Disembarking and embarking on the same day..how easy is it?

Hi everyone!

We have tentatively booked a transatlantic cruise in the Fall of 2019 on the Sky Princess. It is due to arrive in Fort Lauderdale on December 1st. We've decided it would be great to get off the Sky Princess and embark on the Allure of the Seas which leaves that same day. My question is about travelling from the one terminal to the other. I don't think a taxi would be happy to pick us up since we're not leaving the area but lugging heavy luggage around for long distances isn't appealing either. I think I remember that this isn't uncommon but not sure how practical it is? It would be so much easier to stay on the same ship I guess! Has anyone done this? I thought I read something about a shuttle but I think that goes to the parking area only?

Many thanks for any insights!!
