Carnival excursion and early dining time

Hi! We will be on a Carnival excursion in Jamaica to Dunn's River Falls and Bobsledding. Carnival website says it is a 7 hour excursion, but I have read many reviews that said the excursion ran long and they got back to the ship late. I know the ship won't leave without us since we are on a Carnival excursion.

But...we have early dining in the MDR. What happens if our excursion runs long and we don't make it back in time to get ready to eat dinner at the 6pm time in the main dining room? Is the buffet our only other choice? Will the main dining room still take us if we are late because of a late excursion? Or, can we maybe try to go to the anytime dining room?

Thanks in advance for your help!

The ship will do its best to wait. But, there are those exceptional occasions when port/weather circumstances are such that "waiting" is not an option (same goes for late airplanes). In those cases, what the ship guarantees (for services purchased) is that it will get you to the next port at no extra charge.

Of course, reputable tour providers will/should do the same.

Your only option is the buffett, pizza, deli, or make reservations for later in the evening in a specialty restaurant. You will not be served in the mdr arriving late, or allowed to use ytd in its place.
