Day rate room required in mIami after Caribbean cruise and late flight - any advice

Hi,

We are doing a Caribbean cruise from Miami next year and on our return to Miami our flight back to London does not leave until 22.30. Would like to book a room in a hotel for the day so we have somewhere to leave our luggage, do a bit of sightseeing and then return for a shower before leaving for the airport.

Does anyone know if this will be pre-book able or is it something we can only do once in Miami. Any tips or recommendations much appreciated .

Another option (although it won't help with a shower) is to rent a car. The cost of a one day car rental is fairly cheap. You can leave your luggage in the trunk and spend the day touring the Miami area.

Miami hotels are VERY expensive, even a Cabana at one of the hotels would probably be a few hundred dollars just for a day.

Good luck.

Twice we have uses Hilton Miami Airport Hotel. It is a great place to go while waiting for a late flight. There is a pool and a great restaurant. They also have a free shuttle to the airport. We were there last year and the cost of a day pass was $115.00 plus taxes, total 129.95.

Miami airport has Premium Airline lounges in addition to just regular airline lounges. Full meal buffet, wifi, showers, and drinks included. Find out which alliance your London airline is part of and get a day pass.

Once you have a couple of hotel ideas, contact them directly and ask, even if they don't advertise it. We've found we had better luck phoning the front desk phone number for hotels rather than using the general toll free number to ask for special rates like this. If you're in the UK and don't want to do call Florida, check the hotel location's website for an email contact and try that. We did something similar, did an email request to the Holiday Inn in Southampton and got an immediate, very helpful response.

We had a 7:30pm flight out of Miami last September after we returned on the NCL Sky. We used dayuse-hotels.com and booked the Cadet Hotel for the day. We had the room from 9am - 5pm for $79. We grabbed breakfast on the ship then took a cab to the hotel.

The hotel was only a few blocks walk from the beach and a couple of blocks from the bus stop where caught the bus to the airport. I highly recommend it! It was nice having a place to shower and nap before the flight.

We always stay at The Pullman Hotel by the airport before the late Virgin flight home, it's around $100 for the room but it's a nice hotel, has a decent pool & a great burger & fries for a snack [emoji39]

We also us hotelsbyday.com to book it and never had any issues, [emoji4]

We just stayed at the Pullman last month for the day. Excellent!

That used to be the Sofitel I think? In the Blue Lagoon area? Yes that would be a real nice choice if planning on just relaxing pretty flight.

Yes that's right,

We stayed there literally the day or couple of days after they change the name and the taxi driver hadn't even heard of it [emoji23], luckily we had stayed there the previous year so then realised they changed the name once we recognised the place [emoji4]

Thanks to everyone for information.

We have booked the Pullman (Sofitel) for the day using Accor points we did not know we had !!

Thanks again

Taxi from POM to that hotel should run about $27-30 on the meter Have a great cruise! :)

So happy to hear the positive comments. We just booked a day room there post cruise as our flight doesn't leave until 8:30pm. Of the options I was looking at (Double Tree, Homewood Suites. Regency) it seems to have the nicest pool. Think as well there is a cafe or coffee shop ontop of a full restaurant? And I like the fact that it has some stores in walking distance if we want to pick up some US groceries before heading back to Canada.

Question...are they very strict on the time if they are not busy? i.e. would they let us stay a touch longer (30-60 min)....even for a small fee would be helpful.
