hot tub, I asked him what the heck happened, and like the jerk he was, denied the whole thing and said he had no idea what I was talking about.

"Is that why everyone on the floor looks at me with disgust and acts like they hate me?"

"Sure is, it was chaos that night, man."

We've never experienced anything like that on any of our trips. That room was completely out of control and no one will ever know what happened the night the woman ran screaming down the hallway. But hey, we got some free stuff out of it so it's all good.

So, who has a more exciting story than that?

Definitely not more exciting than yours! But 2 semi-short (slightly) funny stories.

HAL cruise to Alaska several years back. First night, middle of the night, every few minutes, BANG really loud, something banging against something else. Good grief, a pipe in the hall? What's going on? Is it going to be like this all trip?!? Continued for probably half an hour. Finally stopped, thank heavens! Turns out is was my brother and sister in law, newbie cruisers in the next room, they hadn't closed their safe and as the ship rocked, it slammed shut over and over until they were able to figure out what was happening.

NCL Dawn last September, Canada/NE. Same brother and sister in law next door to us, and next door to THEM was a couple we started calling "the bickering Bickersons", there was CONSTANT and VERY LOUD bickering back and forth, inside the room and on the balcony, with the TV on LOUD all the time. They chased us all off our balconies when they were out there, because of the constant bickering. My pretty good-natured brother finally had enough and erupted at them, yelling at them to shut up, that others were trying to enjoy their balconies and couldn't because the 2 of them were constantly going at it like a couple of old farts!! The lady (the worst offender) then said "well, we ARE old farts!" while the man apologized profusely. I don't think I've ever heard my brother so angry, and I was worried it would ruin his cruise, but he recovered quickly. The balcony battle of the Bickersons calmed down after that so that we could all sit outside and enjoy the view, but apparently the in-room TV and loud bickering continued for the entire cruise (we didn't know that it continued till the cruise was over, else I'd have suggested my brother and sister in law say something to hotel services).

Fun topic, looking forward to hearing from others. And if anyone reading this was on the Dawn last September and somebody yelled at you and called you an old fart, it's just a coincidence, it wasn't anyone I know. :halo:

Best wishes!

Fun topic indeed. I was on the Carnival Breeze. I was in a far forward cabin with only one cabin next to me. I met the two young men who were sharing that cabin on day 1. Well these two guys turned out to be a lot more popular than I gave them credit for. First night one of them managed to pick up a girl and bring her back to the room. The problem was the second guy returned to the room and couldn't get in. His reaction was to beat loudly on the door and scream "No h@#s. We said no h@#s." It's late night/early morning and he's banging and screaming. I admit I was nosey enough to look out the peephole to watch the unfortunate girl take her walk of shame. This didn't just happen one night but several nights. I don't know if only one guy got lucky or if they both did. It was constant, every night. One day I was returning to my cabin and there were broken room service dishes sitting outside their door. I wondered what they had to do to break those dishes. I imagine if you dropped them on carpet they wouldn't break. I figured they put effort into breaking them. By day 3 I was no longer even acknowledging them when I passed them. No hello, no head nod, no eye contact, nothing. I was ashamed for them.

Not stories like either of you have and pretty sure I am glad about that! :D But on our cruise around the horn, the folks who had the aft corner $uite, loved to hang their unmentionables out on the balcony to dry....nothing like trying to take in gorgeous glaciers and cliffs while unsuccessfully overlooking grandma and grandpa's bloomers!

Thankfully I never had a problem with neighbors on NCL, hopefully I will not jinx myself for saying this :)

I did however had problems on Carnival. Not just once but on many many cruises. When I say problems I mean late at night, the loudness from the neighbors just would not go away. After many cruises, I said to myself I had enough, switched to NCL and never looked back.

Last year about this time on Breakaway. We had the second to last balcony cabin on deck 12. The cabin between us and the aft suite had 4 young men on college break. One of them didn't go with his girlfriend to Miami, so they have very loud "conversations" every night on the balcony. We heard *every word*. We could tell you their names, hobbies, friends, plans for after the cruise, you name it we heard it.

Then the guys would go out and we'd fall asleep, only to be woken back up when the party returned to their cabin around 2am. Every night was the same. Multiple calls to security, guest services, but the partying continued. My boys learned words they had never heard, and the f word was every other word. Awful.

I think they got the message around night 5, but I think they threatened to leave them ashore! Otherwise our neighbours have been silent.

Had a couple on one of our cruises back in the 1990's that liked to come home drunk and get busy every night at 2AM. Loud thumping on the cabin wall and other noises. After the first night me and my now wife said heck if you can beat em join em. Never made it to breakfast before 9 the rest of the cruise.

