Hi there, looking for recommendations for myself, DH and mom. We're in our 50s and mom is 88. Mom's first trip but since DH and I did 7 day R/T about 10 years ago, trying to expand into the interior to make it a new experience for us. Welcome suggestions/thoughts!

Look through Princess and Holland America's websites.....they both have a very extensive collection of tours...:)

I have taken 2 land tour & cruise packages. Both were with Princess. The first had a 3 day land tour followed by a 7 day cruise. We enjoyed it but wished we could have spent more time on the land tour. Years later we did the connoisseur escorted 8 day land tour followed by the 7 day cruise. This was much better as we saw so much more of Alaska and it included most meals and several excursions. We had our own tour director who coordinated everything and educated us about Alaska. We enjoyed every aspect of the tour including the rail and motor coach transportation between the 4 different Princess lodges at which we stayed.

We have booked another Princess 15 day connoisseur escorted cruise tour for the future.

It's extremely important to KNOW details, which most people miss, due to vague descriptions.

Longer is always better and I'd never recommend consider any less than 5 add on days. more, frankly.

Take a look at each "stop", and make sure that is where you want to be. Way too many people simply book tours, then ask what to do there. I find this a big mistake in planning. Make sure you aren't wasting time, especially at the expense of other areas.

Cruise tours, on average, do not allow you any time at the cruise ports. unless specifically mentions. In my opinion, both Seward and Whittier are gems. And a shame to miss, if you're already there.

Read reports- most important- factor in all transits- a major surprise for the unprepared. :)
