Casino Rate....If you change cabin?

I'd call Carnival, but I'll get a more knowledgeable answer here...lol

If I have a cruise booked at Casino Rate (5/2019)....and change my mind about the cabin (right now I'm in a 4J...but might want a Lido interior).....do I pay the $99/pp casino rate penalty? Or can I just transfer the entire deposit to the new cabin?

I had a 4J booked under early saver and found out the cruise was a premier when the last round of offers came out. Called and had them switch me to the premier offer (lido interior) with no penalty. Then got an up sell for a balcony and took that. Just paid the difference with no penalty.

No need to reply....

Called Carnival and got a very knowledgeable rep. Yes, I'd have to pay the penalty.

Although I'm booked with a TA, he gave me really good cabin info.

I would check with your TA about this. I do not think you would need to pay the penalty UNLESS the cabin you are moving to cost less than the cabin you currently have, but I may be wrong.

How far out were you able to book a casino rate? We’re lookkng to book for April 2019 but it seems that the available casino rates only show up online for summer cruises.

Thanks

It probably depends on the type of casino offer. I have 3 right now.

Exclusive Casino Offer code PTC

Premier code PC3

Premier Getaway code P7V

The premier has sailing into November 2018.

Getaway has sailings into September 2018.

The exclusive casino offer has sailings all the way into 2020.

Usually if you are upgrading there is no penalty. I have booked under casino rates in the past and have upgraded rooms with no penalties at all

Same here. I lost my $50 OBC for switching to Premier. It was a only within a few days of making the changes, kept the same room..deck 7 balcony on Pride, no penalty to change and got $300 cash as Premier. All the additional perks were worth it too!

The rep told me that it depended on the promo. I guess my promo (PZ1) is not one of the better ones. If I canceled that cabin it would have been a $99/pp penalty.

I'm actually in a 4J Past Guest-2 category upgrade. The cruise is May 2019, and lots of things could happen between now and then. The problem is that there is only one 4J left...so once that goes there wouldn't be any flexibility with the fare.

We are going on a 4J Horizon cruise this June. From what I understand, and from what the rep told me, 4J (deck 9) on the Horizon is a sheltered area with lounge chairs. But, on the Triumph (cruise in question) Deck 6 4J isn't sheltered....so could be very windy. I think a Lido might be better.

Knowing me, if I need to pay a penalty I'd stick with what I have, instead of booking what I want!

I think it's all in the wording - If you CANCEL the cabin then there would be a penalty; if you CHANGE/UPGRADE your cabin then there should not be a penalty. At least that's been my experience.

I forgot to mention I did lose the $50 OBC but with both me and the wife having premier offers we both get casino cash. And of course all the premier perks! :D Well worth it for us.

This has been my experience also.