I'm loving this thread to death. I don't have a story to top those already posted, but here goes:

Our last sailing on the Epic, we were upgraded during check-in to a nice balcony on deck 14, very close to the aft staircases. This was amazing except for one thing. We would go to sleep peacefully and happily only to be woken up around midnight each night by a very drunk woman who refused to take the elevators to her room. She was so inebriated that she was literally on her hands and knees crawling up the stairs, cocktail dress splayed, a couple of equally inebriated companions loudly cheering her on. She would scream at the top of her lungs about how drunk she was and how she couldn't make it to her room. I and several neighbors near the staircase popped our heads out of our rooms to take in the spectacle the first night. The troupe was so unapologetic as to become belligerent when Guest Services was called and quickly responded to the scene. By the second night, they had decided that they weren't going to let anyone tell them how sober they needed to be in order to walk up the stairs, and it got fairly entertaining watching them argue for their right to drunkenly crawl on their faces up the staircase, arms akimbo, scowling. Threats to leave them at the next port were met with muffled concessions to attempt to be quieter, but the display recurred most of the remaining evenings to a lesser extent. Haven't seen anything like it since.

NCL Spirit repositioning cruise, New Orleans to Boston. We were in a balcony cabin. On the first day we met our neighbors, who struck us as odd. 3 woman of different ages, late teens to mid forties. Prison tattoos. As we sailed away we struck up a conversation, they were first time cruisers and agog over everything. We are early to bed, early to rise. On the first night around 2am they came back to the room with others and partied loudly. The next morning when we got up and went to our balcony one was sleeping out there. This routine continued for 1/2 the cruise. After returning to the ship after one day in port, there were numerous people including officers outside their cabin. We were urged to go into our cabin. We could hear them in the next cabin say they had never seen anything like this before. Once they all left there was yellow do not cross tape on the door. The women never returned.

Years ago on the Spirit, we were next door to a newlywed couple on their honeymoon and accompanied by several friends. There was unfortunately an adjoining door, making the sounds of their cabin constantly full of drunk people even louder. The trash can was apparently near the adjoining door, and they would throw their liquor bottles against that door and into the trash can. One day, we heard the husband vomiting all day (at least it seemed like it). These neighbors really ruined the cruise for us...I couldn't wait to get off the ship. Lesson learned: we never get a cabin with an adjoining door anymore!

Drunken and loudness at 3:30 a.m. that lasted more than an hour.

Next morning at 7:00 a.m. I pounded on their door and told them that if they did it anymore, they would get a wake-up call every single morning at 7:00 a.m or even earlier as that was when I got up to enjoy the 'day'.

Didn't have another problem.

Luckily, I can't recall any bad neighbors... maybe WE are them... 🤣

On our first cruise we were in one of the lowest forward cabins you can get... and the dropping of the anchor was our alarm clock each morning... [emoji57]

:') I forgot that my inlaws were calling *us* the Bickersons on our last cruise. Your post reminded of it and I finally looked them up. Some of their stuff is on Spotify so I'll be downloading it for our road trip to the Breakaway next week! (And we weren't as bad as your brother's neighbours!)

On the Celebrity Mercury, one evening late, a fight broke out next door. I thought a woman was either being raped or beaten as there was a lot of screaming, etc. Also I could hear things being thrown and breaking. I ran to the casino to get security to come and check out what was happening. I will never know for sure but I asked the cabin steward and she said it was kids and was very tight lipped. Anyways that was scary. I was travelling with my kids and it was actually their cabin that was next to that one.

When smoking was allowed on the balconies.

I had an older couple next to me and she screamed at her husband from the minute they got into their room. Her mouth never stopped. I went outside for a cigarette and she starts screaming at us for smoking, I just said to her...Freestyle Baby, Its freestyle. She stormed inside.

The next morning, she comes out and starts yelling like a banshee again, calling us every name in the book, this time I had my cell phone with me so I activated the voice recorder and let her go on for about 5 minutes. When she finally shut up I played it back at full volume so she would hear it and she stormed into her room again. I got dressed and went downstairs and played the recording for guest services and after that I never heard a peep out of her the rest of the trip.

People like her are the reason I am so fed up with non-smokers waving their hands in my face or making comments to me when I am in a smoking section. FYI I also had 1 guy removed from the casino for starting crap with me about smoking while I was in the smoking section & I will do it again in a heartbeat.

Our only bad neighbours were on a 14 day last winter. Lots of fighting, on the balcony and inside. I went out by myself one night to watch some live music and when I came back to the cabin security was outside their door. Apparently there had been a really loud late night fight. We heard them more than we saw them. Didn't ruin the cruise for us, but it didn't seem like they were enjoying themselves.

We've had some families with loud kids beside us, and kids making noise in the hall outside the cabin but I haven't been upset. It's nice to see the kids excited about being on vacation :)

Way back....I think it was the Norway..... We had a large group of KIDS in the room next door. Both sets of parents were elsewhere on the ship and I think that the oldest next door was about 12. EVERY night...they'd be out till all hours and the phone would start ringing...and ringing....and ringing.... Parents looking for their kids who weren't there. When the kids were there, it was like being in an elementary-school classroom with a dimwitted substitute...kids jumping on the beds and bouncing off the walls. We asked for help from guest services, but they weren't helpful. We don't travel during spring break anymore. And now, I'd know to hound guest services (or the hotel manager) to resolve this.
