How does the Panama Canal Connoisseur differ from the normal Panama Canal cruise?

It stops in Fuerto Amador (Panama City) for about 30 hours. This allows you to take excursion to see Panama . A normal cruise does the transit and continues on without stopping.

The Panama Canal - Connoisseur doesn't have Fuerto Amador (Panama City) at all.

All the brochure says, is "more land," and no 30 hour port stops either.

I phoned Princess, and the sales person couldn't explain either.

It is on the Pacific Princess. They often label normal itineraries on that ship as being Connoisseur.

Why is that?

Noticed Pacific Princess hasn't been refurbished since 2010 on Princess.com, which to me sounds like a long time. But on my third party deck plans site, they said September 2017.

Third party deck plan info is correct.

The Pacific Princess is a small ship which many feel provides the best cruise experience in the fleet. More intimate. Easier to get to know staff and other passengers. Itineraries that include ports the larger ships do not go to.

The Pacific Princess has been refurbed more recently than 2010. I cruised on her twice within under a year in 2016-2017, and there were major décor changes made to the cabins, as well as some of the public areas, between those 2 cruises.
